MSFS 2020 | Aerosoft CRJ Throttle and REVERSE THRUST Set-Up Tutorial! [Full Demonstration]

- A few, including myself were asking "how do you set up Reverse Thrust with the Aerosoft CRJ ?" and the keybinds and settings I already had weren't working for it.
So, not one to be defeated, I've found a nice easy way of setting keybinds for when you are using the Aerosoft CRJ aircraft!
In this very short video, I'll take you through calibrating and setting up the throttle using the EFB (an absolute must when first using the CRJ!) and I'll show you a great, simple way of setting up Reverse Thrust, without affecting the throttle settings whatsoever!
I hope you enjoy the video - remember to click Like and Subscribe too, and let me know what you think in the comments below.

Had to do some finessing with the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog setup. Wasn't exactly the same but I finally got through it thanks to your video. Big help!
Awesome! I'm glad it helped!
Works like a charm, thank you!
Thank you for sharing. This is fantastic.
Short and to the point. Perfect tutorial!
Thanks!
Perfect video, sorted my X56 out a treat and it’s been driving me nuts. Thank you so much. 👍🏻
Great to hear!! Enjoy the CRJ - it's fantastic! Hopefully you saw some of my stream today - we went into small islands and did ILS, VOR, NDB and visual approaches in it! Was great!
How did you set it up? I have a X56 and it activates the TR levers but not the actual TRs
Great video as always sir. Thank you for your time.
Thanks, I hope you found it useful!
Subscribed because you were right on top of this issue. Thanks 👍
Thank you! I had the issue on the first day of release and I know lots more had the problem so I went searching! 👍 Glad you've found it helpful!
Awesome video. Thanks for the help!!!
No problem at all! Feel free to share the link anywhere and everywhere 😉 I spent hours working it out! Glad it's helpful for you
Thanks for the vid. I don't know why but I have watched your vid and others but I came back to you again and now I can finally fly the CRJ! Thanks a bunch. I really enjoy your vids.
Great to hear! Hopefully the main Episode 1 - 2 & 3 tutorials for the CRJ did the trick from me!
As usual , useful ! thks friend !
Always welcome! Was a question I had all day so I went digging around to look for the answers all day! Share it far and wide! 🚀

Thanks!!!
No problem! Enjoy it ✈️ I certainly am!
Thx !
You're welcome!
Great video! Excited to use my Airbus throttle for this! Also at 2:24. Is it me or is the gate fallen over onto the ground in front of the aircraft 🤣🤣
It's intended to be there - it's a decomissioned gate which is there in real life 😎 Macco Simulations with the next level detail!
@@BritishAvgeek wow! I salute thee for their detail! Impressive!
@@MrMrduke1975 they aim to get it as accurate to real life as possible - even with the weathering on the plating around the building. Really good! Highly recommend it
@@BritishAvgeek Off topic, the other day I was flying the A32NX at CDG Paris. Parked at the gate and connected to jetway; however, I requested baggage service, catering and power, and was told by ground that none of those are available! Real life simulation of ground crew and baggage handlers going on strike!!??? lol
@@SVnerd yep some stands don't have any services configured (default Jersey for example has none either) - but if you use the EFB to request ground services it should force them to spawn. If they don't, that part of the airport has no services configured
I've been trying to figure out how to do it for three days!
And now you've got it sorted! 👍😎
Hi, thanks for the tutorial! Just to clear things up: there's no way to modulate reverse thrust? It's either full reverse or idle?
Currently no unless you can set a reverse axis but I haven't tried - this setup works for me currently but it's either all or nothing 🙂
@@BritishAvgeek Thank you! All right, nice to have the reverse operating, anyway. I certainly didn't have in my first flight, yesterday, and landing was intense...
Thanks, nice video. I hadn't seen the Duplicate button in Preset Manager, that's really useful. We just need them to add automatic association of aircraft with profiles now :) (I tried it with FSUIPC but it doesn't work that well with the CRJ throttles).
