This video made me realize why I'm into jazz and want to learn the theory :) Sometimes I feel like quitting when seeing "certain" people whose level I'll never reach, but just sounding as good as this is already enough for me
I never realize i was into jazz too, but man since i was a kid i was exposed to jazz thanks to the freaking snes, so many jazzy tunes in videogames and never realized this
Ive been thinking for a minute. It's pure, beautiful sadness. Not depression, and that's in the context. That the piece and life are beautiful and through sadness there is beauty. No high highs without low lows. That chord made me grateful to know sadness. Just.. wild.
@@danielsalgado1885 I guess I wouldn't call it sadness. More like the peace you feel when you're finally letting go of something. I'd imagine that's what I'll feel when I'm stepping onto the clouds of heaven's gate, knowing that my mission on Earth is completed.
F Major is just one of these beautiful keys... a little like Db Major! (To me anyway). Curious how even with the equal temperament, different keys seem to have a different impact.
@@mathiaslevyvalensi-compose5014 yeah! Db major sounds dream-like to me (and in general when a lot of flats are involved). Even though I was taught back in the day to recognize major and minor tonalities by telling whether they sounded happy or sad respectively, F major is a great exception to me
@@ManuTears98 I feel as though the whole "happy and sad" thing is a little oversimplified past a certain stage... I think it's important to keep in mind that an equal temperament doesn't and can't really exist which leads to differences in the keys, still today. It's really important to keep that in mind, study and experiment with it when we come to writing music, to have the most organic feeling possible!
Beautiful, theres a strange balance to seeing our pimped out guy, with the drip and the PHATTEST rang on his finger, play such elegant and beautiful music.
**Amazing grace, how sweet the sound** That saved a wretch like me. Imagine a world without secondary dominants and false cadences
Okay, do the negative Harmony of jazz
Ooh not worth living in that world
jazzn’t
Hmm
I don’t like it
😲
from the moment i saw the grace note i knew this was going in a jazzy direction… and i love it
Ha, I knew it even earlier than that. Before I even clicked the video, actually. Because it's in the title
Yeah they were amazing grace notes
@@RuptimusPrime 🤣🤣 well yes bahaha

Not the title huh?
It just feels like someone put felt in my ears and said: "everything's okay"
Feels like a warm hug and an anthropomorphic white beagle is running to me with a baseball mitt to get me to play.

God’s open arms through his son Jesus, who died on the cross. It’s gonna be all right 😊! Praise God!
I know George it's beautiful you don't have to be embarrassed about crying 2:17
This may be the first recorded case of death by dehydration from crying
I felt the "I'm not crying, you're crying" so much, this is just so incredibly beautiful
This video made me realize why I'm into jazz and want to learn the theory :)

i was in a noisy room so i couldnt hear much thanks for adding subtitles its very helpful
Ahahaha
I have no idea what is greater... his playing or THE DRIP
Bro the drip is glorious but the playing made me cry
Ok sorry to ruin it but what the heck is a drip
@@gandalfthegrey2171 outfit
definitely the playing.
This is really just what we like to call “gospel”
2:34 this was absolutely beautiful, it felt so good
This felt like playing for a church mass but you get too carried away midway and forget where you were playing
2:18 yes, I'm definitely crying. this voicing struck me to my core
I'm not crying, we're all crying
Davell Crawford! The Piano Prince of New Orleans. That man can play, play.
2:17 made me feel an emotion I haven't felt in a while

I swear there's something with F major that always moves me... 🥲

Reminds me of Horowitz’s Träumerei

That 0:59 may be the most beautiful chord I have ever heard.
Beautiful, tasteful, respectful. My priest would approve.
The best rendition of this song I have ever heard. Beautiful.
unbelievably beautiful, thanks for the transcription
2:19 that E. That damn E...
Why does this guy look like the black version of Elton John??
It’s the outfit
And the gospel chords.
dude i thought the same thing
he's John Elton
Even the lines that the notes make in the score are beautiful.
Beautiful! Thanks for putting up the sheet music, I'm going to attempt it
Have you learnt it yet?
I really love these amazing grace notes!
Amazing Grace Notes. (:
Underrated comment.
Well played
Lets hope the priest likes Gsus and not Am
Edit: terrible joke, I know, but hey! I got a lot of likes tho
Gets pretty close to a minor but changes his mind and goes for a diminished.
Holy shit this is too dark💀
@@nadylouis4936 oh shoot i thought Amin was supposed to be “amen” but maaybe not
oh dang
What is Amin
the passage at 1:23 made my heart break, so freaking amazing
Beautiful, so sweet. If I could just have Davell Crawford play at my funeral, I’d come back to listen.
this reminds me of every hotel i've ever been to (the ones that were at least nice, which were most of them) and the nice calm lakeside of Duluth
Those A's starting @ measure 59 really came thru in those chords. Beautiful arrangement and performance! 💯🔥
This one is called “Amazing Grace-Notes” For those of you who don’t know.
Lovely backdoor cadence to finish it off.
Magnifique performance! Still, this looks like a concert and he doesn't look like a priest
It was a joke.
Priest because its amazing grace
@@RachieSama didn't see how would that be funny though

How sweet the sound indeed.

:D
DAVELL CRAWFORD!! Used to play him all the time back when I did college radio
still waiting for the jazz
Impressive! Thank you! I closed my eyes, did not see the glitter any more, and aah... Enjoyed!
It started very simple and gradually became advanced
I know it’s not even the most impressive part but the Bb over Dm just smacks me in the gut everytime I listen.
0:36
yeah ur right i am crying
I can watch your videos for the entire day
call that amazing grace note
lets also take a moment to appreciate how dripped out this guy is

I didn't know Tony Williams was still around and that he does piano transciptions.. 🥁
Wow the middle ground of cadences
Spectacular ending

Got goosebumps
Jokes aside, that piece is damn beautiful.
People always underestimate Christian music at least one using it as a base to go off of. But it's actually really beautifully composed almost always.
Was really hoping and expecting more. 🤷
Amen to that.
I just come back for the titles
I could use this to get to sleep.

New Orleans pianists are where it’s at if you like transcribing grace notes. Try some James Booker like his Tico Tico
This style was played in my Southern Baptist church almost every Sunday morning. Beautiful but I was listening for something different. 🤷🏾♀️
