Excellent idea with the shims! 👍 I like the track minimalist plan as well. Layout is looking good.

The 18" ones give a smoother gradient... ones I've been using for yrs now. Good for you I haven't seen that on RUclips till you

@@montananorthern also if you don't mind me sharing if you draw a center line you can cut reliefs alternating every other side dowe the lenght or wherever you need them to form radii for curved sidings entrance gradients.

Nice update. Too bad about the backdrop, but good the manufacturer is helping. What did you mount the backdrop on? Seems like it's mounted to wood (or some porous material) that shrank due to humidity changes and the backdrop wrinkled. What was different from that backdrop and mounting compared to the other ones that had no issues? Why not cut out the mountains and paint your own sky/clouds? As far as the sidings, try not to change elevations to drastically or too suddenly, your turnouts and couplers may not like the changes. You could use a smaller scale cork road bed for the sidings. My layout is HO scale and I use HO scale cork road bed for the main line and N scale cork road bed for the sidings. It's not much, but it is noticeable and helps keep rolling stock from creeping out onto the mainline. Terry
