I really like Crossguard against bosses and single opponents. It's probably the hardest style to master in this game but when you become proficient in it you can melt enemies pretty quickly. Crossguard is a high risk/high reward type stance.

I’m an og with single and crossguard. Single is reliable when dealing with weak and mid level enemies. While you have crossguard for the beefier enemies. Also single and cross guard have an amazing look on your belt.
You know they did a good job with these stances. As every video I’ve seen on this subject is different and all correct for different reasons. Perfection.
dual wielding when there is a minigunner is music to my ears when I deflect all the blasts back to the enemies and cross guard just does so much damage and is so fun to use
Dual Wield and Doubleblade have been my favourites, there is a big focus in the blaster stance in game and pretty much everyone seems to love it but idk..... I don't like
Yeah, I don't like the blaster stance, either. It seems to janky and un-fluid. The doublebladed and dual-wield stances feel the best and melt enemy shields while giving you insane mobility. Crossguard is probably the easiest to use 1v1, but is absolutely horrid against groups, which you'll most of the time be encountering.
The marksman and ambidextrous perks make the blaster stance MUCH better. I also HIGHLY recommend never repeatedly pressing square once you equip these perks. The combo that is fastest plus deals the most damage is alternating square and triangle back and forth (lightsaber and blaster). This also has the highest chance to stun lock enemies and with a fully upgraded tree plus the right perks, you'll find yourself rarely out of ammo.
You seriously underrated the dual saber stance. You didn't mention perhaps its most important feature, that you can animation cancel into a block to protect yourself against an unexpected attack.
I love that there's so much debate regarding which saber stance is best. There are videos arguing that each stance is better than the rest; credit to the developers for refining each stance so tightly that everyone finds their own playstyle. That being said, I would love to see a video from you @jorraptor about which saber stance combinations are best. Talking about the stances in isolation leads to different conclusions than discussing the stances as one-of-two equipped. I agree with your comments about the cross guard, however, equipped alongside the doublesaber stance I firmly believe it is the most deadly stance in the game. You almost always fight enemy groups in this game. Doublesaber allows you to clear out the weak enemies in a group - you can then switch to the crossguard and obliterate the stronger enemies in a one-on-one duel. Some may argue the blaster stance is better alongside the cross-guard but I just find that stance so... uncivilized...
My usual go-to combo is Dual Wield and Blaster (I use this when I'm just out exploring), but for crowds I switch dual wield with double blade, and for bosses I switch blaster with cross guard.
I'm a traditionalist when it comes to stances, single blade and double blade are my stances of choice. They cover both single and multi-target encounters and play as expected. Maybe my next new playthrough will use other stances, but for now, I stick with good and tried onse.
I really enjoyed the blaster stance in conjunction with the dualblade. I used the blaster stance for its range and ability to press enemies and break thier posture, and use the dualblade when dealing with groups.
Me too but I also used doubleblade for large single targets like Oggdo and the Rancor, and for story based duels for my immersion. feels like cal would fight another jedi with saber only. Also feels the most cannon because the story pushes you to use the blaster as it’s always in your holster whether you use it or not, and on top of that it’s well documented Cal prefers double bladed saber like his master Tapal
Love the idea of the cross guard, but I’ve been running my double bladed as my main and dual wield as my backup, love the long combo strikes in dual wield and the blocking in double bladed plus the fast attack combo
Single does not get enough credit, with the dash attacks and force push and the aerial dash attack means the single is the most aerial playstyle especially with jumping being the most effective dodge
I am sure while people are busy debating which stance is the best, the DMC gang be thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if you could switch stances though". DMC gang where you at?!!
I play like Luke used to in the OT. Blaster Stance for free roam and exploriing but for boss fights I go Saber Staff. I think for Cal, the Saber Staff as his heavy hitter is fitting considering Jaro Tapol was his Master. So for narrative and story elements. Thats why I use Saber staff.
Crossguard is hands down the best for bosses and small groups. Using the wrench pull and then combined with the spin attack you can get some fun crowd control too. Def my fav in the game. And it’s just looks so damn cool
I feel like the charged shot return is slept on, easiest way to take out droideka, staggers enemies and deals some high dmg. Not to mention taking out enemy block meters in 2 hits then slamming them down with an overhead swing is very satisfying.
The Dual blade saber is listed with low damage. Yet it hits so many times and so fast it's doing tremendous amount of damage in actuality. It's my favorite in that it's loaded with attack animations and you can really deal with single and multiple targets. That deflect skill where is can just send back all bolts fired to multiple enemies is super good. Single blade is also good because it has so many different skills in it. I don't really like the dual wield as much because it feels lacking somehow. Also very weak defense and that's not good. Makes you a glass cannon, but without the cannon part, lol. I don't feel it does more damage.
