I'm debating ordering a new Porsche 911 Carrera, or having a new C2 Corvette built from reproduction parts (instead of buying a frame-off), they'd both cost about the same, registering a classic car replica in California could be too much of a pain though

are new reproduction chassis that much more expensive than all of the work and time you put in to recondition the original factory chassis?

I agree with you 100% on undercoating on the frame. I will use it to protect the inside of the wheel wells to protect the fiberglass from stones but that's it. As far as the frame as a customer I would hope for someone with your vision. Good job as usual. Hey that Black Camaro looks interesting, what about that. I've found that alot of the mid-year corvette guys also have a fondness for 1st generation Camaros. Take care.

Thanks for posting another good video of what your up to. In the beginning you showed the Nassau blue 66 convt. You said it has new bumpers, I take it they are repros so I have a question > Are repop bumpers thinner and lighter than originals?
    Thanks JR. 👍
    Ok forget it. 😅

Your awesome, love the content…keep it up. Would like to hear a little bit about the sale of the business & why. Hopefully it was only because Sr. just wanted his toes in the sand.
I have a 1970 LT1 convertible C3. Would love to turn it over to you for the full Junior/Sean overhaul. Plan on visiting your shop/showroom next time I’m in Fla.

Use a borescope to inspect the inside of the frame. Just a suggestion for the future.

Hey Jr. Good to see you up to your ears in work! That entrapment due to undercoat was interesting. Bet the customer was just as surprised when they got the call. No easy way around that other than like you said time and cost. Wins the day all around for both parties. That area either wasn't dry when sprayed, or it was in some water at some point. You do this stuff for a living so do you see this kind of thing a lot? One of those unknows that happen to us all at some point. Not being naive but at some point, it's done to hide rust, or was just poorly done years ago.
Glad you found it and hope you find a frame that's not as iffy. Thanks for sharing!

I think since you know the usually places where these frames are prone to rust out perhaps using a scratch Awl and pushing it will show you where the rot is. Ya know like the way they check wood for Termite damage. The surface looks good but under the paper thin outer coat is nothing. Of course this won't tell you the entire story but I do not know what your process entails during an initial inspection. Perhaps a video of this would really be cool. What do you think?

Can you cut the frame rails in half. Down the welding strips. Peel it open. Show the rust inside the rails. That will make a good video. Thank you.

People spray that goop on stuff to hide problems they don't want you to see. And it's cheap. If I had that frame I would have it ready striped to stop the rust.than cosmalean the inside of the frame after the powder coat.

People still use this junk rubberized undercoating. Eric O on South Main Auto did a video on a truck in upstate New York with this garbage and it had frame holes all over the place. In the northeast, where we have snow and worse, salt, not only moisture gets under this undercoating but also salt water. One little pinhole and it's going to get in and eat away. Do nothing, a truck can last 20 years before getting serious rust. Undercoated, 5 years. Use something that won't seal from motor oil to Fluid Film, redoing it yearly and the thing can last forever.
