As an ex protestant who is now becoming Catholic, the Catechism in a year is such an awesome gift - and I have to say the explanation on worship in spirit and in truth blew my mind! Honestly so amazingly beautiful! The Catholic faith is beautiful.
It is truly beautiful. I had strayed away from my faith and came back several years ago. Now every time I attend Mass I ask myself how I could have missed the meaning for so many years. Now I sit there in awe and get so emotional. God is so good 🙏 God bless you on this journey, so happy you are here ❤️
Knowledge of our faith is not only illuminating, but the gift of understanding that we are going through. It is the biggest gift in the world! the mass, and what it means, what it represents, and the knowledge that we’re not alone praising God. Yes, there are other people, there praise God, but when the heavens open up, and you think about the angels are there worshiping God with you it does blow the mind and deepens the enrichment of the Catholic faith.
Brand new Catholic here - less than a year and I'm 76 years old. I want to believe this so badly but can't wrap my brain around it. "I believe, forgive my unbelief." I'm praying...... Please pray for me.
We are truly blessed to have such deep rich teachings. Thank you Fr Mike and Bishop Cozzens. May God continue to guide and protect you in all your endeavors ❤️😇🙏🏾
“A linear view of time versus a biblical view of time” - when we go to Mass and participate in the sacraments eternity breaks through time, when we make memory of his death and resurrection God’s eternity enters into now! And we experience it as present time now! This has been for me the grace of daily Mass for the last 7 years. We are so blessed with our Catholic faith. Heaven and earth meet through the Mass and the sacraments- wow 😊🙏❤️✝️
This entire talk just lifts my heart. The Eucharist is everything! Jesus will bring you so much when you receive in a state of grace. What a gift to be Catholic!! What an incredible gift the Lord has given us all in the Church.
Amen, I could have said it better, I'm slowing moving through this CIY as you can see. But I continue to press play. God bless us and yes, thank Him for our FAITH.
So liturgy and prayer actually helps us to get up on the Cross with Jesus and to take part in His actual sacrificial offering ESPECIALLY into the MEANING of His offering to the Father for the reconciliation of of all of us.
At first, when I saw that Day 144 is going to be a long podcast, I was disheartened because I thought it's going to be boring, and the fact that I'm so used to listening to Jeff Cavins in the introductory dialogues didn't help as well. So I skipped this and went straight to Day 145, which I had a hard time comprehending in my heart. However, something's telling me to watch the introduction first and that it's there for a reason. And man oh man, by the middle of the podcast Day 144, I was already bawling listening to what Bishop Cuzzens is saying 😢 It's so beautiful and so edifying! It makes me want to run to mass and receive the Holy Eucharist more than ever. So I thank God now for the gift of Bishop Cozzens through Fr. Mike. May God bless them as they bless many people through their teachings🙏
What a gift! I pray for the United States to become a country where the Eucharist will become central in decision making at all levels. "Give us your heart".
It makes so much sense to me now when Bishop Cuzzens says that God gave us life and this body and we have to give it back to God as He gave it to us. We stain it, we rip it, we make it weak so now by the Sacrifice of Jesus we get another chance to offer back to the Father and make our bodies and souls more pleasing to God.
I would like to thanks both for your topic of Catechism. Its beautiful talk about the love of our God Jesus the son Son of the living father loving , faithful ,merciful his perfect omnipotent to save us for our sins . What a lovely message., he is a divine God , true God and true man. I like to thanks you both that’s I will not forget Fathers Mike Schmitz and Bishop Andrew Cozzen.
Wow! That story of the people of Belarus was so powerful. I remember weeping on the last day of Mass before the lockdowns. I didn’t realize how important receiving the sacraments were to me until they were removed. And I remember the joy when Church was reopened. I pray that never again will the Church cower or bow before the demands of a secular world.
A mere touch of the hem of His garment cured the suffering woman. Why would one not want to receive the Holy Eucharist? My Lord, those who do not want to receive the Most Holy Eucharist must not know. Forgive them Lord they know not what they do. My Jesus Mercy. We pray to the Lord through Mary and Joseph the grace of deliverance, conversion and the eternal salvation for all through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
When difficult concepts are explained with such simplicity and understanding for all, then truly the Holy Spirit is working. Thank you for allowing all of us to witness the Holy Spirit working in both of you. May God continue to Bless you both and all who hear the CIY.