I absolutely love the addition of the darth maul esque whirl wind attack or whatever it’s called, where he flies forward twirling the dual blade thru enemies . They did an amazing job of keeping the old technique, and adding complimentary attacks .
I agree that the Saber/Gun Stance is my number one, really love the mobility, combination with ranged and up close attacks. So here we go , I would say 5. cross guard 4. single saber 3. double bladed 2. dual and 1. gun/saber stance. Dual is just too good with groups and the mobility is insane, thats my holy sh*t red button in boss fights lol. Currently in New Game Plus, loving this game so far.
I personally love every single stance and cannot decide on which one to use. Currently I’m using single because I love the long dash attacks and it’s a classic. I love crossguard, but if it’s going to be so slow, they should at least make it able to block those heavy attacks, after all, the crossguard is meant for defense
The thing abt crossguard is that its meant to be a weapon you suppose to parry with which is why it has great defense, people mistake crossguard for being an offensive weapon because of its damage but your actually suppose to parry your enemy to leave them open for you to attack unlike the dual saber which is purely for offence bc of how fast it is.
Exactly you get it my friend. Crossguard is it's about predicting your enemies movements and attacks and then you parry and once your successful bring their guard down with that mean uppercut or left slash.
Duel blades in the blaster has been my go to stance in my first play through.. in general tho it takes time to get to grips with how cal attacks because one tap of the button will have 3 moves locked to it so spaming is not something anybody should do lol leave a lil time before pressing buttons to continue your combo's
On Grandmaster Dual Blades and the Blaster stance are the best by a long shot - the first for attack cancelling and the second because of the ridiculous reach, very fast animations and charged shot stagger. Against bosses and most stronger enemies the other stances - Crossguard especially - often force you into a very defensive playstyle, while the aforementioned two allow you to play extremely aggressive most of the time, once you're comfortable with the movesets. That being said, I just love the animations and overall feel of the Crossguard, so I just combine it with the Blaster stance for a solid mix of playstyles. EDIT: I forgot mentioning the shot parry as a plus for the Blaster stance. Being able to use that while blocking in case you mess up is pretty damn strong.
I like to pair the crossgaurd and the dual blade. they're basically exact opposites of each other, so it makes switching between situations much easier. like when fighting bounty hunters, a some majority of the time there's going to be 1 or so, but have a couple of guys to back them up. being able to stagger and kill off the lesser somewhat, then focusing on the big guy when the distractions are gone with the crossguard.
You traitor......jk not really. I thought I wouldn't like that stance but I super surprised to say the least. I love the how fast it is and the balance between the the flurry move and the blaster meter.
What I do is I use the blaster as my main stance and the cross guard as a secondary stance. I use the blaster for normal enemies and for running around and dodging bosses. I use the blaster to get in close to the bosses and then switch to cross guard and use the slow to get off some big damage and when I need to switch back to blaster to get some distance. Might experiment with other stances as a secondary but the blaster stance feels the best for how I play. (Also I was able to do the 150 droid challenge with the blaster stance fairly easily)
For Jedi Grandmaster I found Crossguard very good because of the extra defense and punch. It was basically my boss killer. Blaster was very good for keeping pressure from afar too, and the best for bullet sponge enemies. I will now experiment more with dual sabers, because I found out about the animation cancelation somewhat far into my first playthrough, but I think it is climbing up my rank. Dual bladed I tend to use only around groups.
completely agree with your video. My top two stances are blaster and double bladed. Double bladed comes in clutch for any fights with a ton of range. Blaster just dominates any boss fights. I play on jedi grandmaster so its crazy important to play safer.
Depends on the enemies wouldn't you think? I can't even put any of the stances on a list from good to worst. I like all of them. Half the time I have to feel a certain vibe in a certain moment to decide before a main mission.
I’ve used Blaster and Dual Wield my entire first play through. I think for the second play through I’ll go Double Bladed and Single just to have a different experience
Noone seems to mention anywhere that the blaster and blade work independently of each other. You can shoot while doing your lightsaber hits and it seemlessly combos in making the bonus damage to lightsaber after shooting just free damage. You can also hold block and tap the shoot key to activate pointblank and if you miss it you still block since you can block without lowering your guard. Point blank makes you lower your guard however so be wary of a second attack hitting you while you do this. Also with the duel sabers you cannot dodge cancel your attacks, but you can block cancel your attacks and after you block cancel you are free and open to dodge so in effect you can dodge cancel your attacks if you quickly tap block first.
