I’ve owned the same saw for just over 8 years... the cable tidys didn’t last very long nor the dust bag but the switch has just failed.... after 8 years! and it’s nearly all that has gone wrong with the saw, sure the release button for other bevel has popped out and won’t stay, but I’ve kept it poked In a. hole/slot in the saw forever since, the markings for the angles are off by around a mm or-two on the right hand side but other than that it’s not a bad saw in all. I’ve changed enough blades on it to know that if you’ve got issues with your guard after blade changing or removing it then you are not putting it back on correctly as it must be in the exact same position it came from, iv yet to need a new saw but I do hope there is a much better design overall in future, there’s many things unaccounted for anyone who uses mitre saws will find that out eventually

Here in Sydney, the various drop saw from Makita have a warranty of just 2 years while Hikoki , Bosh have 6 YEARS, no wonder!

I wish they would make it in Japan again.

I totally agree with you, I bought the same model here in the philippines and it was not cheap, here are the issues i have had so far. 1. Blade guartd not going back over the blade properly each time but sometimes. 2. the rear large tilt side to side adjustment lhandle broke off. 3. the push down release button for the compound adjustment broke and popt out. 4 the 2 sliding pipes have rusted. 5. and worst of all the rear fence have bent after a couple of misshaps ( wood slamed into the fence, my fault but still. 6. its not been possible to adjust the fence in a way where i can get perfect 90 degre cuts and angled cuts, its one or the other. I have probably spend 2 days in total ane still i icant get it to cut acuratly.i am not impressed. my conclusion is that i expected to much of a chop saw that is perhaps designed for building a house not making fine furniture. i am glad i have a good table saw.

Hi Emil :-) Im glad Im not the only one ! apparently Makita seem to be having a lot of problems with other tools too, well here in NZ anyway. I would suspect the ones made in China.

Don't think Il buy one. Un-boxing doesn't show the machine being actually used. What's happened to Makita ? oh I know, now made in China!

My guess is that it has been impossible for Makita to conduct quality control in the Chinese manufacturing facility since covid, and so down goes the quality. Pity, I was about to buy this one :(