What an illuminating talk. If this was on video tape or audio tape i would wear it out! I want to sqeeze out every drop of information to know how to get closer and closer to Jesus. Amen. Alleluia. ❤🙏
To your question Fr. Mike, "what can I do if I don't feel anything?", what has been helpful for me is my priest's homily: Mass is not about you but all about God.
Rely on the Holy Spirit, ask Him to come upon you in Jesus Christ name, Pray about your feelings. Don't let satan in when he knows you're having any doubt, he looks for the crack in your faith, talk to your Priest, Deacon or someone you trust. Pray, pray, and pray more. God bless you. Praying for you now. I hope Fr. Mike answered you, we all know how busy he is.
"Buckle your seat belt." Pillar 2 will offer us another opportunity to transform our lives and encounter God when Fr. Mike will explain what the liturgy represents and what we celebrate when we receive the sacraments, most especially that of the Eucharist. Praise you, Father, Praise you Jesus, Praise you Holy Spirit 🙏
Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 5/24/2023
The part when y'all spoke of Faith/Feeling brought to mind a niece who left the church because she "felt", she didn't belong there. This was an "INCREDIBLE" study🤗🤗🤗
Between Bishop Cozzens and Bishop Barron, Minnesota has some awesome bishops! What a blessing to listen to the Bishop talk about the sacraments and the Paschal mysteries. My prayers are joined!
Wow, just wow, just WOW! The whole Zachor, Zikhonot, making the past/present/future, continuing salvation tangible in the here and now, resonated for me so much, the tidal wave of the Holy Spirit connecting all the dots was intense and beautiful. This is how God operates; has always operated. It all makes me want to bow down to the earth before God as he is revealed in everything to us, especially in Jesus Christ and the Eucharist. Wow. I shared all of this with my spouse who is not Catholic and my spouse got goosebumps, it was so real.
The Tidal Wave of the Holy Spirit, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find knock and it will be opened for you. That's amazing and I still have goosebumps.
This incredibly powerful video should be shown at every Catholic Church , to every Cathechism class, and shared with family, friends & colleagues. Praise God for bringing us Bishop Cozzens and Fr. Mike Schmitz to bring us closer to our Lord and Savior!
Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
So grateful for this. Thank you so much. This is why I became catholic- so beautiful and well explained. My life is changing through the sacraments and I'm able to experience the Lord in new and deeper ways .
Thank you for a very informative message. I love our faith. I learn more everyday. And love God more everyday. Pray for me, I'm praying for you Fr. Mike. God bless.
Bishop Cozzens, such a Holy Bishop!!! It’s a real pleasure to listen to a Bishop speak so beautifully about God! We need more Bishops like you! Blessings from Fresno, Ca. ❤ 🕊️ ❤
Its magical to hear only his voice; like an angel; and the big letters showing his voice; and the lights are off; and its midnight; and you; shut off the light; and fall asleep. I can't even write at that hour.
This is exceptional! One of the best discussions on the sacraments!!! Really great to hear this wonderful bishop share his knowledge and wisdom along with Fr. Mike who is also such a great mentor. I was truly moved by what was said. Praise God and thank you both (and Ascension Press) for putting this on!!!!!
Catechism in a Year and Bible in a Year have definitely been 'arranged' by God. We need to know our Faith so that when the chastisements come we have solid truth to 'hang on' to. We need to step up our prayers, sacrifice and mortification for our priests - if the devil gets them we are left in danger of hellfire. God is good.....all the time.
Thank you Father Mike, as a 59 year old who with my wife and son came into the Catholic Church in 2013 , going through the Catechism of the Catholic Church is just growing our depth in love for Christ through His Church!
Indeed! CS Lewis had such a catholic point of view! Priests and religious preach use his writings to supplement their message, yet he never received the sacraments. I think he knew that he was catholic but something held him back. I pray for unity for all🙏❤️🙏
The sacraments transcend time and space as we encounter God. We are physically and spiritually touched and transformed. Each such encounter draws us closer to God and gives us the grace to be more like Him. We become sanctified. With every reception of the Eucharist and every confession we become more comfortable and at home in His presence so that as we take our last breath we are ready be with Him in eternity. The miracles of the Sacraments, particularly the Eucharist, are mystical experiences that come alive through faith. Time stands still as we see beyond the veil and experience the joy of eternal life during these sacramental encounters. May we all be open to these sacramental gifts! Amen? Amen!
Thank you Fr. Mike. My prayer is that , may all of these lead to fruitfulness and win more souls to Christ. I have been truly blessed and now have a deeper understanding of my faith as a Catholic.