Cross guard sacrifices speed and agility for more high damaging attacks, it just requires you to be a little more methodical and careful with your hits and helps not getting too greedy when your opponent is open.
5. Single 4. Dual wield. 3. Double blade 2. Blaster 1. Crossguard Once you figure out distance, dodge, and counter it's silly op. Especially with the upgraded deflection that sends a charge shot back at them.
I actually really appreciate that you put the Single Blade at number 3 because a lot of people are disappointed it's not really anything new from Fallen Order and placing it at 4 or 5. It's actually incredibky useful and like the stats, it's really balanced. It has range and enough damage to be a solid option and imo it feels faster than in Fallen Order. It's definitely a very solid option and I actually really love it.
The cross guard with the charged bolt deflect ability will instantly break the droideka shields with one shot, just something I noticed that I didn’t notice you mentioning
For me, best was double light saber and the one with the blaster. With the double you are fast and have good defense. Especially when you use L1 and square where you spin and attack. It's gotten me through a lot of spots.
I run Single. It has useful aerial force attacks. Jumping is a defensive tactic that I don't see many using. Single allows a jumping dash attack that adds offense to this defense tactic.
I see all these guys talking about Dual Wield and dodge-canceling, which is nice and all, but here's my piece. Doubleblade is the best because not only do you need it regularly to deal with heavy gunner troopers and large groups of enemies, it completely shreds enemy defenses, from both the endless amount of hits it deals and through it's easy-mode parrying. I pretty much just used other stances for flavor; when I was serious, it was Whirling Blades of Death time.
@@Copperbollex yeah same. He is right though it’s hard work to use if there is a big group. I’m just going round collecting all the items so I’m going to try other styles.
I really enjoy the dual-wield and double-bladed stances. The double-bladed stance has very quick and extendable combo strings that make it perfect for dealing insane damage during guard breaks. And its gap-closer melts guard and deals a lot of hitstun. The dual-wield stance deals a lot of guard damage and allows you to block-cancel, making it very adaptable. Both stances are great against opponents who move around a lot, which this game has a ton of, and they look the coolest imo. On the contrary, I've found the blaster stance to feel incredibly janky, unfluid, and just sucky all around. And its jab and lunge attacks have the hitbox of a sewing pin, while feeling very awkward to use. Not a fan despite having been a fencer in the past. And I found the cross-guard to actually be the easiest to use 1v1 and 1v2 since it takes advantage of the incredibly long and obvious telegraphs enemy attacks have in this game and just melts them. However, when fighting groups, it's basically useless.
I love all the stances and I'm happy the additional stances adding onto what fallen order gave us don't fall short. The blaster stance is my favourite because it's so refreshing to see a jedi use a weapon other than a saber while fighting. I would have liked them to allow us to use all 5 stances in a fight instead of limiting to just two, but I can see how that might be harder to implement than just sticking with fallen order stance controls on the left and right d-pad (sorry pc players idk the controls lol). It definitely would have been cool to be able to switch between all 5 stances in one fight to better play to each of their strengths, like double-bladed multi deflect or blaster range or the powerful strikes of the cross guard, but I guess that defeats the purpose of creativity with environment and force powers in combat.
I should add that I don't want the five saber stances at once for convenience/I'm too lazy to go to a meditation point or workbench, nor do I want them all at once because I think it'd be cool mid fight to use all five in some wacky combo (it would). The main reason I want all five is because I will find two stances I like the best and stick with them, as opposed to using each one equally, and it feels to me at least that I'm missing out on the other three stances that I wouldn't use as often (not that I would absolutely never use them, but it'd just be infrequently)
Yea I would like to be able to use all 5 as well. It takes FOREVER to go and change them out especially when you’re out in the middle of nowhere lol. I thought of a way to fix this, let’s say you can customize 2 stances per d-pad side, so on the left one you have single and double bladed, then on the right side you have dual wield and crossguard (stick with me). You can change them just like before, but let’s say you have single on the left side equipped, you can hold the left d-pad to switch that side to the double bladed, and same thing with the other side. What about the blaster stance you may ask? Well when you equip the single lightsaber, maybe you can customize a way to change the single to blaster and back if you want. Idk, just my thoughts and I felt proud of them so I thought I’d share lol
I cant wait to get the game eventually. Im a new dad still and most of my money is needed for my young apprentice. Ty for your insight im stoked to play it
Recently started trying the Ambidextrous perk with the Blaster stance and the damage is quite impressive. Not as strong as the crossguard stance, but it's faster which almost makes up for it. Shoot an enemy, attack them, get your bullet back, repeat.
