Crazy how like half of the twinblades in this game are faith based That said i find faith the most fun by far in this game so im eating good, especially with euporia getting insanely buffed
@dshearwf you've got a point but thats probably why duospears are more commonly seen and are far more reliable for a similar fighting style historically. Twinblades just look cooler to the average person so you see them more often in games because practicality doesn't matter in a game.
Hello! Thank you for your awesome based videos. I'm currently playing through DLC with your recent storm samurai build and it's really a blast. Though for the change of the playstyle, I would really be happy to see your solid approach to “How to build milady”, especially with the wing stance, but if you think there's a proper weapon skill for milady, it's even more interesting.
If you don’t want status infusions and willing to go 13 faith, heavy black steel or keen black steel with the new drawstring golden grease is really strong and will beat out heavy gargoyle twin blades and a keen godskin peeler in PvP damage. Same can be said for the black steel and other fire knight weapons where going a physical infusion with a drawstring grease is superior in PvP damage.
To sum up, my beloved twinned knight twinblade is the best overall, because that range makes a huge difference compared to that few more damage points of the gargoyles. It also looks stylish.
I really appreciate you showing which weapons have the best range for their class, though I do have a question, for when you get around to doing curved swords again. Many people state that the Shamsir has the best range out of the curved swords, due to it's step-in. My quesiton is, by exactly *how much* is the range improved? Most range comparisons appear to have the attacker rooted in place, which places the Shamsir at the middle of the pack. If these step-ins matter so much when measuring determining max range, disabling them in range comparisons seems a tad disingenuous.
I ran the Black Steel Twinblade as a secondary weapon to my Fire Knight sword Faith Build through the DLC. The weapon was great when, specially whith Saced Blade and shined through those annoying catacombs.
You can get much higher AR with blacksteel on str/fth build. I run 40 str 58 fth with godslayer seal and use order's blade on heavy blacksteel twinblade
My first run at the DLC was powerstancing twinblades (Gargoyle/Knights - Blood). Amazing damage from a Str/Arc build, plus you can swap to Occult Giant Crusher or Maria's when you want to change it up.
At the end with the Blacksteel Twinblade you missed that something like 50/50 Str/Fai Heavy-infused with Order's Blade is better than either of the options you mentioned. In fact, I think also even something like 75 Str Heavy-infused with Golden Grease beats it.
When I do this I: #1 don't include consumables. Or else you can say heavy/keen can all do status greases and not need arcane. This is more of a "duh" benefit of going physical infusion. I am mentioning order's blade on the side only because it happens to fit with the twinblade in the comparison I'm going to explain in #2. #2 was trying to compare it to sacred infusion specifically for a faith build. 50 Str 50 Faith can be good for a very specific hybrid build, but it does not make a lot of sense for the comparison or even general builds. First, 50/50 stat distribution leans towards using clawmark seal for using their incantation, but clawmark's str scaling does not scale faith buff. This means that you're looking at Dryleaf Seal at 50 faith with its 259 incantation scaling which is trash for a level 150 build compared to the 353 incantation scaling of erdtree which has 36.3% more spellbuff for everything else. For basically giving up offensive incantations, you have 769 instead of 729 damage (5.5% more attack). While this is still a worth it trade off if you're not casting offensive incantations to begin with (and even better if you only 2h the whole way), it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to compare it to sacred infusion, right? You usually go sacred weapon because you're a pure faith build, and I'm comparing if you should even bother with order's blade and not how to maximize the AR on black steel twinblade only. Kinda get what I mean?
