@Beadaholique The stickers give the appearance of resin but they do not require any drying time. You will need to wait for the glue to dry when you adhere the image/sticker to the tile but this should only take about 10 - 15 minutes. Also, the cost to make the Scrabble tile pendants using the stickers is a lot less then resin, there is hardly any mess, and anybody can do it. The entire project will definitely fit into your 30 minute time frame.
Thanks for taking the time to show us how to make these pendants. I've seen them at craft shows and was always fascinated by the glass look of the resin. Neat to see it's possible to make them myself!
Hi! Sorry I misunderstood about the glass tile, oops! I am so glad you liked the video :) A couple things come to mind about the glare and the bubbles. I have used glass tiles to make pendants before myself and I have also experienced some glare and bubbles. What I have found that helps is to apply the image to the tile first so that I can press on the backside of the paper to really smooth out bubbles. I then trim the image and glue it to the pendant.
I have also found that this reduces glare, although it can be really hard to get rid of all the glare (I think it just comes with the territory of this medium). I will add to our to-do list a glass tile pendant video, it's a great idea!
I have used fabric and lace before. Once you put the resin on it, the fabric and lace become saturated and darken quite a bit. White lace pretty much disappears under resin. It does create a unique look. The bail should glue on fine, just still use E6000.
I also really like how Ice Resin in particular looks: the crystal clear glass like finish it gets, relatively few bubbles, and how easily it domes. Although I do sometimes have a bad pour (we all do) I feel like I can pretty much count on Ice Resin turning out the way I want it to, and for me, that is priceless.
I would suggest laying an entire new layer of resin over the entire surface to even out any uneven areas and then putting it back under the UV light. If you just put a little in one area, it will create a line and look uneven and almost lumpy.
@Beadaholique The one thing to remember with Mod Podge is that it can look "thick" if you are not careful - so again, just keep your layers thin and even. Have fun!
I emailed Jason from beadaholique's customer support...after I talked it over with him i set the sticky pieces out in the sun for about 20-30 mins and BOOM they were all good. Thanks Y'all!
@linakaprice Mod Podge will work just fine as a sealant. A couple things to keep in mind as you are working with it: make sure to use several layers of Mod Podge. Personally, I find that I have the best results when I use 3 layers. So paint on 1 thin layer, let it dry, paint on a second thin layer, let it dry, and finally paint on a third thin layer and let it dry fully. The layers will dry quickly because you are going to be making them thin.
1. There is a difference between using resin and epoxy stickers. Resin is much more of a solid, permanent, professional option. The resin will give a glass like appearance to your finished piece and is water-proof. The stickers are a great option for fun and quick projects. They do give a nice appearance but it is not as polished as the resin and the stickers could become unstuck if submerged in water.
Hi! I find that the 2 part resins dome a little better then the 1 part. Although you can dome them it is more difficult, and if you are using a UV light for curing, it means you will need to move your piece which can be a little scary when doming. I have found that it is ok to use either 1 part resin or 2 part resin indoors as long as it is properly ventilated.
Resin will give you a more polished look then Dimensional Mod Podge and also a lot more "solid" appearance (hard and sleek). You probably could use Dimensional Magic and achieve a similar look but it will not be exactly the same.
I do a lot of printing of images and I prefer an 80# - 100# matte white paper. Sometimes this is listed as card stock and sometimes it is not. Basically you want it to have some weight to it so that the glue and sealants can be absorbed by the paper without warping it. I never use photo paper. If you plan on using resin on top of the paper, make sure to seal it with 3 coats of Nunn Design Sealant prior to coating.