My fav is probably the blaster stance. Being able to shoot enemies that are high up is great for clearing out ranged attackers. Quickdraw is also a great skill for what is an instant kill for most enemies
What is your favorite lightsaber stance in Star Wars Jedi Survivor?👀
Crossguard

@@PlazDreamweaver crossguard even in 1v1 when you face a fast guy it's hard and most of the times you are crowded anyway 🤷🏻♂️
@@calie03hoodexactly I am fucking Jedi !!!
You didn't mention perhaps its most important feature, that you can animation cancel into a block to protect yourself against an unexpected attack.
crossguard stance is my favorite because it's so satisfying to use.
blaster stance is nice too since you conserve your force bar for using push, pull or confuse
Currently using dual and cross guard. Was strongly considering blaster for my next playthrough, I'm sold now. Thanks.
Been using the blaster & double blade stance since I unlocked it definitely the best combination
I haven’t experimented with the blaster stance much. I used it to kill a flying Bounty hunter so far but thatsnit
Single and Blaster have definitely been by 2 favorite.
Single has aerial abilities and Blaster is jus OP.
Switching between Crossguard and blaster has proven to be very effective for me. Yes Crossguard is slow, but so damn effective when you master it.
Every video Ive watched has had a different ranking which really shows that they did a good job balancing to give different preferences to playstyle
Yeah i was in love with blaster real quick
My list is:
1: Double Bladed
2: Blaster
3: Single
4: Crossguard
5: Duel Wield
Depends on the enemies wouldn't you think? I can't even put any of the stances on a list from good to worst. I like all of them. Half the time I have to feel a certain vibe in a certain moment to decide before a main mission.
I like Dual weild bcuz attack cancel & blaster because distance. Blaster is just nice to mix things up too.
Also with the duel sabers you cannot dodge cancel your attacks, but you can block cancel your attacks and after you block cancel you are free and open to dodge so in effect you can dodge cancel your attacks if you quickly tap block first.
ims so debated in my mind rn, i love dual and double but i want to use blaster but dont want to lose either one. Any tips? ❤
Cross guard sacrifices speed and agility for more high damaging attacks, it just requires you to be a little more methodical and careful with your hits and helps not getting too greedy when your opponent is open.
Crossguard and blaster stance are my go too, power and speed, plus I have the perk that deals extra damage when switching stances *chefs kiss*
5. Single 4. Dual wield. 3. Double blade 2. Blaster 1. Crossguard
Once you figure out distance, dodge, and counter it's silly op.
Once you get the hang of cross guard its alot of fun and you feel pretty badass
The cross guard with the charged bolt deflect ability will instantly break the droideka shields with one shot, just something I noticed that I didn’t notice you mentioning
I noticed that too. Very useful as it stuns them and gives you a brief moment to close the distance
You need to use the jump attack for the cross blade. The startup is much faster
Crossguard has been my favorite stance along with dual wielding. It is so fun.
Crossguard is an awesome stance ever since i got it i havent stopped using it
@@Copperbollex yeah same. He is right though it’s hard work to use if there is a big group. I’m just going round collecting all the items so I’m going to try other styles.
I haven’t played this game yet but I’m already in love
Crossguard and blaster stances are my go to stances.
Although I disagree with a lot of what you said I still enjoyed hearing your opinion; it was very insightful. As always great video man!
Rest In Peace Rick the door technician
Also blaster stance lets you shoot while mounting your Nekko, pretty fun in my opinion
Works for me regardless of stance equipped
I’ve started liking all of them a lot, but…
5. Single
4. Dual
3. Cross guard
2. Double
1. Blaster
Ty for your insight im stoked to play it
I am claymore/hammer guy in Soul's games, I m using the crossguard almost exclusively. Dual blade is super powerful too.
Recently started trying the Ambidextrous perk with the Blaster stance and the damage is quite impressive. Not as strong as the crossguard stance, but it's faster which almost makes up for it. Shoot an enemy, attack them, get your bullet back, repeat.
5:48 amazing camera angle on that fire, looks great in slo mo
My fav is probably the blaster stance. Being able to shoot enemies that are high up is great for clearing out ranged attackers. Quickdraw is also a great skill for what is an instant kill for most enemies
I use Dual sabers and Double sided, I love em and don’t care about shooting no gun.
I use blaster and double blade there my fav hands down
only played it once and had single saber and gun&saber, used the gun stance most because its was very different and fun.
It was a good video! My top 5 is: 5. Crossguard 4. Blaster 3. Single 2. Dual Wield 1. Dual bladed 😅
I can't really decide between blaster/crossguard, blaster/double, and dual/crossguard
