HELLO! So glad you loved our lil movie. I was one of the animators on this film. And we all couldn't be happier that this film is considered one of the very best of it's kind. We're all very proud that it's loved by so many. In answer to your question about a second movie. No. It was never intended to have a sequel. Brad (the director) told us when we were starting that it was a "one and done" sort of thing. No endless sequels. And really....that's one of the things that makes it so very unique and special.. Thank you again. And I wish you all the very best. :)
Appreciate the kind words, thank you! Yourself and the team did such an amazing job on this! And on reflection I have to agree, one and done is perfect. Although a reunion with the giant and Hogarth would have been AMAZING lol. Thanks for checking out our reaction, it means a lot❤️
@@JuliesWorldCrochet Hello! Thank you so much for that. Yes it was truly a labor of love for us. We were 'crunching' from the moment we started. We had to. In order for us to even do the movie, Brad Bird (the director) told the execs that if "they leave him alone to do the movie HE wants to make...he'd do it for half the budget, half the crew, half the production cost, half the time..." So yeah. We had a mountain to move. But, when you believe in the project and the crew....you can do the impossible. I think we did a pretty good job. All things considered. LoL. Thanks again and take care!! :)
The robot was designed to be a weapon. Given that flashback The Giant has probably destroyed plenty of planets along with his kind. That’s why the scene about him choosing to be something better is great.
21:20 No, HE was the robot in the puddle's reflection. HE'S the planet destroyer. And if it wasn't for that dent in his head (which made him forget his programing) , he would've destroyed the earth just like the rest of the planets in his dream/flashback. That's why the movie pushed SO HARD for him to be innocent and good because he was LITERALLY built for evil and destruction .
This movie always makes me tear up. It teaches a lot about heroism, self-sacrifice and friendship. I'm still mad about it being a box office flop 🙃. Unfortunately a second Iron Giant was never made (Though he makes a cameo in Ready Player One). If you guys are looking for a thematically similar vein of films that do have sequels, I def recommend the HTTYD trilogy. The best animated trilogy of all time imo
Sad fact: the creator of the movie had a sister that he lost to gun violence from her ex-husband and the message of the movie is "If a gun had a soul, would it want to kill?"
I always get teary eyed with this movie. Another ‘under the radar’ movie is ‘The Last Unicorn’! Not enough people know of it. It is a beautiful animated and rather mature movie that has a theme of mortality!
10:32 that’s Frank Thomas - LEGENDARY Disney animator. He designed many Disney characters including Captain Hook. In fact, he and his friend/colleague Ollie Johnston animated more than half of the movie The Jungle Book BY THEMSELVES!
@@Reactsandgames it was a cameo at the request of director Brad Bird. Ollie Johnston appeared in the Iron Giant immediately before Frank Thomas as well. Ollie is the one who said “go on, tell him what you saw Frank”. And they both made a cameo in the Pixar film The Incredibles, which was also directed by Brad Bird. They appeared when Syndrome was defeated in front of the city and they talked about how it was “old school” and how there was “no school like old school”. Ollie Johnston was also a very gifted animator for Disney, he designed the 3 good fairies from Sleeping Beauty, Mr. Smee from Peter Pan, Lady from Lady & the Tramp, and many others!
It actually flopped on release. Thankfully people found and embraced it on home video and it's built a following over the years. The gears of justice grind slowly! ^_^
Hello, again, R&G. Just a little tidbit of information for you. The town Rockwell is named for the famous artist Norman Rockwell, whose work depicted a more innocent time in American history. Which also serves as the backdrop of this movie as he lived in New England.

I think movies like The Iron Giant & Treasure Planet were underappreciated by the audience when they first came out. I am glad to see that both of them have developed a fan following over the years and I'm really happy that they did not make sequels because some movies deserve to be standalone the ending that both of them have need to be the ending of the series they don't need sequels to be great
I am 3 months late, but this has always been my favorite non-Pixar animated film. The director is Brad Bird and this film didn't do great in the box office, but gained a lot of popularity later. What's crazy is that the same director did my favorite Pixar animated film called Ratatouille. Then he also did The Incredibles 1,2 and 3 is in the works. If you want another really good alien film, I can not recommend enough Lilo & Stitch. It's an alien-type animated film with a lot of heart.
@@ReactsandgamesIt's another animated movie done by Don Bluth with animals. I forgot what the acronym actually stands for, but it's explained in the film. It's a really good movie with more dark themes to it, highly recommend :3

Hello, R&G. This movie is an animated classic. Brad Bird produced this modern gem during the height of Disney's Renaissance of movies like, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Pocohantas, The Lion King, Alladin, Hercules, and Tarzan, to name their string of hits. Which made The Iron Giant a kind of novelty. Bird would later produce The Incredibles, which went on to win the Academy Award for best animation. I saw in the comments that another favorite movie of mine was mentioned. Do react to THE SECRET OF N.I.M.H. if you like a little darker story with a well-drawn story and characters.
