I was blessed and missed the pressure of being chief cook and bottle washer this year. Our daughter came early on Thanksgiving toting the turkey and all the sides!! She was organized and had a plan. She even had us preheat the oven so it was waiting on the bird. Commotion ensued when our son and his children arrived . It was great to have the holiday seasonal shenanigans. I slept until 1:30pm Friday!! Your food looked amazing, as always. Until we visit again, get geared up as we do it all again in less than a month!! ❤ Momma G
Are You ready for VLOGMAS!!! ill be visiting you quite a bit in December! How are you doing I have not heard any thing and I am counting that as a blessing. You have just been showing up. I was so worried when you had those correct me if I'm wrong it was on the eyes.
@@modernhomesteadalaska doing better more days than not. I have two grandsons to buy gifts for and I will just wait for Amazon to deliver. Heart function is in a race with kidney failure!! I’m one of those weirdos that prefers canned cranberry sauce to homemade, but your version with the jalapeños had my mouth watering! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Brighten the corner your in. I don't know if you realize how far your light shines out into the world. Thank you for bringing so much joy to many in far away lands :)
The jalapenos in the cranberry sauce make so much sense! I always like strawberry preserves on jalapeno poppers. The sweet blends so nicely with the heat. I am going to add some to the cranberry sauce for Christmas and see if the fam approves!
Jessica, I love watching your videos! Thank you for sharing these awesome recipes and tips. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to you and the family! ❤
Thank you so much, it means a lot! I like to make the same things over and over they are what brings back happy memories to hear them tell stories its worth it.
Cody has great taste in pies 😊, rhubarb pie or crumble is delicious. Rhubarb and blackberry or rhubarb and strawberry is amazing too. As a Brit I grew up eating rhubarb fresh from the garden peeled and dipped in sugar, and it was my version of sweets (Candy). Quick tip. When your down to the last 1/4”-3/8” is the cheese left instead of binning what’s left, pop it in a baggy and pop it into the freezer. And if you make a risotto or soup (creamy) drop it into the soup and let it cook for a few minutes and then take the rind out and it will make it really silky and delicious.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! You can replace corn syrup in the pecan pie for maple syrup. It definitely gives it a deeper flavor but I do love it. ❤
WOW girl you wear me out just watching you I don’t know how you can be so cheerful and bubbly the next day and not be exhausted from all that cooking! Needless to say very happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and that very happy dog full of pie😂😂😂😂❤🦃💯👍🏻🤗🍽️
Happy Thanksgiving, Milnes family!! I hope that your holiday is awesome! I have been making my own cranberry sauce for years, and like you, my recipe is off the top of my head. Kudos on making the pie fillings ahead of time. I hope that your Mom and Grandma are doing well. Thank you for another fabulous video, and I will see you soon.
Thank you so much! My mom and grandma are doing well. she actually could sit long enough to have dinner with the family and my mom came over for it all too
Made about 27 jars of cranberry juice and use the left over berries in a cranberry compote. Canned that as well. The cheat method for making pies is awesome. Never even thought about freezing the pie part ahead of time. How great is that. Just made Rhubarb bread. Home grown. I have a pup helper as well in the kitchen. Adorable. Love Fig preserves. Great spread!
Great video, I love how you do everything and make it look so easy instead of these big complicated productions that make it look impossible. Everything looks delicious. Have a wonderful dinner, and blessings for you and your family. 🥧🍗🥧
Fantastic ideas, Jess! Thanks for showing how the filling you froze fits into the crust. 😊 Cranberry Jalapeños?!! That's now on my list. 😊 Love all the pie flavors, your family is very lucky. Take good care, Jess. 😊 See you next time!
Hi Jessica and sweet family! I’ve made cranberry sauce with apples, oranges and pears more like a chutney because my dad loves pears. It was delicious and everyone loved it. Pecan pie is my favorite Thanksgiving pie, I just love pecans by themselves and walnuts. You are right, family is the most important and making memories. I hope your grandmother and mother are doing great. Everything looks delicious and I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving, also everyone has a very blessed weekend!
