Shumi actually touched on a very interesting topic at the start - choosing the bike that you want. I don't really know how to find what I want from a bike! While these videos help a lot in figuring out whether a bike will match the requirements a rider has for a bike and the concessions they are willing to make, I'm very confused how I can figure out exactly WHAT I like in a bike. I've always been more of a car guy than bikes, and my fascination with bikes has only really come about since I found the MotorInc channel (thanks Shumi!). My family has never owned a bike, and my long term experience was just being able to borrow a family friend's old splendour to go to college for 4 months before we got our Vespa. Over this past week, I've been lucky enough to be able to ride my friend's GT650 and another friend's Gixxer for a couple hour long rides at night around Pune. This also led to me impulsively going to my nearby Triumph showroom and test all their 400s (T4, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X). It gave me an opportunity to live all the points that Shumi and Karthikeya have made about these bikes in the past, and I was elated when I was in the saddle having fun. However, I know that my opportunities to ride such fun bikes is limited, and at this point it would be reckless to replace the workhorse Vespa with a less practical bike unless I was completely sure I'd be happy with what it offered. tl;dr - How do I figure out what I like in a bike with limited riding opportunities?
Owning a few cars and bikes, what I can tell you is this; # First hundred kms or so will give you a crude 'can you live with it' answer in a yes or no. But not if it's worth living with it or not # Spend at least 500-1k kms on a vehicle and you'd know 75% of what it's about. Rent it preferably. In cases where you cannot absolutely spend that much time, you'd be in the dark, there are no two ways about it. Spending for our hobby/luxury (non commute basically) of riding, there's always a risk. Which is why there are so many people selling good and expensive bikes within the first or second year itself! They just bought the idea of what that motorcycle was, not what it actually was. The more you ride, the more you'd know about your likes and dislikes, nobody can answer that for you # We tend to focus on whether a bike is good for the highway/city, but the truth is in our country you'd have to make your way through both no matter what vehicle you choose. So, it should be able to gel reasonably with your expectations in both the situations, although it might do one better than the other (which is natural) # Don't buy the idea of 'new and shiny good, pre-owned bad'. In the initial stages you actually want to have less pressure on yourself to maintain the pristine paint, to be gentle, to break-in the engine, etc. Just ride with less focus on machine and more on riding. Pre-owned is a better bet. Don't like it? Sell it off, and you'd be better of for it. Just put in some due diligence before buying from someone There's no one type of bike that you can expect to spend your whole life with. Changes in available technology prevent that from happening anyway. Depending on your age and the phase that you are in, you might shift your choice from one to the other. What you like in the present therefore matters more. Spend your life with it and enjoy while it lasts
Beautifully encapsulated story. I really like the wheels. I just can’t digest the rest of this bike’s design! I would place this in a garage with a KUV300. Both go in the hideousness hall of fame.
Hey Shumi, you know why it's a great time to be alive? you guys have hit 390k subscribers, and most people who've been following your work over the decade probably know that the number 390 is very special to your heart. Congratulations on the progress, mate. Cheers!
Filtered my choice for a sub-500 cc based on specs.. RE Meteor, Honda Highness, Triumph 400. During the test drive this one felt the most comfortable, less noise, linear power. The looks are alright, as I was not looking for a trophy. If the top variant was available in different/lighter colour schemes, I would have bought it already. I will wait.
I think Hero took inspiration from the Honda CB 300R, not that it is bad thing, but when you copy a design, you can't be lazy, you need to do some efforts which hero never did I suppose. In fact I really like the way this bike looks. A Neo retro themed bike is a craze for many like me. But we already have Husqvarna Svartpilen, Honda CB 250R for these., and they look already awesome. And someone who is willing to pay this much can spend a little extra and get the Harley. Finally we all want a bike that looks and feels special. If not what's the point in having all these different bike designs at all in the first place.
Man… i m not sure about Hero will make gold out of it… Motorinc has begun producing pure gold content… Bravo, keep up these unbiased and pure gold content pouring in… u r surely going to grow more than a Utube channel… A brand name in itself. Yes, Mark my words 👍🏻
My friend bought the same model, this bike you ll get the feel of riding metal and it feel solid which gives you a big smile. Design is subjective. Suspension is unbelievably next level. In this price I think this would be one of the best value for money. And he Is happy and it’s a head turner
I'm gladly waiting for the facelift to come because they are making changes to the suspension, additional colour, filling the gap where Harley has buttons on the handle and changing the instrument cluster. And I've done a test drive also.
