Weekend warriors Is criminally underrated it’s my personal favorite album
This was built to make you dance legitimately changed me. Weekend warriors rocks too.
almost 20 years later, and this is still one of my favorite bands of all time.
This guy wrote some of the deepest verses that i heard in music, i love him for this and im sorry for his pain.
I was around 15-16 when I saw secret lives open for Bedlight for blue eyes in New Orleans. I’m 31 now, and I always go back and revisit these records I loved in my youth. Awesome to see that Cliff is doing well
One of the most underrated bands ever
that album still gets put on replay to this day
I don't normally comment on anything but I would like to say i am 37 years old and i remember when this album released. It was one of my favorite record's ever growing up.
41 here and same!
Their album This Was Built to Make You Dance is in my top 10 post-hardcore releases ever. Super special band for me.
Facts. I’m listening to it right now, and wanted to look into maybe a 20 year anniversary tour. I would love that so much.
"This Was Built to Make You Dance" is one of the best records in the genre ever. Had lots of fun (and drunken) nights out with friends watching Secret Lives in Asheville all those years ago...good times! Sucks that Cliff Brien was going through personal struggles back then but thank him and the band greatly for making those years more enjoyable for a lot of us.
This was built to make you dance remains one of my all time favorite albums to this day
Secret lives were one of the local success bands in my hometown. Being a part of the local music scene and getting to see these guys play a lot back then was awesome. Super grateful they were from the scene back home.
Yeah dude those were great times. I remember seeing "Cliffs" band before Secret Lives with this dope jam band call Delicious at green eggs and jam back when they were still around. Brian's a good dude.
Those were the days. Seems like I wasn't one of their shows every weekend. Times were crazy.
I used to see these guys almost every weekend.
We partied so much to weekend warriors in 08 my senior year of high school. Great memories
I saw them in Wilmington NC around the time the first album. Saw them at the soap box. It's still one of my favorite shows. I come back to these 2 ablums when i refrence my kind of music.
Wish they would get back together and I wish he could shut out his past I loved that band and still jam to them.
Man would love a 20 year anniversary of this was built to make you dance so much.
I found them after they broke up and was devastated!! Would have loved to see them. But still enjoy every song. Unfortunately the best songs come from the deepest pain.
I saw Secet Lives! Of the Freemasons open up for Evergreen Terrace in 2007 at Luckys Pub in Wilmington, NC and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
I saw these guys several times. The best was the first show at the Soap Box. I miss that place. :(
Cliff and i stage crashed and sang along with the Campaign 1984 when they covered Misfits Where Eagles Dare a long along time ago in Asheville NC
I have a tele pickguard signed by all of them. BRIEN ❤'S YOU is what he wrote on it!
Loved Secret Lives Of The Freemasons!
One of the best bands of all time for a short short time. It sucks my man couldn't own up to the fact that he blew it all away with drugs and alcohol, acting like someone should have taken care of him and protected him from himself. Sucks to suck but I loved you once.
I mean, that’s harsh, but like it’s also true. He’s grown up. Give us what we want.
YOU FALL IN LOVE
YOU HARDLY EVER STAY IN LOVE
ITS SAFE TO SAY YOU..
HAVE GIVEN UP ON YOUR HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!
Totally crushed by this. Secret lives! was my jam…
It's sad to hear this was Brien's experience during his time with Secret Lives. I saw them twice at the Orangle Peel and Brien even bought me a shot at the hookah bar. It sounds like you're doing well now. Stay strong brother!
Upload albums Spotify 😮💨
I love SLFM and have desperately tried to get a full official version of the first album. Also, glad to see cliff doing great! I saw them in South Charleston, WV and even got a picture with Cliff!
It's FINALLY on Spotify! A friend texted me today and I almost didn't believe him.
@@themikehole broooo thanks for the information! Listening now actually.
Great hearing from Cliff. Charlotte native here and lost count of how many times we went to Asheville to see them or Amos in Charlotte. Would love to hear TWBTMYD on Spotify again, but after hearing his explanation I can understand why it might not be. Or maybe it's to do with Victory, who knows.
They just added it a few months ago! Discovered it the other day.
I'm sad I never got to hear this band in their heyday, I was too busy being a poser.
Brother, do a hometown secret lives reunion and trust I am traveling from Cleveland, OH to attend it. Just DO IT. I WANT TO SEE IT. Dont be proud of who you were then, just be proud of the records you helped create. I know damn right it will be a big success. Negatives aside lets just get together and respect the one tjint we all loved and that was those incredible records you produced ❤
I’d come from New York
Damn this kinda sucks to hear. I loved that first album, the second one too. Saw them way back in the day in Raleigh with He is Legend and Classic Case. I actually had them on my wishlist for next years Furnace Fest for a hopeful reunion show, after hearing this interview chances are probably pretty slim on that one.
Saw Secret Lives and Classic Case, in Raleigh, at the Brewery. I really miss that era for local music. I am very fortunate to have been there at that time. I still listen to SLFM often, it takes me back to the good days.
I forgot to mention that I also saw He is Legend at the brewery. I really miss that place. It was a small venue but it was always fun.
Brian, my dear fran!!!
Sucks to hear about his relationship with the first record. Wonder if that plays a part in why it’s not on Apple Music but WW is
Van a regresar a tocar???
No.
I want to buy their CD's, but they're extremely expensive IF you can find them online.
Same here man, I used to have both full lengths but I have no clue what happened to them
Totally crushed by this. Secret lives! was my jam…
Yeah this sucked to hear. I was just listening to to this was built to make you dance, and this killed the mood lol