For Thanksgiving this year my Grandson requested a Maple cream pie with a brown butter pie crust. He even sent the recipe. I had never heard of browned butter pie crust (one thing that I do not do well is pie crust) but since he requested it of course I made it. It was the best pie I have made in a very long time. I hope your family had an amazing Thanksgiving God bless
Well, that was so fun to watch! Thanks for sharing your kitchen and cooking with us again, now I have a cheese ball and also the BLT dip recipes to make and take to family gatherings this holiday season!
Everything looks delicious! Dogs will be dogs lol my dog ate an apple pie off the counter my MIL brought over for my pregnant daughter a few years ago ! She cried, my MIL had to make her another one lol sorry you missed out on your pie Aaron , hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving 😊
Oh my I cried too. I make everyone a pie and my daughter Kalob it was his first thanksgiving with us and it was his pie that got destroyed I felt so bad
Thank you, Jessica, for the interesting videos. I especially love how your cheerful personality always shines through and that there's always a touch of humor in your content. However, a quick request for Aaron: please fix your wife's wobbly kitchen table. Warm greetings from Finland!
Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. My family and my sisters family went to our moms for Thanksgiving. Mom doesn’t cook much so we made our Thanksgiving dinner. Times too short notice to spend it with your family. Now I look forward to doing the same for Christmas weather permitting.
I like that you do most things ahead of time. I can't make the traditional green bean casserole. My grandson's wife is allergic to mushrooms. I have to make it with cream of chicken soup instead of no mushrooms. Surprisingly it tastes really good with the cream of chicken soup. I was really nervous last year that no one would eat it but I didnt have any leftover 😊. This Thanksgiving I made extra. Yaya ( me ) needs that leftover lol.
Oh my heart went out to you when you said you lost two pies! I understand all the time and planning it takes to get things prepped and done ahead of time so you yourself can enjoy the day. And you were already behind schedule..but for a good reason. Plus you were filming! You're in a different season of life right now, but you're doing ok. I would've had a good cry about the pies..to release some pressure..lol But I'm happy you all had a good Thanksgiving. I know in the big picture of things it's just pie.. but not really. There's more behind those feelings. You're doing great. Remember to be nice to yourself here and there. And I have to say, I have never seen the freezing the pie filling trick before. That's wild..lol..and works! I did get a little nervous when I saw all the dogs in the kitchen, but I thought they'd go for the meat, not the pie. Maybe dogs go in another room until the meal is over next holiday. 😄
Oh lol I am to blame I set it on the cooler on the porch to cool and said don’t let the dogs out. And I was the one who forgot and let the dogs out. Right there at dog level was a pie and 5 pups! It was on me for sure
Love the idea of individual cheese balls. It all looks wonderful. Oh lol I was wondering if the dogs ever get into anything. Our dog climbed a chair to get to the top of the refrigerator to get a sandwich. Smh. Happy Holidays to you all.
I soak my nuts in a good burbon and then put the remaining liquor in the mix , nut use a large tartpan to put it in the crust making it a tart because its so rich.

@modernhomesteadalaska I started doing the early prep after back injury n then 2019 the accident that left my rt hand messed up n I'm rt handed so I've learned to use knife with 2 fingers n thumb
I'm in Australia, so don't celebrate Thanksgiving 42:56 as such. You have, however, given me some great ideas for side dishes for Christmas dishes this year. you are appreciated
I really enjoyed watching you cook. I’m not a fan of green beans casserole. We never had that in my family. And I never tried it. It grosses me out. Always home grown fresh green beans that were frozen from summer. BUT after watching you make it with onions and mushrooms cooked in bacon grease. I’m going to try making it. Your’s didn’t look gross. I wanted to ask you about the BLT dip? Does the crispy bacon get gummy/soft sitting in the sour cream overnight? Also I grew up with marshmallow topping on sweet potato casserole. But as an adult I learned to make it with a pecan streusel topping. It’s delicious. I always enjoy watching you cook and Aaron cooking that big hearty bean something he did on the stovetop about 6 months ago. I can’t remember what it was called. Alaska sure is different than the east coast. I only been on cruises to Alaska. Going again this summer.