Concur 100% on this review. Had taken test ride of Maverick as part of my next motorcycle purchase recently. I liked the reasonably soft suspension, riding triangle and engine character. I am 6.1 height and this bike had good riding triangle amd ability to straddle (bad roads). Design was good but not desirable as you also mentioned it. The Triumph Scrambler 400x had better suspension and more desirability quotient and that's where I went finally
This is probably one of Motorinc's best produced videos. Combined with Shumi's legendary commentary, I know exactly what the Mavrick is and I am continually entertained by the thoughts I take away. Motorinc is the most wise, and well produced motoring channel in India and, dare I say, a lot of the world.
I rode it few days ago and it really surprised me, fit n finish is good ,in person it looks really good and engine is smooth n torquee…hero really hit it out of the park for the price on this one….only con I felt is it’s console,it’s really small doesn’t looks good
Shumi sir 🙏🏾 the way you present a motorcycle review is pure bliss to watch. Hope 'Hero Motocorp' watch this video and take your suggestions seriously.
This is a beginner friendly motorcycle to me despite being 440cc... I rented it and drove it with less than 30 hours of motorcycle driving experience(31 yo, 5ft 11in and 1.5 yrs of commuting on Jupiter 125, practiced on Honda Shine).. This motorcycle really welcomes you irrespective of experience. The weight (191Kg) is well balanced and easy to forget once you get on it. I tried moving and putting on center stand cb350 and mavrick and i found that moving mavrick for some reason was easier maybe because of handle position. In theory it could be the first bike in someone's garage, if they are willing to look past the following: - looks and finish; job done with wiring - relaxed nature of engine as its a long stroke engine and is not supposed to be revved much, it will get the job done with less effort. - Service and Reach. There are less Premia showrooms in Blr. But premia showroom staff seemed to be more knowledgeable and professional than Hero 2.0 staff. Rented this bike through royal brothers as i did not want to dent a new motorcycle from showroom during test ride.
Thanks for sharing @jobinabraham8405 glad to hear it was so comfortable (in all senses of the word) for you. But would you consider buying it as-is today? 🤔
@@motorinc I have mixed feelings as of yet. As my first bike, i just wanted a powerful (but not too powerful), easy to handle low-revving commuter which i wanted to retain for considerable time without thinking about switching.
Seen the X440 which is big as 400cc+ bike and looks little intimidating for new riders. But this one looks smaller and more friendly. I like the tank which is the second beautiful only to the legendary very first Gen Pulsars.
I stumbled upon your videos recently , as I was looking out to buy a bike. Your videos are greatly entertaining and informative. But one thing missing is , as far as I looked you don’t rank the bikes from worst to best. It will be helpful to someone like me who is trying to buy my first bike. Or at least give your bike suggestions on different price ranges. Best bike to buy below 1 lakh , under 2 lakh and so on. I value your opinion very much and so may some others.😊😊😊
Hello @Unknownguy77-mp2jp! Thanks for the kind words and the trust. The reason we don't make lists at MotorInc is we don't think they work for everybody! Motorcycles and cars are intensely personal purchases and what doesn't work for someone might be the perfect choice for someone else. So, we'd rather help each person find the right vehicle for themselves instead of reducing their options to a few from an arbitrary list. In your case, we'd suggest that you make a list of all the motorcycles you're interested in, take test rides of all of them and shortlist and go from there. You can get back to us if you have more questions, of course! All the best! 😊
Hero definitely needs better seats in it's stable . I was soo close to considering the xpulse 200T 4v , I failed to find alternative seats for a better pillion experience. Excellent chassis , excellent suspension . Not so practical seats.
Finally, he mentions the Unicorn. The cash cows of Honda - the Activa and the Shine easily find their way in their conversations, but never have I heard Shumi talk about the original Unicorn, although Karthikeya is a Honda fanboy. It might not be the most powerful, not the most selling motorcycle in the segment, but damn was it a robust one compared to its rivals. Only in recent years did it slowly start to fade out along with Honda's reputation.
