Hot take, but I think Miles could become my favorite Spider-Man after Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out, I love all the Peters, but he's kinda the most relatable to me 🫣
That would be the definition or a supporting character lol. An antagonist or antagonism is a character or something that gets in the way of, or actively going against the protagonist' goal. Doesn't have to be evil.
Now imagine watching all of them along with all the other animated spider-man shows, all the live action spider-man movies (including the venom verse), all the x-men movies (I would only watch the deadpool and maybe wolverine movies), and all the mcu movies. That complete multiversal binge watch is gonna be crazy.

Shout out to Hobie Brown for Best Support! doing little but meaningful things for both Miles and Gwen throughout the film. Loved his character! really matched how he is as Spider-Punk, not blindly following orders.
I'll never forget when I went to watch Into the Spider-Verse expecting a little crappy mid Spidey movie, and getting out of the theater with it becoming my favorite Spider-Man movie over time. I thought a sequel would be unnecesary, but with all the trailers and reviews, I honestly think this could become my favorite film of 2023. AAAAAH SO EXCITED :)
I didn't even know the first spiderverse movie dropped in cinemas there was little to promotion where I'm at but when I watched the digital release I was surprised by the movie and the fact that not a lot of people were talking about it, it instantly became my favourite spider-man movie as well.
I didn't expect much, but I thought it'd be decent. I took my son and when we got home I was more excited than him... I was absolutely gushing to my wife. It felt surreal how amazing it was.
Same man. I had such little expectations and it turns out to become my favorite movie I've ever watched. I'm so fucking excited to go watch it tomorrow!

I was absolutely speechless once the credits rolled. The sheer artistry on display near drove me to tears at several points -- the powerhouse storytelling, the love for Spider-Man, and MY GOD, the drop dead gorgeous visuals. The animators outdid themselves by leaps and bounds this time. And the entire cast was fantastic, but Moore and Steinfeld killed it!
I’m a film critic in Salt Lake City, Utah, and after we got out of our critic, screening, people were leaving the theater cheering and laughing and clapping like they had just been on a crazy roller coaster. I can’t wait to see it again!
I just saw it. It's even much more of a love letter to Spider-Man than the first one. It respects the Spider-Man mythos while, without going into spoilers, is also basically a giant middle finger to the Marvel Comics editorial team for how they've run the Spider-Man comics for the past few years. It's both a love letter and a bold declaration of protest. I love it. My only gripe of the movie is that it definitely is Part 1 of a longer movie. The story is incomplete. This feels like Avengers Infinity War, basically.

When you treat the movie like that, Across the Spider-Verse feels like a massive payoff and the start of a grand finale to the saga.

Man i watched it yesterday and i can confidently say this is my favorite movie of the year so far, the emotion, the stakes, everything that had to do with his family, the way it takes it's time on a lot of the scenes, THE LEGO SPIDEY, THE CLIFFHANGER! LIKE HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO MAKE THIS ONE EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE?!
I brought my mom when I saw the first Spider Verse. I was excited. She was not. She came out of that movie so excited for the potential of a sequel. We are going to see this for sure
I loved how Spectacular Spiderman made an appearance in the movie. Even if it was a cameo when Miles meets the other spider people, I'm so happy to see that version of Spider-Man getting some recognition years after the show ended.
Damn the movie was so amazing. The fact that Gwen x Miles is literally already a Canon couple makes me wanna watch the part 2 of the movie so bad already!
As a Puerto Rican myself it’s amazing to see Latino representation in Marvel, especially in a character as iconic as Spider-Man. I know Miles Morales’ character goes beyond just his ethnicity. But, it’s amazing and touching to see myself in a Spider-Man character who’s both Puerto Rican and a relatable young adult with normal young adult problems who is growing and maturing and coming into his own as a superhero, but also a young man🕷️🕸️🇵🇷. And I love his relationship with Gwen (they're so sweet and wholesome together) and his parents and how his parents influence and impact him. Because his parents love him so so much and he loves them too and it’s beautiful to see them help him through these stages of growing up. And it goes to show just how important it is to have both parents actively and lovingly involved in your life, especially your father. The father-son moments between Miles and his dad in the first movie were so touching and heartfelt and I’m excited to see more of those moments with his mom in this one. His parents aren’t perfect, but they love him so much and it shows.
It doesn't hit theaters in my town until tomorrow, but I can't wait. The first movie was such a milestone in the history of animation. I just know this is going to be even better.

