Things needed:
1. An Xperia 1 iii
2. A Windows PC (I don't know if there's a Mac or Linux version, but I didn't find it)
3. ADB Driver adb.clockworkm...
4. A reliable USB-C cable
5. NewFlasher

UPDATE FIRMWARE WITH THE SAME REGIONAL VERSION WITHOUT LOOSING YOUR DATA
open cmd and go to the path of the firmware then type and run: newflasher set_active:a otherwise your phone will boot into a bootloop.
TO KEEP YOUR DATA WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARE(FOR THOSE ON THE SAME FIRMWARE0
If you only delete userdata.sin, your data partition will be corrupt and you will be forced to factory reset and lose all your data.
To prevent this from happening, not only do you have to delete userdata.sin, but also appslog.sin, diag.sin and metadata.sin from the firmware folder as well.
Found this by checking the update.xml file in the firmware folder, all required sin files to delete are listed as "NOERASE".
Power off your phone and plug it into your PC. Hold the volume down button and the power button until the LED turns GREEN.
Now you can double click on the newflasher.exe in your ROM folder and follow the guide. You can keep user data while flashing, just pay attention on the instructions on the Newflasher.

you can flash other regional firmware but I'm not 100% sure that network will work as I have experience flashing a US firmware to a Asian xperia 1 III and my sim does not work.

HI, you can change firmware but i cannot guarantee that it will work well in your country specially if the versions are different.

I'm not 100% sure as I only tested with the same model number, but some users tried Asian to US and no mobile signal.

Hey man, I'm a little confused about what you're saying about delete those files in the firmware folder. From what I understood, if u just want to update your firmare to a newer version without delete all your data, u don't need to delete any files in those steps right? I just want to update my Xperia 1 IV docomo (S0-51C) to a newer version without deleting all my phone data, so I don't need to delete any files in the firmware folder right?
Do you have a guide for sony xperia 1iii (ntt docomo version) because i cannot to 5g and Vonr, limitation only on 4g lte network, but around all civerage are 5g, can you give a guide to overcome the problem without flashing it to global set?

Using the same firmware won't make any changes but using another firmware that might work to enable 5G will do. I have a china firmware and I flash SEA firmware for the 5G to work when I'm in MY.

Hi, to fixed this you have to flashback the original firmware of you phone. I don't suggest flashing other region firmware as this will cause network issue..

Is your BC72 with which firmware? Like in asia, we have SEA,HK and other versions under BC72 and you can flash it to a firmware on which you know it works in your country.

What are the bands use for italy telco? I have tried it here in North America and it's ok as long as you are in the city, I haven't tried to flash EU firmware but flashing US firmware disabled by network with a Xperia 1 III XQ-BC72 model
My Xperia 10 IV A202SO (same region firmware Android 13 to 14 UPDATE)
didn't get Andriod 14 update so i use this method (FIRST TIME FLASHING SONY PHONE EVER)
After first try i got slot "b" active and boot loop
So, I close all tab,nothing change with file and redo the same for second time
then i got Slot "a" active and everytings fine without losing data

Hi can I install XQ-DQ54 EU/UK dual sim esim firmware on my phone XQ-DQ72 ASIA dual firm phone ? . I see that the 54 supports esim but not 72. Are there any workarounds to enabling esim on the 72 or do I flash new firmware to go to 54? Best Regards
Hi, the esim is a hardware even if we flash other firmware it will not work. I also thought I could get it via software.

sog03, not sure if it supports the bands in india. some have the same version only different firmware, then you can flash the firmware that were use on that location.

Hi I have a sony xperia 1 Mark iii SOG03 and it was working perfectly fine suddenly it got stuck and since then it has started restarting again and again I have tried this method and also from the Xperia companion app but the issue is same it restarted and blink green light 2 times and turns on after 2 mins restart again.Any one can help me out.

If you tried companion app and this method and nothing works, looks like your motherboard got problem already.

You can try to flash other firmware with the same model. I'm just not sure if mobilr network will work properly

Do the japanese xperia have the same model number? Because there are issues,if the models are different like the Asia model flash to US, signal will not work. But if same model tyen no issues

@@rixard1491 yes i managed to solve it. You have to connect your device and run the command to switch to A. It will say DONE. Then run the command to install the firmware.. try it and if you have any issues contact me.

Hi, sorry late reply just moved to another place. before you do flashing you have to open a new cmd and do the command switch to slot A. as this is the active partition of the phone. after set to slot A, you can do the flashing.

Asian models can't support US bands 100%. I have a Chinese version and flash a HK firmware and VoLTE works here in canada but the signal is weak like even i'm in a city, 1 or 2 bars only.

The European ee global firmware for xperia 5 iii xq bq52 has working Airtel volte in India but still I have not yet researched to flash that firmware to my xperia 5 iii xq bq62 but i am worried of anything goes wrong then what to do ? Also few of them say to flash that SEA firmware has Indian network settings. All we need to is experiment. Recently I converted my xperia xz premium g8141 to g8142 India firmware but dual sim don't work because g 8141 is single sim variant.

It will work but I'm not sure if the bands will work. As some go issue converting from asian version to north america and cell signal is not working. You can test and if it did not work just revert back to your original firmware.

@@ArmanKhan-zx8sd thank you for your reply i personally have the 5iii SoftBank version so i didn't convert it and I don't have much information but as far as i know when you try downgrade the android version phone itself will not allow so when you update your phone you have to either stick with it or find a way to downgrade the android version

Does VoWIFI work on Xperia 1 iii HK set? Can you guide what to do to make it work? I flashed to SEA firmware for VoLTE bit VoWIFI still doesnt work.
I'm not sure as I left Asia already and cannot test it. If in your country the HK model works then try to flash it. Like when I lived in Malaysia HK firmware works well with VOLTE.

Repaired phone using sony xperia companion. now phone booted to stock rom
Follow this tutorial again and succesfully cross flashed my Sony xperia 5 iii Xq bq62 to southeast asia firmware Xq bq72. need to check if airtel volte is enabled.

@@ruzansbow3755 no Airtel volte did not work on South East Asia firmware. Also tried other region firmwares but no luck. So i flashed again usa firmware( xq bq62) back. So waiting if someone finds a solution for Airtel volte to work.

just got myself a Xperia 1ii, but still have not yet get it. international version dual sim, so i dont have these kind of issues. my question is, will it still get OTA updates? anyone have the phone and can confirm? if not, i will just flash the latest firmware with this guide?
On what i know, 1 II will still get OTA even after flashing different compatible firmware. The issue only started with 1 III.

There is a guide in xda to enable volte and 5G but still it depends on the band that your country supports. The guide requires rooting the phone.