The bike has a strong resemblance to the HH Hunk in terms of design ( rider sits inside the bike and not on top of it with a confident rider triangle). This is more evident looking from the side angle. While I had the Hunk back in 2008, the only issue I had was it struggled post 100 kmph and can comfortably cruise all day long at 80 kmph. I always had a dream of getting a Hunk that can cruise at 100 kmph at low RPM. Glad that Hero did it with Mavrick

The main highlight in mavrick is engine and I'm convinced with that and design needs a improvement not that bad at all looks are subjective although it's doesn't look bad at all. Well that's a good review 🎉
Maverik reminds me of my first real motorcycle- hero honda hunk❤ specially the red version. I had the most amazing time of my life riding it. i always loved how the cb300r looked and this is pretty similar. Hopefully will get one in january ❤ and it will be RED. I think a lower handlebar and removing the grab rail will make it look much sportier
i actually feel the Mavrick is a decent looking motorcycle. Better than way too busy bajaj or other hero bike style. The design has definitely grown on me. It has certain character to the way it looks, what that is? yet to be answered. But i feel it has the making of a classic modern Indian cruiser.
Thanks for the view. It really made me take a step back and look at it better. The sylvanite ore analogy got me realising if i am spending this much I can't just be loving the engine and have to see the rest of it. Here's hoping the fit and finish is also improved along with the other updates in 2025 model. I am in no hurry, activa can still be used for few months😂. Thanks shumi for the clearer picture🤜🤛 Ps- the tail section shaking at 5:30 😅
@@motorinc So far, I’ve only been to the new Premia service center for two services, and the experience has been fantastic. However, it’s a completely different story with the regular Hero service centers. Previously, when I tried the regular service center, I had to visit three days in a row, only to be told each time that they were fully booked for the day. They even said I’d need to leave my bike there for 2-3 days just to get it serviced.
I love this Channel ❤️❤️from buying advice to Shumi's dark humor , not as dark as Jawa's future though. But Hero doesn't honour the warranty,I have a 2020 Extreme 200s and I need to claim the warranty a few months back. Hero' s answer to that was you haven't serviced your bike every 3 months so we won't give you the warranty. Hero' s service and part availability for anything other than splendor is "maybe be available in a year" at best , the worst part being that the dealers being proud of it, that the bikes are so exclusive that part availability is a challenge 🤦🤦😂😂
My findings from a restrictive 15 mins test ride - the flatter exhaust pipe angle. That could have been an upswept one, which would have looked so much better on the design aesthetics part...and that big blank grey patch on the left hand side switch console, shouting out the Hero logo...
My relative purchased this bike a month ago and I have ridden for good 100 km and it was good - suspension was good, engine got go torque, is fairly refined and sounds good but it's looks leaves at lot to be desired. From front it reminds me of cb300r but from back ' I don't know ' . Those big shockers are the problem they stand out too much, it feels wierd to see them in such a big bike. He has installed two metal side bags, surprisingly the bike looks good 😅😅😅.
Wonderful video as always! Saw one of these in the wild. The visuals of it seem very underwhelming given the price point and what it is trying to be. Looks a bit blame imo. But that ofc is a personal preference!
I am having it and rode it for more than 200 k.m now, the suspension is very good indeed, it is not unicorn way stiff, than suspe sion had started giving me backache

# Spend at least 500-1k kms on a vehicle and you'd know 75% of what it's about. The more you ride, the more you'd know about your likes and dislikes, nobody can answer that for you
# We tend to focus on whether a bike is good for the highway/city, but the truth is in our country you'd have to make your way through both no matter what vehicle you choose. So, it should be able to gel reasonably with your expectations in both the situations, although it might do one better than the other (which is natural)
# Don't buy the idea of 'new and shiny good, pre-owned bad'. Just put in some due diligence before buying from someone
There's no one type of bike that you can expect to spend your whole life with.
Haha! Thanks for letting us know, VK!
Hey Shumi, you know why it's a great time to be alive? you guys have hit 390k subscribers, and most people who've been following your work over the decade probably know that the number 390 is very special to your heart. Congratulations on the progress, mate. Cheers!
Thanks a lot for staying with us @harshaokin8064! We appreciate it...
@@gaurav37 you could get the tank painted … changing colour in registration is pretty inexpensive
You should wait, updates incoming with usd forks and Harley instrument cluster
@@dewangpatil7891 👍 hopefully soon.
Why not consider the mid variant in that case @gaurav37? You're really not missing on anything important.
@@motorinc those diamond cut rims looked really 🔥
*Review is feelings through words.*
"Everyone has 6 packs but you need to eat less and work more to show them" - beautifully spoken Shumi!
It is Like a student which scores good marks but never Tops in the class 😅 it's a Hero 😂🎉
🤣
🤣🤣🤣
What a beautiful review...full of art. Loved this one.