I always rinse n check aswell but this year I did the vigar n baking soda as my Dr said they are 1 of the most pesticides treated things n something about dirty dozen?? idk but I did do the vingar n baking soda a hotish water rinse real well then made idk if it mattered but I felt better lol lol knowing I may or may nit have washed off yucky stuff
nvr grn bean anything I can't eat or stand grn beans n 1 son does not either idky but I n he will Dry heave as a k8d I would n could not eat idky everyone else loves them but I gage. this year my daughters friend was going to do casserole as it's her fav but instead did bacon wrapped asparagus n asparagus us my favorite lol well one of my favorites
o bake on pan just so it ezier to take in n put but I was in car accident n only have use of thumb n index finger on rt hand so I don't want to drop lol
That sucked lol pieless.! And how was the doggy I'm sure his guts were a brewing after that pecan pie😂😂 been there before we all have some kinda Holliday Action! Good memories though😁
lol he got the banana cream pie. I set it on the cooler on the porch all my fault I said no one let the dogs out until this pie cools. Guess what.........
All the food looks so delicious. Although, the green bean casserole must be an American thing. I am Canadian and have never seen nor tasted green bean casserole. I’m just over 60 and of anyone I’ve never known anybody to cook or serve this thanksgiving dish. I see everyone in America cook this particular dish. To be honest, it doesn’t sound too appealing to me. On the subject of dishes made regularly is the biscuits and gravy dish. Not a thing found here in Canada that I’ve seen. Only had biscuits and gravy once at a restaurant travelling through Montana. Anyways, hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.❤
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I appreciate your feedback on the recipes! We eat so much biscuits snd gravy. When Kodie and I went through Canada we fell in love with the fries and gravy and cheese you all do. I don't know how to spell what that is. We now make that sometimes. Its funny how food is so different in places not so far apart
Always enjoy the cooking and canning you do. Oh, and gardening as well. I live for gardening season, and can a lot of what I grow. The fries gravy and cheese curds is called Poutine also my favorite(pronounced both “Pooteen” & “Pootin”). My dad was also German, so ate many unique things that he grew up with also, and still love to this day. I grew up in Kamloops British Columbia, but have lived in Hinton Alberta(40 minutes East of Jasper) for 31 years. Been to Alaska twice, once on a cruise, and once my husband and I drove the Alaska/Alcan highway and continued to Fairbanks, then we went over The Top of the World highway, down through Dawson city and home. Was beautiful up there.
I had never heard of mac n vhs for Thanksgiving n I had nvr had real mac n chs . as a k8d I had kraft type 1 time n the girl in neighborhood made her siblings lunch n she boiled noodles n dumped powder no milk no butter that was my first n last time l9l yes I made fir my k8ds when lil only cause they asked buti always dr it up added real chesse garlic onion powder pepper n lil sour cream n they lived it but I still would not eat n last year my son made it we went to costco n he was buying all these cheeses n thought he was going to party lol n he made mac n chs for Thanksgiving n man it's was delicious so he made fir me on mom's Day. this year they stayed in lv as 5am today they had wrestling practice so they stayed in lv n went to his wife's mom's n step dad's home.

I think that is why people don’t like green bean casserole because of the canned green beans. ❤ what a spread.

I'm in Australia, so don't celebrate Thanksgiving 42:56 as such. You have, however, given me some great ideas for side dishes for Christmas dishes this year. you are appreciated
Wonderful! I think it’s some good ideas for all the fun holidays ahead, we even do the cheeses and stuff for New Year’s Eve party too
Substitute grand marnier orange liqueur for oranges. Costco has it. 🤩
Oh my gosh! I am going to have to try that next time!
@@modernhomesteadalaska Amen little sister😇
We dont do Thanksgiving here in Australia,But am a big decorator and fide for Xmas
That’s amazing I’m so excited to Christmas
Love it thank you!
Made sure the bacon is super super crisp and it holds up fine. It won’t hold up well if it’s only cooked to soft to start out.