Yep that would be handy! I'll no doubt forget to switch between the two profiles at some point!
For some reason when I try to set the detents it acts as if it were reversed meaning that when I select full power the calibration screen in the CRJ is negative and think that full power is reverse thrust and that if I do reverse thrust that the CRJ think it is going full power do you know how to fix it because it’s very frustrating I would really appreciate if you have a solution
hey dude ! which sensitive options you are using?
This also works for the new ATR42 and ATR72.
I noticed that you only went to Throttle 1 Axis only for the set up, do you not have to bind Throttle 2 Axis also? Do you also have to calibrate this new setting?
It's purely dependant on whether you have one or two axis and so on :)
the raw input data isnt recognizing my throttle at all what should i do
Seem to be having issues with this as the setup now seems to go into reverse thrust in increments so need to press it 5 times. Not sure why as it worked seemlessly first time I set it up but just returned to crj and can’t get it working properly. Any suggestions?
Try setting a keybind to Decrease throttle instead and recalibrate
@@BritishAvgeek thank you will give it a go
Why does the flap axis on honeycomb not work with the crj and are the working on a update
It doesn't currently have the ability to work with flap axis due to an issue in the SDK apparently so you need to set a Flaps Increase button and Flaps decrease button and you'll be fine... They are aware though and are working with Asobo to fix it in the future
how do i fix my crj steering? ive tried everything but i cant turn it how i want to. i just have to use the axis mode where it locks your rudder until you manually change it back.
Have you turned the Nose wheel steering on?
@@BritishAvgeek i have, and I’ve also reinstalled the aircraft and deleted the files with m as the starting letter (according to Aerosoft that’s how you reset the aircraft)
@@serbwarcriminal first I've heard of the issue myself so I'm really not sure what to suggest to help, sorry! I hope you find the solution!
Hey by any chance are your switches getting stuck in the new crj?
Same here mate...and I also can't steer it with controller like other airliners in this game
@@cassianfrank1660 I think you need to turn on Nose wheel steering on, it's to the left of the cockpit near the electronic flight bag.
@@eggs1632 I turned it on every time, but there is no difference😢
Hi! I haven't had this issue yet myself I have to say! The problems I've had, have been me making mistakes and clicking or doing something wrong. I'll be live later with it again so I'll see if I get any issues 👍
Do you have anything like that PMP CRJ installed from ages ago? Might be worth checking and making sure that's deleted
Hello, Very interesting video @british Avgeek (as usual with you). I have the same Hotas System as you and I have difficulty to find a correct configuration. Is it possible please to share all your configs (not only the throtlle) ? Thanks in advance
Thanks! What configuration are you struggling with?
@@BritishAvgeek In fact, that's the globality. I have the thurstmaster Hotas but I'm not convinced to used the different buttons the best way. I know how to adress each button a function but I don't find my uses very efficient...
@@YvesLAMBERT ah yes the keybinds are all personal opinion and feel - set them to the best you can based on how you use them :)
@@BritishAvgeek And an other question: in this configuration how do you stop the engines as you put the idle mode to -16384 then you can't go lower to stop the engine. Correct or I'm wrong ?
Not a good day today. First the scratchpad unable to delete content issue, now my Thrustmaster TCA won’t react at all with CRJ. I’m using 2 axis, will compare to your settings. Even if you’re using a different controller 🕹 might get some ideas.
Check this - it's for the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight but I found it easy to calibrate with that (I assume the Thrustmaster TCA works similar?) ruclips.net/video/5o1GC12Hrk4/видео.html
@@BritishAvgeek Thank you my British Aviation friend. It took me all day, but finally throttles are working correctly, reverse thrust included ! I had so many technical issues, it’s not even funny. I’ll laugh tomorrow. Actually I’m quite happy, about to do ESSA-EFHK (where I was born) My issue still how to clear scratchpad info, hope you can help :) Cheers, and thanks for all your help !