Thanks @hirakd2800
I think Hero took inspiration from the Honda CB 300R, not that it is bad thing, but when you copy a design, you can't be lazy, you need to do some efforts which hero never did I suppose. In fact I really like the way this bike looks. A Neo retro themed bike is a craze for many like me. But we already have Husqvarna Svartpilen, Honda CB 250R for these., and they look already awesome. And someone who is willing to pay this much can spend a little extra and get the Harley. Finally we all want a bike that looks and feels special. If not what's the point in having all these different bike designs at all in the first place.
Man… i m not sure about Hero will make gold out of it… Motorinc has begun producing pure gold content…
Bravo, keep up these unbiased and pure gold content pouring in… u r surely going to grow more than a Utube channel… A brand name in itself.
Yes, Mark my words 👍🏻
Thank you ❤️
What a review man❤. I agree with each and everything u have spoken about this motorcycle.
Glad you loved it!
U agreed but did you understand any?
My friend bought the same model, this bike you ll get the feel of riding metal and it feel solid which gives you a big smile. Design is subjective. Suspension is unbelievably next level. In this price I think this would be one of the best value for money. And he Is happy and it’s a head turner
Glad to hear that @SubratDeyindia! What does the friend think of the service experience?
I'm gladly waiting for the facelift to come because they are making changes to the suspension, additional colour, filling the gap where Harley has buttons on the handle and changing the instrument cluster. And I've done a test drive also.
♥️
What a fantastic review! Shumi you are a genius
Glad you liked it @berlinbaby7529! ❤️
And a great choice you made there too, Murli! Congratulations!
Well balanced and thoughtful. Keep coming up with such views.
🤜🤛
This is currently my favourite motorcycle review by Shumi
Wow, thanks Hari!
Schumi, Karthik and others in the motorinc team that we do not see, good job guys. Tasteful content creation. Good job
Thanks a ton! We'll pass your compliments on to the team!
Your way explanation made to watch this video till the end 🎉🎉🎉 great work 🎉🎉
Thanks @YouTheReal
This is probably one of Motorinc's best produced videos. Combined with Shumi's legendary commentary, I know exactly what the Mavrick is and I am continually entertained by the thoughts I take away. Motorinc is the most wise, and well produced motoring channel in India and, dare I say, a lot of the world.
Glad you're enjoying the MotorInc experience Lalith!
I rode it few days ago and it really surprised me, fit n finish is good ,in person it looks really good and engine is smooth n torquee…hero really hit it out of the park for the price on this one….only con I felt is it’s console,it’s really small doesn’t looks good
Thanks for sharing your perspective Bobby!
Shumi sir, how are you this poetic with the reviews, its sooo gooooood🤌🏻🤌🏻. Can't wait for the Bear 650 review, hope you're working on it🤞🏻🤞🏻
Thanks @kumararvind9081! We're still waiting to ride the Bear 650 though 😅
Shumi sir 🙏🏾 the way you present a motorcycle review is pure bliss to watch. Hope 'Hero Motocorp' watch this video and take your suggestions seriously.
Thanks a ton Rakesh! We'll pass your compliments on to the team!
It looks like a Mashup - Rear section - Commuter(CBZ / unicorn) + mid section (naked bike) + front ( retro)
Yes, it could certainly have been better
Been waiting for the review. Thanks shumi
Thanks for your patience, @LordOfTheElden!
In theory it could be the first bike in someone's garage, if they are willing to look past the following:
- looks and finish; job done with wiring
- relaxed nature of engine as its a long stroke engine and is not supposed to be revved much, it will get the job done with less effort.
As Always, Nicely Put❤
🤗
In eicma 2024 this bike showcases with golden USDs,new grey colour, TFT instrument cluster which same as HD x440....
🤜🏽🤛🏽
You review like poetry😊 waiting for mavrick 2025, will buy for sure.
Thanks a ton! We'll pass your compliments on to the team!
Seen the X440 which is big as 400cc+ bike and looks little intimidating for new riders. But this one looks smaller and more friendly. I like the tank which is the second beautiful only to the legendary very first Gen Pulsars.
Thanks for sharing your perspective D-Ghost!
Waited sooooo long for this review
Thanks for you patience!
Reviews like a poet! Damn!
Thanks for watching @sibinsam8050! 😊
Excellent video. Love it. MotorInc 🤘🏾
Glad you enjoyed it @ashsam661!
Easy-going, minimalist, and witty... These reviews are excellent. Perhaps they'll make me ditch my four-wheeler and opt for a bike some day!
Let us know when that happens @JongiB96! 😅
The possible facelift (Front Fork lift) at EICMA looked cool..
