There were comments on one of the bootleg videos about the misogynistic costumes because of their sparkles.. I can't imagine anyone gets to tell Simone or Anneke what to wear, but I definitely think they coordinated 😅

@@paultgreen I was at the front it was very light, you might not notice it from far away and I was there on sunday matirnee show so that might help. There was a lot going on so I do not begrudge you for not noticing very light sparkles on Hansi haha. I just happened to see it from my position at the barrier.
@@paultgreen The last 2 Ayreon concerts had no costume requirement whatsoever so i highly doubt this one had. Even the costumes for the Electric Castle show were all self bought and not in any way required by Arjen (Damian killed it anyway).

Dear Arjen. I have written to you in the past and you took the time to answer. I just wanted to repeat what I told you then, nearly 20 years ago if not more. You will probably won't ever fully comprehend the impact your music has to most of us and that is ok. Seeing these videos makes me feel like I have grown old with you. Not only you, your friends too, both old and new. Damian, Irene, Marcela, Hansi, Daniel, Anneke, Simone and many, many more. It saddens me that i will probably never experience one of your live performances but at least we have the digital means now and I can feel the energy from home. Thank you.

He has inspired us so much and even replied to a friend of mine that I introduced to his music for his birthday. A true saint, thank you for all the inspiration Arjen!
People looking in must be thinking ‘yeah looks like a cool gig’ without any actual idea of what the whole experience of Tilburg, the friends you meet, the weekend experience, the concerts, the build ups, the artist interactions with fans outside of the gigs. The whole thing can only really be called an ‘experience’. Nobody goes to an Ayreon ‘gig’. It’s a 3 yearly holiday weekend with all your mates you’ve never even met before.

70 years young and still kicking. I was lucky enough to get hold of three tickets for the sunday matinee and took both my sons with me. I had high expectations, but this show blew my mind. Thanks Arjen (and everyone who made it possible) for a great show!

I've been a long time fan of Ayreon, but sadly, haven't made it to a show... until this one. My wife, two kids, and I were at the matinee show, and we were absolutely blown away by it!
Did you catch Damien Wilson walking down the line to get into 013 Poppodium before the matinee show? That was unexpected!

I travelled with my brother and mother from Chile to Tilburg just to see this show (on Saturday and Sunday), and they were the best show we've ever been. I've never seen that many talented people on stage. And I really loved the kindness and respect of the dutch people... but (maybe I'm gonna be hated for saying this) I really really missed the latin audience :c . I wanted to jump, sing and scream, but everyone was so respectful (we latinos express our passion for music in a more explosive way), maybe latin americans will understand what I mean. Anyway, best show ever and huge admiration and gratitude to Arjen and every single people who helped carry out this wonderful show!

some people were also missing a moshpit, but the average age of the audiance is much too high for high energy jumping. and it was way too crowded as well ofcourse.

There's something about Anneke's final part that always gives me goosebumps, and the live version produces the same effect.
Check out The Gentle Storm - Numbered if you haven't already, my absolute favorite performance by Anneke (and as usual perfect harmonies by Marcela) and I wish there wasn't only the fancams available.

Definitely. The guys behind the scenes that made this happen deserve high praise - can't be easy to be the sound guy with that many channels and such a diverse collective of singers and songs.
That's why I love metal. Singers and musicians together on one stage with each of them able to fill stadiums in their own with their respective bands.
And yet we as the audience feel nothing but mutual respect between them. Everybody giving everybody else their room to shine and create something wonderful together.

We were there, Saturday Sept 16th (matinee). The whole experience - from queueing up outside in lovely sunshine, Damian visiting the line & shaking hands with the fans, the fabulous show with the TDTTWBD bonus and a chat with some band members afterwards. Live Beneath The Waves was magnificent. Ty Arjen & TeamAyreon! Can't wait to get my hands on the 10101001 BD. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

Bij Universe werden de beelden van de zaterdag gebruikt. Overigens: heb je dat "Nerd" t-shirt gezien in de webshop? Was dat er al tijdens het concert (of is het later aan de collectie toegevoegd 😉)? Ga sowieso bestellen. Later!

Ik kreeg net een email omdat ik op de mailinglijst sta met een link voor de preorders, dus dat heb ik meteen gedaan, deze keer alleen de blu-ray besteld.
Heb het t-shirt niet gezien, ik ga meteen weer even kijken.
@@BrendonChase_2015 heb nog even gekeken, maar dat nerd shirt was er al tijdens het concert. Ik heb hem ook. Destijds al besteld in preorder. In eerste instantie had ik hem aan voor het concert, maar toen kreeg ik een VIP ( very important penis ) shirt in mijn goody bag , dus toen heb ik die natuurlijk aan gedaan. 🤪

It was more than 20 years that I wished to see them live and it finally happened. One of the greatest concert I’ve ever seen. Thank you Arjen, for your beautiful music you brought to us !!

