- Over 2,200 Off The Ball fans joined us in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin on Wednesday night, with thanks to Cadbury - for a night with Manchester United stars Roy Keane and Gary Neville.

Keane and Neville were at the Off The Ball roadshow with thanks to Cadbury, who were celebrating their third year as ‘Official Snack Partner’ to the Premier League with this special evening with Cadbury Ambassadors Roy Keane and Gary Neville.

I am a big Man United fan and Ive suppoted them for years. I also love to read stories of the old days and particularly of the Man United era that Keane and Neville were a part of. This side of Roy Keane we see in this video doesn't surprise me one bit. Giggs, Scholes and Neville for example have all stated in their books that Keane wasn't all about ranting and raving like the perception is. He was witty, funny and supportive. Nobody will respect and follow a leader who never shows a more human side to himself and always gives negative feedback to his teammates. Keane had an aggressive side to him and that is obvious, but the image he has gotten from the media isn't the full story at all. He is one funny guy and I can see why he was popular in the Man United dressing room.
@@KEEK35181 i agree with what you said,Gary has stated before that if they were getting beat and not firing on all cylinders before the manager would have a go at them they had to get past Roy first.I was watching the previous vid on how his career ended at Utd and you get the full story,i'm a Celtic fan and i remember Roy coming to us and he played great for us and even Rangers were wary of him at that time.But could you imagine Roy playing in his prime for us it would have been fantastic.Anyway Roy massive respect what a great player.

True and I commend Keane for his brute honesty..BUT.. you do not question the captain of the ship wether your right or not there has to be a final word and that sat with the gaffer Fergie. I do think United need a new Gaffer like Keano though he’d fix them up for sure.

Reminds me Ray Parlour's story at Arsenal of how all the French players were smoking like mad and the British players were drinking like mad and how he sat there wondering how they were gonna won the league
These last few days I've been rather enjoying hearing Roy Keane on these podcasts, in fact so much to the point I stuck championship manager 2001/02 im the PC just to sign him for Leeds LOL.
Anyway just wanna say, what a leader. Shame what money's done to the game, Him and Viera in there prime, true premier League greats.

Vieira in cm 01/02 was insane. 20/20 in most of his attribute points.
As an Arsenal fan I envied all our competitions leaders (Keane, Gerrard, Terry). Since Viera we haven't had a real leader like Keane or Terry, I'm starting to believe they don't make them like that anymore. Most of these talented youngsters are given HUGE contracts at such a young age, they feel they don't have to work harder after a bit of preliminary success. I'm so happy I grew up watching 90s Premier League football, I would love to see one of these Instagram/Snapchat defenders trying to mark Duncan Ferguson! Haha.
They just don't make footballers like that anymore matey. I support Port Vale and the play acting is rife in our division. They're not fit to be called men.

Roy has always been potrayed as a person who is always serious and somewhat of a killjoy. But end of the day he is the way he is because of his high standards and the strong moral principles he has as a person. which was why he had such strong feelings against Ferguson.. We see in this interview that he isnt always a serious person. He also has a soft funny side, when the time is right. Really enjoyed this interview.

The difference between the modern Manchester United players and the players they had 20 years ago is displayed perfectly right here. Personality and character in abundance brimming here from Keane and Neville.
You can see why they were winners back in their day - the professionalism Neville speaks about, and not drinking is 100% why they won the titles, year in and year out. Add to that Keane's relentless drive and determination not only for himself, but the people around him, and it's no wonder United were on top of the pile for so long.
@Sage & Onion first off, to be clear, im not a manchester united fan at all. in fact i despised and was jealous of their success in the 90s and 00s. but, it's more their winning mentality and mindframe which is clear to see here. they were thoroughly professional, all hungry to win and had the right leadership and teammates around the group to make it happen. theyre reaping the rewards now, whilst jokers like neil ruddock and phil babb are still goin for their pints down the pub, talking about what ifs....
@Sage & Onion yeah i get what you're saying. but i think were discussing different things here. when people talk about United's financial power, bare in mind the main core of that team was a golden generation - giggs, beckham, the nevilles, scholes, butt.... all cost absolutely nothing. Add to that some key signings - van der saar, rio, vidic, teddy, roy keane, yorke, cole, van nistelrooy and its no wonder they dominated throughout that era.
im not disputing that the money helped, but it still takes hard work and good management to build and rebuild succesful squads. something Fergie proved a master at.
FYI, im a Liverpool fan and it pains me singing United's praises!

When you're at the top, certain privileges come your way - it happens in all leagues. No doubt Fergie had influence, but he was a manager completely at the top of his game.
My original comments referred to the strong mentality of the 2 united players in this video. They were winners, had the right attitude, work rate and wanted to win for one another. Thats all im referring to. I dont care about your premiership conspiracies.

You got to respect what they accomplished and those stories from 90's, early 2000's are fun to listen.
To see how much football actually changed is a good thing for every young fan.

You can’t help but admire Roy but at some point any player has to think of the bigger picture.. the team and their fans come first. He’s great TV but fundamentally a flawed character (like us all).

I've seen several very long clips of this interview at this stage.. In every single clip Gary Neville has to fight to speak..its embarrassing to watch.. I like off the ball, but this is shameful lads. The man's a Manchester united legend and he's treated like they don't want him there at all! they only want to address keane.. Really embarrassing!!

I couldn't agree more with this, watched all of the interview and it's extremely embarrassing. The lads constantly cutting across Gary Neville to see what Roy thinks. Really tough watching watching at times.

This is also why you can't compare players from different generations. A Pele maybe wouldn't have been as great in 2019 with his body needing to adapt to more fitness, eating well, sleeping well etc. Maybe a 2019 Aguero would've been even better than Pele in his time. Aguero is far more stronger than any striker was in that time.