The end credits.....was just emotional and beautiful. By the final act I was on the edge of my seat and I didn't know then that there was already a sequel ready next year. This movie was just an emotional rollercoaster.
Into the Spider-Verse was a perfect film and is my favorite comic-book movie. And as you said, they managed to clear that bar again and arguably better in many many ways. I cannot wait for Part 3. This might become the greatest comic book movie trilogy of all time.

I successfully avoided any spoilers and finally saw the film. 100% believe this is the best CLIFFHANGER ever. Where Empire Strikes Back just sorta lingered, The Two Towers left on a dark note, and Catching Fire/Mocking Jay lingered and ended on a dark note respectively, Across the Spider-verse did it right by leaving me excited without dragging out the film.
Just watched it too and wow what a ride. It is so emotional, for every age group, and the action and animation is really on another level. Go watch it in the cinema. ❤

There is a reason why spider-man is one of, if not _the most,_ beloved Marvel character, that at one point even stood amongst the most iconic comic book heroes like Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman, and I feel like this movie encapsulated everything that endears this character to our hearts.

This is one of those moments where the sequel actually tops the first one. This movie is amazing! I’m in a roller coaster of emotions watching this. I agree too on this is a more personal story for Miles and also Gwen, despite being a gigantic scale movie, fantastic story and development. The animation, ho ho boy, they level it up even more. Can’t wait to see it again 🔥 🔥 Oh yeah the trailer show you this and it’s true: There are lots of Spider People in here folks 😅😅. I to the Spider-verse is one of my favorite superhhero movies, and thats coming from someone who generally doesn’t give a rip about Miles Morales as a character. It's that good, and I'm really looking forward to the sequel.
You know when movie directors and animators, or just anyone in general works on a movie says"they hope you enjoy this experience". Well I feel like that's what this movie is, an experience. The emotion, the music, the animation, the story is all so pleasing to me that it feels larger than any regular movie tbh. The investment people have in this character and the emotions felt coming out of the theatre room is what makes this movie so great, and it is a great experience. 👏💐 Congrats to everyone who worked on the film and the soundtrack as well.
I think the first movie is a pretty different tone than this one, because I spent most of this film STRESSED for all the characters. The first one has way more comedy and levity.

Great review! I am looking forward to this film! With Miguel, he is far into the future of the current Spider-Man line as in not part of MIles world, in Peter Parker's world future. With the Scarlet Spider, looking forward to seeing him, as if you look it up online, The Clone Saga...ran for years and almost ended the Spider Man series, I hope there is jokes with that!

I saw it earlier 9/10 just because of the ending! We all know it, ending's gonna be a cliffhanger it was so abrupt didn't notice it was already 2hrs. Animation frame by frame 11/10 definitely deserves an Oscar it was out of this world never seen anything like it in any Hollywood animated movies. Must watch!
Yeah Into the Spider-verse is one of my favorite movies (along with the Incredibles) so I had great expectations coming into ATSV. I could tell that they'd done it again by the end of the intro! Soooo good

I'm not seeing it until Sunday, so that's 3.5 days away; my hype was already maxed out, and then you guys just constantly gushed about it, and basically said that all the things I was hoping for are, in fact, done, and *done better* than I hoped.... I'm not even exaggerating when I say that, while listening to your review, I started tearing up a little just from the pure inability to contain my excitement inside my body. SOMEONE GET THE TARDIS, I NEED TO SKIP A FEW DAYS 😅
Watched it last night and i have to say, this might be the best Marvel movie ever. Love these movies so much. The writing is so freaking good and seeing the interactions between the kids and the parents is just so great. I cannot wait for the next movie!

Some scenes are truly unexpectedly emotional, and that last plot twist ... I mean i can see it from a mile away, but the delivery .... SO GOOD!

