Always do a reboot from within the Starlink App on the wifi and the router once a day. That will dramatically help with speeds... Also put the dish into stow mode and then hit un stow once a day and that will also force to dish to find a more preferred satellite which helps the speeds big time. I am in a waitlist area with the RV vesion and my speeds are always up near 70-100Mb download. Get 2-3 mesh units as well.... Huge difference !! AWESOME!!!
The best video for my situation yet. This is the very scenario that I am in now. I'm out in the boondocks with very poor internet service, 2-5 mb down at best and normally less than 1mb up. I've been on the waiting list for a while and the Starlink availability map shows that service for us will be in 2023 or later. I've been on the fence deciding whether to try the Starlink for RV or wait it out. After viewing this video, I'll try the Starlink for RV.
I received mine the first week and I live full time in a waitlist area ( which I have been waiting on for two years..) speed averages between 80-90 down and 6 -10 up. So very satisfied except for pricing....
Super helpful review. We're about to order one for a mobile golf simulator we've built that requires high-speed internet connectivity. We will be operating the studio in a variety of locations across the country (NZ) and connectivity was looking like it could be a real challenge. So we're stoked that Starlink has recently released this new RV option which coincides perfectly with the timing of when our simulator is going to be ready.
Especially interesting for RV/Campervan owners would be how much power it uses.. is there any 12 v option or is it just plugged in to a normal electrical outlet/plug, whats the power draw from it in use and on idle.. thanks
Rural Ontario Canada here. I got this last week. Very erratic speeds and latency. LTE internet has better stability. My experience has been horrible 60mbps on a good day with usually under 30/5mbps with horrible latency. I was ready to cancel LTE, but looks like this RV service is going back to starlink unless they let me pause this and allow me to resume to residential plan when they release it here(no guarantee it has been pushed back twice already) Experience has been real spotty and laggy to say at least. This RV pay more to get it early service woke me up to reality that Elon aint some space age saint, but another very vocal business man with beta test product to sell. Long story short, I am loosing hope of internet at my location haha
I have been using the v2 antenna on Bainbridge Is, WA successfully for about 3 months now. Consistent findings on the speeds you are getting. Be great if you could do an update to connecting it to a UDM pro SE through the additional network adaptor. I have been having issues with getting it to see the connection. Thanks.
This was helpful, thank you. I live in very rural Colorado mountain area with extremely limited internet options and very poor/incnsistant cellular, so trying to work virtually has become very frustrating to say the least. I have been on the Starlink waitlist for 18 months, and ordered the RV version/service last week (as we do have a travel trailer and will be doing some traveling with it) . We are in a waitlisted area, but have a service area about 5 miles away (and know of several people using the service nearby) I have not been able to get it to connect at all. I have contacted Starlink several times and been told my dish needs to update, which doesnt seem to happen despite being plugged in 24/7. So, I've shelled out for the dish and a month of service with zero success so far. Any suggestions???
Can you plug a device directly into the Starlink gateway (modem/router) using an ethernet cable? And by doing so is there a gain of bandwidth by eliminating the wireless wifi connection between the gateway and the device? In other words is the wifi connection creating any bottleneck comparative to direct connection?
@@AspenSnowfox I checked the same and it doesn’t show your cell provider if it uses your broadband/Wi-Fi. iPhones do default to 4G if the Wi-Fi is “poorer” (than 4G) so maybe that was happening?
Chris, great video. I have the same Starlink system. I also have a Unifi network at home using the UDM. Have you figured out how to use Starlink as the WAN input for Unifi (UDM)? I have not had any success. I live in a very remote area in the Columbia River Gorge, so Starlink is far faster than my DSL. But, I'd like to make Starlink my primary means of internet. I do have the SL Ethernet adapter. Any advice you can provide would be appreciated! Thanks.
What about also having a HUAWEI B331 3G/4G Router + HUAWEI B331 3G/4G Antenna and cables if you can get it to allow you to have internet when you cannot get internet on Starlink you know as a sort of failover.
So I'm disabled. Thinking about doing the. RV living, I stream on twitch via pc, Would this be good enough to continue my grind for extra cash to support my family?

The PoP would also be in Seattle so it would make sense to test against a server close to the PoP.