Thankful for the Lord’s Grace: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5 ...presenting all of myself ; Weaknesses, misunderstandings, fears, desires, hope, etc. on the altar ❤️🩹
This alone is a gift from Heaven! Jesus Christ working , teaching and guiding people like me to understand and love my Catholic faith…wow! Thank you Father Mike!
Day 144 (3 of 6) We need to need to understand how the Bible understands History and Time. It is not just linear. God breaks into History. When the Jews celebrate the Historic event like the Passover, the Exodus, it’s not just remembering what happened, it makes the event present. At the Last Supper, the words, “Do this in Memory of Me,” doesn’t mean to just repeat the words. When we make memory of this event, which happened once in time, it becomes present HERE AND NOW. The Liturgy will continue to exist into eternity. At every Mass and in every Sacrament, TIME FOLDS INTO ETERNITY and ETERNITY FOLDS INTO TIME. Each of the 7 Sacraments gives us a particular grace for a particular part of our life.
This is the most powerful video that has deeply touched me. WOW! This video takes you in and brings you to another place in the understanding of our sacred sacraments. If we, as Catholics truly "get it" and understand what Bishop Andrew Cozzens and Father Michael Schmitz are saying we will never be the same or take the sacraments for granted. Lord, help me to remember this moment when you touch the depth of my soul. Amen
Ive been wrong all my life... because I don't like the cross i see pain and suffering that he endures for all of us and no mother should have to endure the death of their child in front of them she had the greatest joy and greatest sorrow thank you jesus 🙏
Thank you Bishop Cozzens and Fr. Schmitz, I have read ahead, and it is kind of heavy, so glad you have agreed to do this! ❤❤❤we all need reminders of what we are actually doing at mass. May we give our lives back to God in worship and through our lives as God calls each one of us. Jesus is the perfect gift offered to the Father, and you and I can participate in it through placing our sacrifices on the altar, joined with his sacrifice to the Father! Amazing.
This is my second time around listening and learning. I have just discovered that I don't want to stop this...If I am physically able, I will continue to do this every year...it's astounding how much I didn't hear/keep the first time I went through this program. Fr. Mike Schmitz and Bishop Andrew Cozzens thank you for explaining these revelations in my life. Thanks be to God.
Oh my, I am truly shivering from this session. Blessed beyond what I could imagine to hear this. I confess when I saw how long it was, I thought, "WHAT?" But the time sped by and although we did not read today I truly learned and was solidified that my life has been transformed over years as my Faith deepens. I will be attending our Diocese Eucharistic Congress in Mankato MN on June 10. I have been excited all along about this but now I am even more so. Thank you Father Mike and Bishop Cozzens, Gods real blessings to you and for sharing your glow with us.
My goodness, the feeling right down to the core of my being, after confession, is something I cannot describe, it is a feeling of pure bliss, pure joy, pureness.. I love the feeling, it's overwhelming
This podcast was truly a blessing today and beautifully and intrinsically explained. I have been going to Catholic Mass all of my life and did not look at it through this lens, but now will, and am so thankful and feel more in love with and on fire for the faith, God our Father, Jesus our Lord and Savior, and The Holy Spirit. God bless everyone!
We are blessed to have this Catechism in A Year hosted by Fr. Mike Schmitz. Thanking God for he has given us the Sacrament of the Eucharist and other sacraments that would deepen our relationship with God and with others too!
My faith grew today, and I didn't know that was even possible. Thank you again so much Father Mike and Bishop Cozzens! God bless you, and God bless everyone on this journey today and in the future.
All my life, I have wanted a study on the CCC.i have used it in my RCIA classes. Now, with my Bible study class, it is so rewarding and inspiring. I pray for Fr. Mike for his gift to all the world. May God Continue blessing you Thank you Fr. Mike
If every episode of Pillar Two is 45 minutes I wouldn’t mind a bit!!! Wow! I’m going to listen to this episode multiple times!! ✨🕊🙏🏼🕊✨ Praise The Lord! Amen.
The comment regarding the reduced attendance numbers in mass resonated with me as I think it goes beyond pandemic concerns. From personal experience and conversations shared with fellow Catholics, the take-away, to me, is that mass has shifted its focus, transforming into a weekend concert of multiple songs (with almost everything sang- including prayers) and social community notices. The focus is no longer truly on worshiping God, but on the entertainment needs of the parishioners attending mass. If mass could be restructured to focus on scripture and communion, with amazing soul-nourishing guidance from the priest, I think there would be an increase in attendance.
