    Well, I went and bought one of these kits. (just the frame for starters) WOW! at first I was nervous, but everything went pretty easily. My kit didn't have the same screw setup in front to hold the canopy dowels on, It had one screw, facing forward, in to the delrin piece, that I had to leave out, cuz it interfered with the circuit board when I tried to put that back on. Mine also came with 6 small white, what looked like some sort of crossmembers, with a screw on each side. Had no clue where these would even go, so they got left out. As usual, Microheli comes through with more 'Man jewelry', as I like to call these tiny little works of art!
    And yes, as far as dealing with Microheli for a long time, gotta be around 17-18 years ago now, I loaded up my Shogun / Zoom heli with all sorts of microheli goodies! Also my old T-Rex, when they first came out as well.

    I rebuilt my nano s3 last weekend after putting it off for about a month and my god what a PIA. I needed to replace the mainframe, so everything needed to be taken off and moved to the new mainframe. The 2 screws that hold the main rotor hub on to the main shaft are microscopic. What I find best for the smaller screws is to use a bit from an electric screwdriver, but just use your fingers to turn it.

    Looks Fantastic! I strongly recommend MircoHeli Parts, 3 blade kits are great, have fast shipping, and fair prices. I will say after daily use of 4 nano S3's the 3 blade conversion was more sensitive to temp and humidity. If you fly Nano S3 3D 3 Blade YOU WILL BURN OUT MOTORS 3 to 1 off Stock. All brushless conversions I have used had no issues I have found. Cheers!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 года назад +1

      Thank you, yes like all brushed motors the more load you put on them the faster they burn out. Brushed motors only last so long as it is. That is the reason brushless is so much superior not only for power but longevity! If I ever find a brushless conversion I would definitely do it on this helicopter. But finding the motor and ESC is not easy lol

    I did this upgrade a couple months ago but it is seriously lacking power, I may have overlooked some things... did you change any settings on the controller (as far as it is possible to do so)? it is very difficult to keep altitude and gaining is almost not possible. It feels like a heli that is set to low rpm and high pitch, but I tried everyting that comes to mind regarding pitch/throttle curves without succes. does this heli require calibration of the throttle input? I have an old transmitter, DX8, so I can't just download the current config files from other users.

    Nice build! I’ve been considering just upgrading to an aluminum swashplate based on reviews in RC GROUPS. I’m concerned about the added weight. With all the added weight you’ve added here, how has it affected responsiveness and stability?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Год назад +1

      Not a problem at all, if you are just adding the swash I would not worry about it. The nano is a very light heli. It crashes well in stock form but the swash is not the best. The MicroHeli swash plate is the best thing you can do to this thing, big improvement. Mine is not as light as it was but it fly’s so much better! Like a whole different heli!

    Great build and upgrade 💯👍
    WestHobbiesRC, quick question, since I'm confused which double sided tape should I use for securing the *Brain2 unit*: The black one, or the red one? The black "3M VHB" double sided tape/adhesive mounting tape came with the FBL-unit and the red "3M VHB" double sided tape came with the USB external interface.
    Which one did you use? The black one?
    Is the red one for attaching the USB interface to the frame?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 года назад +2

      The double side tape does not matter. I use all of them. I buy a big roll of the 3M double sided tape from home depot. I use the Red backed from Ikon as well. As long as it’s a good 3M tape your will be good to go.

    • @Abszurdista-fatalista
      @Abszurdista-fatalista 2 года назад

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 I am sorry, it turned out I was talking about the transparent 3M double sided tape. It was backed with red, so it appeared red. But doesn't matter, I already used the black 3M for securing the Brain2. Some 3M stuff isn't quite easy to get (over) here, but I think I found something similar from TESA. Anyhow, it's unbelieveable 🤦‍♂I secured the Brain2 for the third time since building this heli, and every time I get it a hair off of centre. Visually barely noticeable, but it is a bit off. A bit less than 1 mm. Could this cause tail drifting?
      Btw, the Brain2 is now turned around, cables to the back, nice and "loose", no tight squeezes anymore for the cables between frame and unit, causing vibrations to be transferred to the unit. I attached the external USB interface to the frame, I don't know how you managed to place the unit on the tray so you can get the micro connector SYS/IO in an out. For me it's now permanently connected to the interface (doesn't matter to me). I also put some CA where the FBL-unit's tray connects to the frame to assure there's no play. Further, I managed to balance the main blades to 0.00 g difference with identical CG. I *really* hope the tail will be now straight and stable (but again, could the unit being 2 hairs off cause tail drift?)

    I definitely love the looks and quality of the of the parts.. but I gotta say … I haven’t seen a flight video but I know these motors are already lacking in power although still a good flier … I’d think with the added weight even if it is 6 grams it would make this heli even more of a scale type flight model… not sure there would be enough power for an inverted flight it ticktock …💁 not to mention this kit being more expensive than the heli itself even as a rtf … that being said … if I made the big bucks I’d probably still try it😂