I really wanna try this plane. But is it Worth it? Is it easy 2 learn?
Hi! Check out my tutorials playlist especially the three new tutorials I've uploaded covering a simple first flight too... It's imo the best aircraft in MSFS by far at the moment - just remember there is no autothrottle! But if you watch my 3 episodes you'll crack it easy!
My sitek pro flight throttles for some reason only go from full to zero even if i set it in between.
🤔 hmm I'm not sure what to suggest in this instance except to try and make sure the calibration is done carefully
Any way to share your settings? I am just about to buy a HOTAS X!
are you in our discord server? if so remind me in a few days when I'm off work early and I'll try get a screen grab!
@@BritishAvgeek mate, the discord link on your about page says expired?

IMPORTANT! make sure your reverse thrusters are "Armed" was fiddling with this last night (new to the jet) couldn't figure out why the throttle was being flipped but the "RpM" would not rise. Turns out I never "Armed" the reverse thrusters. This can be found outboard of the throttle and to the right of the pilots right knee on the center console. hope this helps
Ah yes that's covered in my 3 part CRJ Tutorials :)
hi i tried your setup , the reverse thrust levers go up , but the reverse thrust is not engagged
Yeah you must make sure the Reverse thrust switches are armed on the aircraft or they don't deploy. (2 switches to the left of the throttle)
Do u know wht does CLB/CRZ gap mean? Thanks, awesome!
In which bit? PFD or CDU?
The bit I don’t understand is why the hell does reverse thrust work with the toggle reverse command in all other aircraft but in CRJ it’s mapped to decrease throttle??? Also decrease throttle is not an axis so you can’t modulate the power of the reversers unlike the toggle reverse thrust option.
@@sidplays77 no idea 😂
@@BritishAvgeek EFB throttle settings!
@@FillipePontes oh! Apologies. It's a measure I *think* of the distance between each gate - I left it as the default settings and just Set the limits 👍
Think i found a slightly better fix for this, you just double bind reverse thrust AND decrease thrust to the same button on the same profile, then all aircraft (so far) seems to work (crj has to be at full idle before they will kick in) .. hope this helps someone ;)
Nice second method! I did think of double binding but I was worried it would cause other issues so it's great to know that works! Great find!
Couple things like this are pretty annoying tbh. Shouldnt need seperate profile for 1 plane! Same as having to adjust alt etc with the scroll wheel, like theres little to no, RH clickable area on all the knobs an it shoots off at diff speeds, when your completing procedures an taking 5 minutes to adjust FL it can disrupt ur flow pretty significantly!!. Cheers for vid though my man !!... I'll stop whinging now 🤣👌
😂 well I don't mind the profile too much - it's just easier than setting different keybinds that'll affect the A320neo each time I fly. It's a lot of extra work for sure but I really enjoy it
@@BritishAvgeek yeh i still love it, but hopefully it gets patched out...
@@brandonchappell1535 let's hope. Ive heard from the forums that Asobo is working to fix some of the bigger bugs affecting the aircraft so that sounds positive!
Oh i didnt coment on this yesterday lol
Boo!
can crj700 fly by xbox controller?
To be honest, I'm really not sure! I think you'd struggle with it being so hands on
@@BritishAvgeek thanks so much
@@soap1230 no problem, if you do try let me know how it goes!
@@BritishAvgeek of course
That's full reverse tho, I wanna control my reverse thrust power, by just setting a toggle
I can’t do it with honeycomb
Which bit? You just want to look for specific buttons that'll work so might be different with your setup but the general method should be the same
So, it's using legacy FSX / P3D reverse throttle logic? i.e. full reverse only by button press? Damn....that's the only disappointing thing about this so far....I rarely use full reverse.
Well if you click it just for a short while it will deploy a small amount. If I press and hold it, it'll deploy full
Thank you
You're welcome 🙂