I don't think there was a Sat afternoon show - the matinee was on Sunday. My wife, two kids, and I were at that show as well! Did you run into Damien Wilson while in line? He came out and shook hands with fans as we were about to go in the venue.
Can't wait for this to come out - will finally have the chance to SHOW people WTF was up with this killer show that I hopped across the ocean to catch!!! 💜

It keeps stunning me how a couple of guitars and keyboards replace entire orchestras and make metal become symphonic thunder. 🤩🤘
I said before, I feel emotional to the tears to remember every single detail of this show, this adventure for me. I bought the tickets few minutes before my dad passed away, when you decided to include a 5th show. I couldn't celebrate my acquisition because my cell phone rang to give me the bad news: my dad was in the hospital and that day his grandchildren were allowed to visit him. That was the last day of my dad: november 24.
I kept my tickets to live my mourning. Sometimes life likes to hit us more than once: the pain caused for my dad's death took my grandma's life. She passed away a month and a half after my dad. Two very important persons of my home and life left us in a brief period of time. But in that moment I remembered that we live just once. So, I told my brother that we had to prepare ourselves to travel to Europe to an Ayreon show, because I got the tickets the same day of our dad departure and, as he loved traveling, we must do this journey.
And we were there.
No matter the bad moments, I feel emotional in a good way.
"The meaning of life is to give life meaning."

we were gonna go to Costa Rica for my senior trip but then 2020 happened so my mom asked me where we should allocate the money towards. I said that we should save it for the next time there's an Ayreon show and go to the Netherlands. Best decision ever!
I'm usually not terribly excited for anyone standing in where Floor Jansen once sang, but Brittney lived up to her name and SLAYED it! I'm proud to be from the same place as her! So cool to see this all go down like this. She held up the whole show and blew me away!

To this day this ending is my favourite Ayreon moment. The trade offs, Hansi and Anneke's lines in particular, just floor me. Star One's The Eye of Ra ending produces similar results, just pure epicness.

If it ls any consolation, live sound was a LOT less clean than this recording. Still an amazing experience but not as perfect as it sounds here hehe

4 and a half months later........the most exiting concert in my life. I love Tilburg , I love 013 , I love Ayreon ....Thank you Arjen. you are the best
Third time in Tilburg and what a blast! Ayreon Universe in 2017 already was an such an epic experience, so much bigger than the Star One show I saw live back in 2002. Then back to Tilburg in 2019 for the Electric Castle, saw two of the shows and again, Ayreon raised the bar even higher. At this point you think there won't be any chance to top that any further? Wrooong! Yet they set up another set of five incredible 01011001shows, which I was lucky enough to be able to attend both matineé show on saturday and sunday with my girlfriend and my 12yo daughter. But with Ayreon and Tilburg it's not just about the shows. The whole vibe that the city has while becoming Ayreonburg for one weekend is so amazing. Happy and friendly people from all over the world across the whole town, walking the streets, sitting in bars, cafés and restaurants, talking in all kind of languages. Special Ayreon menues and of course the origin Ayreon beers. Even the local cinema does it's part and shows those recordings of the past years shows on the big screen. Where else could you expect to experience an Ayreon show in the freakin' cinema and even see Arjen and Joost as shady quiz masters in an Ayreon quiz? Long story short... Thanks to everyone who made this possible and was involved in this very special weekend: the band, the crew, the fans from around the globe and the citizens of Tilburg for welcoming this bunch of Ayreonauts every other couple of years! Cheers \m/

I must admit, that performance really got to me emotionally. Kudos to Britney for stepping into Floor's shoes with such talent, and Michael Mills deserves applause for not only honoring Steve Lee's memory but also adding his own unique twist to the song.

I was there on Friday, took a picture with Damian at the line, enjoyed the whole Ayreon-town experience. Over 20 years I had been waiting for this, it was well worth it! Brazil loves you, Arjen!

With an age of 67 I thought to be one of the few “elderly” persons in the audience. Had a fascinating chat with a guy from Finland, 21 years old, and discovered that music, especially this music, is not a matter of age, it is a matter of feelings. And, besides that, I was definitely not the only person in the audience with grey hair..
well with my 30 years I felt as one of the youngest people there. 😂

That was fucking insane. This will go down as one of the greatest live shows of modern metal ever. The amount of talent, excitement, and sheer creativity on that stage is almost unmatchable. So envious of those who got to attend.

I was at the Saturday midday show! It was so awesome and I was happy to be there! Definitely the most fun I've had at a concert.

Epic performance and glad to have been there.
I do feel the video edit is too frantic / erratic, even working against the music at times. Shots that switch mid sentence and switching to a different part of the stage every 2.5 seconds.
But, still epic.

I don't think I've seen this much talent on stage at one time. It's on par when I saw Zappa with the Oakland Ballet and Berkeley Symphony (Kent Nagano conducting) many years ago. And the ego's seemed to be left at the door. Great job everyone. Lucassen is a special person. Sidenote: Both Arjen and Buckethead are 6'7''. I would like to see a Skinny tall Bookend concert with the two of them. :) Once again, great job to all!!!
Someone give the sound-mixing guy/gal an award. This is a really great sound. And look, Ms Slayes on top of the 'usual' extraordinary collection of singers. And a new set which looks very cool. I really must go to one of these gigs one day, but I'm not sure how you find out about them before they are sold out...

Hey I've never seen Gildenlow live and comparing photos of him online with the people on the scenario don't quite match with anyone. Could you tell me please who's Gildenlow here? What's he wearing or something? It's really driving me crazy hearing all these voices in the mix and not being sure who's who in some cases.
