Good advice for avoiding cuts: do not apply pressure which requires you to press into the sheet and instead do multiple light passes. This also makes for a clean cut. Snip off the blade after about 10 to 15 cuts so it's always sharp and does not require pressure for cuts. Have a maximum of two blade scores out at any time. Advice from an older architect. Good luck on your journey 👍🏼

As someone who self harmed myself; Trigger Warnings aren't doing us a favour. We are not in the psych ward, living in a safe buble where a trigger warning is needed. We are in the real world. There are things we can not control. My mom isn't giving me a trigger warning either when she uses a knife cutting bread. My classmate who has a knife with him for cutting fruit isn't giving me a trigger warning either. When I go shopping and there are people cutting meat, cake whatever there is no warning about that. I know people give these warning to be kind. But actually it's doing nothing. We can not control our environment and if people can not function because of their triggers they need help and not a trigger warnings. Same goes for loud noises for people with ptsd. It's a kind intention but won't help because going through the city there still are loud noises etc. In my opinion this is misleading people to think the environment has to adjust around them. So they stay on the safe accounts online that give these warnings and start avoiding places where they will meet their triggers. It's keeping them from realising that they are in a situation where they need help because their triggers/mental illness/addiction etc. is keeping them from living how they want to
@Evelyns_Bored If you're really interested in having a discussion please start giving reasons for your opinion because otherwise I have to guess what you think/mean. Obviously giving a trigger warning has short time effects. People feel cared about so it will help them in that way. But again. Don't you think if someone gets so triggered over a blade that is used for architecture that they want to self harm, they need help? Giving them warning isn't solving the problem. If you can't even watch a RUclips video/are not able to just skip it if it's giving you discomfort than there is something wrong. Cuddling them isn't helping them. On top of that where do we start and were do we end? I kind of get that there is a trigger warning in a documentary about eating disorders, self harm or whatever. You can give a trigger warning in a video with a blade for architecture. But what's next? Do the people doing nail videos have to give a trigger warning? I mean the scissors for nails can be used to harm yourself to. Or what about people doing art videos. When they sharpen their pens does it need a trigger warning? I mean you could just remove the blade for self harming. Do we need a trigger warning for people cutting bread? Do we need a trigger warning before entering a super market? I mean there might be blood when you buy meat. Could be triggering, right?
Sometimes it can help, because some people may have tramua reacts or other experiences with blades, knifes ext. It may not help you, and it doesn't help me, but ofc there are others it can help who are sensitive.
trigger warnings are not doing *you* a favor, no. don’t generalize everyone who has self harmed because you want to rant about the hypotheticals of other people’s issues. it’s realistically not harming anyone by making them think they should be accommodated for. that is a massive reach
@buckethead2510 People who self harm obviously aren't all the same. That goes for every group. For trans people, for gays, for poc .... and obviously we all have different ideas and opinions. So you are stating the obvious while at the same time you are saying everyone else of the group is agreeing with you that it's not hurting anyone? Doesn't make sense because you are doing exactly what you told me not to do. Instead it would make more sense to get to my points; if you think the majority of people who self harm are benefitting from trigger warnings you should give reasons WHY you think that. Tell me why and tell me when to stop/start trigger warnings. Why does a video like this needs a trigger warning and why is there no trigger warning when entering a butcher or when going into the nail saloon.