3. The small bottle of Gel du Soleil is pretty small (hence the lower price). I have never used an entire bottle just making these tiles, so I can not actually say how many you would be able to cover. It is also going to depend upon how thick of a layer you put on. In the product description, it says that it will fill 4 - 6 Patera style pendants depending on size. I think this is a good estimate as to how many tiles you could cover.
@Ladyinthedarkmirror They're called Natural Wood Square Collage Jewelry Pendant Tiles - SKU: BWD-9000. There's a list of supplies and their sku numbers in the video description.
Because it is a sticker, you could also potentially get finger nail imprints or scratches on the surface - resin will be much harder and more difficult to damage. 2. You can use diamond glaze but it will not be as high shine or glass-like as resin. You also will most likely not be able to get as deep of a layer as resin or as nice of a dome shape (if you plan on doming).
You do not need a UV lamp for Ice Resin, it will cure on its own - 24 hours for a hard cure and 3 days for a full cure. I experienced a lot of bubbles too during my first forays into resin work. Don't give up! There are a lot of reasons why those bubbles could have formed. I recently wrote a blog post with tips about working with resin. If you have time, read through it. There's a link for the blog in the video description underneath this video.
Probably closer to the 6 if I had to guess, but it is only a guess. 4. I have seen some resins yellow over long periods of time, especially if exposed to a lot of sunlight. Ice Resin is the resin I prefer, and I have not seen yellowing in pieces I did even 2 years ago. I have personally not seen yellowing with Gel du Soleil either. As for the stickers, I would not think that they would yellow since they are not a glue or a resin.
I can only speak from my personal observations but I find UV resin is actually harder to work with because you loose control of it once it goes under the UV lamp. I have had several instances where a bubble appears during the curing process and I can't do anything about it. I also find the 2-part resin domes better and is better for thicker layers.
You can get the AANRAKU Glue On Celtic Pendant Bail on Beadaholique . com's website. The links for the supplies in this video are located in the video description underneath this video.
@linakaprice If you are using a 2 part resin such as Easy Cast or Ice Resin, the pendants will need to cure (dry) overnight before they can be moved and then will need to fully cure for another 2 days before they should be worn. However, if you are using a 1 part resin such as Gel du Soleil and have a UV lamp, they will cure in about 15 minutes. My best recommendation would actually be to make the Scrabble tile pendant using epoxy stickers.
Unless something says that it is fine to use, is copyright free, is specifically made for commercial use, or is of an age where the copyright has expired, you can probably assume that someone somewhere holds the copyright.
I would suggest gluing your sticker in place before putting the resin on top. There are lots of wonderful stickers and images out there but I worry that the resin might creep under some looser stickers if they are not glue in place. Also, you want to make sure that the image has a tight bond to the setting.
If you are not happy with the print quality on your home printer, then you can take your images to an office store to be printed with their laser printers - the colors are sometimes more vibrant when you do this.
It took me many years and many mistakes to learn what is in the blog. I do prefer Ice Resin for several reasons. Firstly, and this is just my opinion, I really like working with a 2-part resin vs. a UV resin. This is because once you put the UV resin under the curing lamp, that's it, you are committed and if any bubbles rise up during the curing process (or dust gets in there) there is not anything you can do about it. I find a 2 part resin to be more forgiving and you have more working time.
@artzinspiration If you want to achieve a completely smooth, domed effect on your scrabble tile, I would use either 1 or 2 part resin or epoxy stickers. The Diamond Glaze works, but it looks like a sealed/glazed finish and not a dome. I have tried to apply a heavier application of Diamond Glaze to mimic a raised effect, and the result was not the same as resin or an epoxy sticker.
I have tried using fabric with mixed results. The fabric absorbs the glue and the resins - which results in it darkening. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does change the look of the piece. I am a huge fan of experimenting, so I would suggest playing around with the idea and seeing what happens.