I successfully avoided any spoilers and finally saw the film. 100% believe this is the best CLIFFHANGER ever. Where Empire Strikes Back just sorta lingered, The Two Towers left on a dark note, and Catching Fire/Mocking Jay lingered and ended on a dark note respectively, Across the Spider-verse did it right by leaving me excited without dragging out the film.
Just watched it too and wow what a ride. It is so emotional, for every age group, and the action and animation is really on another level. Go watch it in the cinema. ❤
And the sound design, omg 😊😊😊

This movie seems like it’s just amazing, and Spot seems absolutely busted LOL. The friend zone of Gwen, Miles and the others, is gonna be so good. I’m gonna watch this when it comes out for sure🔥🔥
There is a reason why spider-man is one of, if not _the most,_ beloved Marvel character, that at one point even stood amongst the most iconic comic book heroes like Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman, and I feel like this movie encapsulated everything that endears this character to our hearts.
Waited for both of ur reaction. And man now im even so hyped for this movie. Cant wait. So annoying that we have to wait for another long time to get the next part of the movie if it ends on a cliffhanger 😩.

This is one of those moments where the sequel actually tops the first one. This movie is amazing! I’m in a roller coaster of emotions watching this. I agree too on this is a more personal story for Miles and also Gwen, despite being a gigantic scale movie, fantastic story and development. The animation, ho ho boy, they level it up even more. Can’t wait to see it again 🔥 🔥

Just came from theatre and what an Experience! An Absolute MASTERPIECE!!!
All I could think of is: "So that's how people felt after watching Empire in 1980.......the measure of all sequels..." Can't wait until next year!

I to the Spider-verse is one of my favorite superhhero movies, and thats coming from someone who generally doesn’t give a rip about Miles Morales as a character. It's that good, and I'm really looking forward to the sequel.
You know when movie directors and animators, or just anyone in general works on a movie says"they hope you enjoy this experience". Well I feel like that's what this movie is, an experience. The emotion, the music, the animation, the story is all so pleasing to me that it feels larger than any regular movie tbh. The investment people have in this character and the emotions felt coming out of the theatre room is what makes this movie so great, and it is a great experience. 👏💐 Congrats to everyone who worked on the film and the soundtrack as well.

I think the first movie is a pretty different tone than this one, because I spent most of this film STRESSED for all the characters. The first one has way more comedy and levity.

just watched it, idk how they are able to make the second movie even as more amazing as the first but BRAVO. still really upset that they give us a cliff hanger but i understand. Overall a brilliant, amazing movie hands down, i honestly have no critiques at all it's just that perfect.

I am looking forward to this film! With Miguel, he is far into the future of the current Spider-Man line as in not part of MIles world, in Peter Parker's world future. With the Scarlet Spider, looking forward to seeing him, as if you look it up online, The Clone Saga...ran for years and almost ended the Spider Man series, I hope there is jokes with that!

I saw it earlier 9/10 just because of the ending! We all know it, ending's gonna be a cliffhanger it was so abrupt didn't notice it was already 2hrs. Animation frame by frame 11/10 definitely deserves an Oscar it was out of this world never seen anything like it in any Hollywood animated movies. Must watch!
Yeah Into the Spider-verse is one of my favorite movies (along with the Incredibles) so I had great expectations coming into ATSV. I could tell that they'd done it again by the end of the intro! Soooo good
The only thing I’ll say is that the entire theatre was pissed at where it ended 😂. We were all prepared to watch a 5 hour movie.

I'm not seeing it until Sunday, so that's 3.5 days away; my hype was already maxed out, and then you guys just constantly gushed about it, and basically said that all the things I was hoping for are, in fact, done, and *done better* than I hoped.... I'm not even exaggerating when I say that, while listening to your review, I started tearing up a little just from the pure inability to contain my excitement inside my body.

Watched it last night and i have to say, this might be the best Marvel movie ever. Love these movies so much. The writing is so freaking good and seeing the interactions between the kids and the parents is just so great. I cannot wait for the next movie!