Thanks for letting us know!
Hero definitely needs better seats in it's stable . I was soo close to considering the xpulse 200T 4v , I failed to find alternative seats for a better pillion experience. Excellent chassis , excellent suspension . Not so practical seats.
Thanks for letting us know EB!
Shumi is the best in this whole genre, whatever it is. I don't even own a bike, and I'm always entertained!
Thank you very much @longtalljay! Glad you're enjoying the MotorInc experience!
Hat's off to that closing dialogue "that's a shiny rock" 😂😂
Thanks TOE!
The review is mind-blowing..
Thank you!
Thanks for letting us know IP!
Hey @motorinc I love your content. You have the best real Indian automotive content. Please don't lock the videos that people actually want to watch under a pay wall. If you can't make it free. It's still fine, everyone needs passive income. At least make the pricing of the All Access Tier.. accessible. The All Access Tier is the one to get coz that's where good stuff is. But Rs.399 per month is just too high. Even streaming services don't have this level of pricing.
Feedback noted Ebin!
Thanks for sharing, @Ashes-9!
Once again a perfect video. Thank you :)
Thanks for watching @LeoRevenant999!
i actually feel the Mavrick is a decent looking motorcycle. Better than way too busy bajaj or other hero bike style. The design has definitely grown on me. It has certain character to the way it looks, what that is? yet to be answered. But i feel it has the making of a classic modern Indian cruiser.
Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Mind-blowing narration, just learned English all over again 😅. Silver Knight (not sure about the spelling) but got the point ❤
Thanks NNT! That's sylvanite
Bro who writes your scripts ........ First time came across your channel and I love the way you explain things
Thans @birajaprasad9116! We'll pass on your compliments to the entire team.
You are like the Jeremy Clarkson of Indian, so professional with thought leadership, shows that you have years of experience in the industry!
🤜🤛
Me just vibing to the music all along.....The BGM is excellent. Why did you change it in the middle? Or am I tripping
Thanks for the feedback @vishnuvarshan8304
Thanks for making the review
Our pleasure!
Thanks shumi for the clearer picture🤜🤛
Ps- the tail section shaking at 5:30 😅
🤜🏽🤛🏽 Glad we can help, Sarthak!
Clip ons(for the messy wiring), a more classic headlight and a better seat design would do wonders
Agreed!
1:17 So its a good bright student 😂
😅
Eagerly waiting for the Jawa 42 FJ review from you. Because I know the review will be on point❤️
Waiting for the test bike
I've been very happy with this bike for the past six months. It's definitely worth the price.
Thanks for sharing your perspective Sid! Glad you're enjoying it. How has the service experience been?
@@motorinc So far, I’ve only been to the new Premia service center for two services, and the experience has been fantastic. However, it’s a completely different story with the regular Hero service centers. Previously, when I tried the regular service center, I had to visit three days in a row, only to be told each time that they were fully booked for the day. They even said I’d need to leave my bike there for 2-3 days just to get it serviced.
Excellent review..felt like a film
Thanks a ton! We'll pass your compliments on to the team!
The last dialogue is 🔥
♥️
"But what is this designe"😂.....so poetic ....❤love the review more than the machine ig
Thanks for watching @Dipayan_dey
Hey @whatthehell5288! You should read the warranty - it's in your manual. The service clause is within the top 5-7 clauses in the document, in fact
My findings from a restrictive 15 mins test ride - the flatter exhaust pipe angle. That could have been an upswept one, which would have looked so much better on the design aesthetics part...and that big blank grey patch on the left hand side switch console, shouting out the Hero logo...
Thanks for letting us know @AIRMotovlogs!
Hey Nishant! Please do congratulate your relative, and thanks for sharing your perspective!
Beautifully explained ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful @finderskeepers7293!
Got one.....the handling is so insanely good...
Thanks for sharing @RoshanSandil-m2r! How has the service experience been so far?
Thanks bud 🤝
We gotchu! 🤜🤛
Wonderful video as always! Saw one of these in the wild. The visuals of it seem very underwhelming given the price point and what it is trying to be. Looks a bit blame imo. But that ofc is a personal preference!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts @daksh_saroha!
Indeed @daksh_saroha and looking at the comments, we'd say you aren't alone. Hero definitely needs to do something about this.
I am having it and rode it for more than 200 k.m now, the suspension is very good indeed, it is not unicorn way stiff, than suspe sion had started giving me backache
Congratulations, Ranjan!
Thank you Mr.shumi
