      I think u should try a variable resistor to set a fixed voltage limit. that way u will also easily find out which fixed resistor u need.

    Hello,
    I'm wondering what serves to limit the current from the power supply to the battery? Does the regulator limit the current or is it the resistor connected to the battery? Also, how does the TL431 handle the back EMF from relay inductor coil?

      TL431 is adjustable voltage shunt regulator, it has no substitute, but it is easily available in market.

    Why you should disconnect first the negative line to light up the red led??

      Actually battery needs to be connected first then input dc must be connected,
      When I disconnect battery the resistor triggering bc547 senses battery is full because voltage & current returns or rises to cutoff refrence. And that's why to restart charging battery needs to be connected first, then on full charge it will cutoff automatically.

      @@CreativeTechos There is no bc547 in this assembly, so I still cannot understand the operation of the system since the voltage at the cathode must be: Vref(1+2.2/0.47)=14.2V, the relay should not get excited!

      Yes you can use it, to make it work perfectly, input dc must be fixed at 14-14.5v

      Yes, you can but you need to use 5v realy instead of 12v also you need to replace 2.2k resistor with 1k and instead of 470 ohms Resistor you need to use 1k variable resistor to set your desired cutoff voltage.

      You can use any schottky diode instead of IN5408, 2-3A must be used for 7-8 ah battery

    Nice, dude i have an important question, im going to charge 2 of 6 volts batteries in series my power supply can give me 12v 6A max , we have i and we have a diodie in the circuit we know the diode takes 0.7v lets say as a tax to enter so now i have less than 11.3v to work with , how can u solve this problem?

      You need 13.8V to charge a 12V lead acid series of cells.

      This is auto cutoff charging after full charge, it will protect battery from over charging

    i want to ask, I'm still a kid but I'm curious how the battery charging work and i have this question in mind that bugging me.. do i need a high voltage compared to a battery like for an example i have this 12 volts battery do i need a much higher voltage to charge my battery? like in your video 14 volts is what use there

    If you cut off the charge at 14 volts, the battery will be charged to 80%. After the voltage rises to 14.4 volts, you should wait for the current to drop to at least C/20.

      As I have used 1n5408 general purpose Diode, 3A output max, if you need higher current eg, under 10A use MIC110A Diode.
      The input must be 14v to 14.2v max & 10A maxx