💜 Thank you Fr. Mike, what a fantastic chat. God Bless all the Church leaders and good Priests who promote and inspire people to follow the Lords words.
Wow, opened my eyes as what I have been missing at mass. I pray when I attend this Sunday that God will open my eye’s & heart even more. I have missed much, through my own fault. God forgive me please, amen.
Thank you @Ascension for these special video episodes..it’s a nice break from the podcast format. I’m only on Day 92 and watching this helps motivate me to get to the next pillar! 👏🙏
God bless you Father Mike and Bishop for this amazing introduction, I prayed to God for your continued health and ability to educate the world about our Savior. One thing to share about my journey to eternity, I am so grateful that I have learned and deepened my faith with all of your teachings and sermons. I pray that all those who have left the faith will know one thing, that the truth you have learned about God you can't unlearn and through the grace of God and prayers of all the faithful, those who have left the church will soon return 🙏 God bless you!
All I can say is wow! I have been on our parish liturgy team and honestly it was a mystery as to the meaning of "Liturgy", the purpose in general and why was on there. (Pastor added my name to the distribution list, lol.) At first as Fr. Mike suggests 46 minutes I'll never make it. But once again, wow!! "When we make memory of this we enter into God's eternal time." This is where I want to be! "Buckle you seat belt" understatement of the year for me!
My God, I believe, I adore , I hope, and I love You. I ask forgiveness for those who do not believe, nor adore, nor hope nor love You. Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I adore you, profoundly and offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and differences by which He is offended and by the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners. Amen
As an ex protestant who is now becoming Catholic, the Catechism in a year is such an awesome gift - and I have to say the explanation on worship in spirit and in truth blew my mind! Honestly so amazingly beautiful! The Catholic faith is beautiful.

Amazing.
"Buckle your seatbelts". 46 minutes of goodness!
Faaaaather! It was so wonderful seeing u other than just listening to your voice!! God bless u both, Bishop Cozzens n Fr. Mike!
That's correct your excellency! That's why the Mass is the greatest prayer and form of worship EVER!!! Because it's the Lord's ❤
Wow! Thanks Father. You can apply minimalism in temporary goods but you cannot apply minimalism in Worship of God, in God's presence.
I want to learn about my Lord and savior Jesus❤
Wow what a gift to watch you on video today, Father!
Nice Job FR Mike - guests! Awesome
My goodness, the feeling right down to the core of my being, after confession, is something I cannot describe, it is a feeling of pure bliss, pure joy, pureness.. I love the feeling, it's overwhelming
Fr. Mike invaded my dream last night…..only he was a doctor whom all were impressed with his gift.
Great job Father Mike.
Many thanks and God bless.
Thank you Father Mike and Thank you also Bishop Cozzens! Loved, Loved, Loved This!
May God bless Fr Mike, the Ascension team and all of us as we continue in our journey in better understanding the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
CIY2023-Happy Encounter with the Lord. Godbless Bishop Cozzens. Godbless Father Mike. Godbless everyone.

My faith grew today, and I didn't know that was even possible. Thank you again so much Father Mike and Bishop Cozzens! God bless you, and God bless everyone on this journey today and in the future.
How great was it to have a live chat tonight & be able to interact with each other!🙏😊
All my life, I have wanted a study on the CCC.i have used it in my RCIA classes.
✨🕊🙏🏼🕊✨
Praise The Lord!
Everybody wants to be entertained 🙁

This is a gift thank you Father Mike and Bishop Cuzzons. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, i offered all my sufferings and struggles in the Holy Mass today during Consecration
Wow! That was a amazing to hear. I have just written five sides of A4 paper with some key points. Now I can re-read them and soak them up! Thank you!
Amen
Wow 😮 mind blown Thank you Lord❤
It is quite the journey is it not? I an honored to unite my simple prayers with yours through Christ Our Lord. Amen. 🙏❤️🙏
We are all part of God's family, we must pray for unification, forgiveness, and the glory of the Trinity🙏
Nothing is lost in Christ.
Brace yourself buckle your seat belt I love it! Amen!
Bishop Cozzens is outstanding! I could listen to him all day. Thank you, Fr. Mike for bringing him to talk about worship... I loved it!
Praying for the participants of BIY & CIY 🙏🏻🕊🙏🏻
I can feel the LORD’s presence in this video!💕
Amen
💕💝💕Thank you💕💝💕