Resin cures best when an even temperature is maintained, outdoors will mean swings in temperature which could result in a cloudiness to your pieces. 2 part resins are more cost effective. I am sorry but I do not know how many 1" tiles you can make out of a bottle. A lot would depend on how thick of a layer you are putting on and if you are doming. It does not make a difference what size disc you use. Have fun!
A sticky layer to me sounds like it is not curing properly which is either the resin being old or it not sitting in the UV light long enough. Even though it is recommended to keep your object in the UV lamp for 15 - 20 minutes, try keeping a test piece in there for 40 minutes and see what happens.

@Beadaholique Thanks! :D But i was thinking of using Mod Podge as a sealer since we're not professional enough(or have enough money D:) to afford resin.... Do you think that would be okay? I mean I know it's now perfect, but acceptable... And YES! I will check out that epoxy stickers video! I never thought about stickers before! such a simple but brilliant idea..... THANK YOU!~

Hello, If I take this to a copy center such as staples to get my images laser jet printed, What type of paper would I tell them to use? Please help. Thank You, Margaret
Hi! I wonder what kind of epoxy resin did you use? And what kind do you recommend for making pendants with my own images? I just bought 2-part epoxy resin that should be used for bonding materials...can I use that to make my pendants? Thank you :D
So I was using Gel du soleil for the first time. I went outside to use it. I know, I know, what was I thinking? I thought I could apply it out there and have it ready to set in the sun. I didn't realize it would set so quickly. I quickly came inside and was able to fix it but. Word to the wise...or should I said unwise, make sure you apply the gel du soleil INSIDE.
Thanks for the reply, but I was talking about the glass pendant..nothing to do with the scrabble tiles..I was talking about the glass tile I bought from you store 36819-clear-glass-jewelry-pendant-tiles-square-25mm-4.aspx . What I would do is put the diamond glaze on the glass then attached the image I would squeeze it together to get bubbles out and stuff but there was always a glare on the background :(
These rings will be water-resistant, however the scrabble tile itself is wood and wood does absorb moisture. I think you will be fine to shower in these but I would probably not go swimming in them.
Hi, have you ever tried using fabric instead of pictures in paper? I have some lovely old sari fabric and was thinking it would look great, but I don't know how it would go with the glue?
I’ve watched this video multiple times for years because of the tingles it gives me and watching it today was the first time I ever noticed that and it truly blew my mind 😭
Hi! I am not equipped to give legal advice but I do know that there are a lot of copyright free images which can be purchased or found free of charge - these will often tell you that they are fine to use. In general, I would steer clear of other artists artwork (unless they are selling it and giving specific permission to be used commercially) as well as known characters or images from the movie, animation, comic book, and literary industries.
@Beadaholique The stickers give the appearance of resin but they do not require any drying time. Wow, that was really cool. Thank you!
Hi, excellent video!
Quick question..how should I go about choosing what images I can use in my projects for commercial use? I've been doing a bit of research but I'm still unsure what to do. I don't want a cease and desist letter! Thanks.
Thank you for the reply about the "dry patches on my pendant" my comment was in regards to glass tile pendant...do you have a video on how to do one? I loved the tutorial. I would use glossy accents though for the domed effect.
Excellent tutorial...thank you so much for this wonderful lesson.

You are a very good instructor! Really appreciate the detail you provide. One question: what type of paper do you use to print your images onto? Card stock?, regular printer paper?, etc. the paper looked thicker than regular printer paper when you were cutting the image out. Thanks for responding!!
gah, I wish I had the time, patience, and tools to make these. so cute :c

Have you used Fabric? It'd be nice to put fabric, like lace for the backside. Do you think the brail would glue to the back once the resin is dried?
This is a great video, how many layers of mod podge did you use?
@Beadaholique
Thanks! :D
But i was thinking of using Mod Podge as a sealer since we're not professional enough(or have enough money D:) to afford resin....
Do you think that would be okay?

And YES! I will check out that epoxy stickers video!

could i use medium AANRAKU Pendant Bails on one inch title pendants? I guess I am asking would it fit on the pendant?
After I cure the gel du soleil under a UV light it sets, but there is a sticky layer on top, its happened everytime so far. any tips?
how long does it usually take to dry?
I'm trying to do this project for an art club at school but I only have 30 minutes complete it...
Can you use mod podge dimensionals instead of the resin?
I would not recommend using nail polish instead of Mod Podge. One is more a of a lacquer and one is a glue.
Can you use the dimensional Mod Podge instead of resin?

Word to the wise...or should I said unwise, make sure you apply the gel du soleil INSIDE.
oh great thanks a lot :D i greatly appreciate you responding so quickly :D
super joli et très bien expliqué , merci
Thanks for the reply, but I was talking about the glass pendant..nothing to do with the scrabble tiles..I was talking about the glass tile I bought from you store 36819-clear-glass-jewelry-pendant-tiles-square-25mm-4.aspx . What I would do is put the diamond glaze on the glass then attached the image I would squeeze it together to get bubbles out and stuff but there was always a glare on the background :(
thank you i love your videos! I am going to surprise my wife and make her a panda pendant.
Aside from curing time, what are the inherent differences between UV and 2 part resin?
These rings will be water-resistant, however the scrabble tile itself is wood and wood does absorb moisture. I think you will be fine to shower in these but I would probably not go swimming in them.
In case i don't have any resin, can i use super glue instead to coat the image?
Hi, have you ever tried using fabric instead of pictures in paper? I have some lovely old sari fabric and was thinking it would look great, but I don't know how it would go with the glue?
How to find images like these?please explain me I need it Thanks in advance :)
I love how the scrabble pieces spell ASMR, cause your videos do have a little ASMR in them :3
PlienxXxPandaSmiles thought I was the only one who noticed haha
I’ve watched this video multiple times for years because of the tingles it gives me and watching it today was the first time I ever noticed that and it truly blew my mind 😭
y do u use the mod podge if u use resin since it is also a glue, besides the glassy look?
Can I use scrap paper and not make copies.? I also bought some small paper at HL that's used for this purpose..jewelry section..
Thank you for answering.
You are fantastic. Love you!!