@@Chrightt I get your points, but I don't understand why you think 50/50 hybrid builds (be it str/fai, dex/fai, dex/int, whatever) are some kind of anomaly, since they are optimal for plenty of weapons and setups, and have been since the Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 days. And even if you don't generally want to make that comparison, weapons like the Blacksteel Twinblade are the rare exception where they have innate elemental damage yet can still be buffed & infused, so I think you should consider it. 50/50 Str/Fai Heavy-infused with Dryleaf Seal Order's Blade is simply the best option when you're optimizing that weapon. Also more in general there's plenty of weapons for which you want to run these hybrid builds, they are not ''very specific'' at all. For Str/Fai specifically weapons like the Shadow Sunflower Blossom, Anvil Hammer, Devonia Hammer, Swords of Light/Darkness, Deathknight Longhaft Axe, Greatsword of Damnation, Blacksteel Greathammer, Horned Warrior Greatsword come to mind, and that's just DLC weapons only. These split builds optimize both the damage of the weapons in question, allow you to use a ton of spells (utility & harrassment, don't have to go for just dmg), and the 50 Fai (or Int/Arc) generally optimizes the damage on a ton of the elemental-scaling Weapon Arts too (for example all of them that have a Physical Hit-portion and an elemental Bullet-portion). In short my tip is to consider these hybrid builds more in your videos, they are more often optimal than you think. Especially in special cases like the Blacksteel Twinblade. 18/15/80 (Str/Dex/Fai) Sacred = 690 AR 18/15/80 Heavy + Sacred Blade = 770 AR 50/15/50 Heavy + Sacred Blade = 830 AR That difference is big enough that it should be mentioned imo. And if you're already a pure Faith build (because of the spells you want to use) and you're looking for weapons to accompany it, the Euporia is also already right there. That weapon actually is a pure Faith weapon, unlike the Blacksteel Twinblade.
I didn't say it is an anomaly though? The whole point is that it doesn't compare to sacred in the same stat distribution. I have already mentioned to be on the lookout for 2h vs 1h depending on your needs after the moveset section and given an example with Gargoyle's Twinblades too. Those weapons you mentioned are unique weapons, so I will always show the split distribution. For the infusable weapons, I am covering the infusions in a brief manner to show the basic comparisons. That said, I can definitely make additional notes on the blacksteel itself as an extra deep dive. However, my next video will feature the blacksteel twinblade itself as well, so I didn't go as in-depth here. It is definitely my oversight as I figured I would just cover it in the next one and not have repeated stuff.
Do you think there is any use for a heavy/fire twinblade with "two-handed sword talisman"? Most people say to powerstance for the jump attack or status buildup but I was wondering if the talisman and motion values make up for not having an extra weapon compared to the other builds. Compared to paired weapons which DON'T get the 1.5 str multiplier I think Twinblades still do which makes me think it could be nice for two handing due to having multi-hit attacks similar to paired weapons.
I like two-handing twinblades the most, but I still go for bleed over heavy/fire. Post-nerf the powerstance jump attack is still alright but not super strong. I think the 2-h moveset is more fun to play than continuously jumping for powerstance jump attack.
I just finished a ARC/DEX/FTH run through the DLC, mostly by 2-handing Eleonora's. I tried powerstancing, but even on bleed heavy builds like mine, it wasn't that much better than 2H, if at all. The 2H moveset of Twinblades is so good that powerstancing isn't as benefitial in my opinion. I think you'll find 2H very satisfying.
You forgot to mention that the unique running heavy of the black steel blade makes it so good at applying status effects that it'll bleed most things in 1 running heavy. In Pve, you can just spam that to apply bleed more effectively than regular twin blades. And berween the two black steel blade is better than godskin peeler at it.
The Running R2 is the same as Godskin Peeler and also shares the same 100% more status effect than regular running heavies (just like the heavy attack). It does not apply status faster than the Godskin and the running heavy does not apply status fast despite this bonus because running heavies just have long cancel frames. You can check my Euporia video (which is not about status effect) as the same logic applies to the 2h moveset.
These new DLC weapons does more damage than base one. So it's worth to invest in their min faith req to be able to equip the weapon?, like in this case the 13 faith for the black steel twinblade.
Endure works well if you're going for 2h moveset and just spamming attacks in their face. For powerstanced, it is good to get a buff-type ash on your off-hand and then whatever else you want on mainhand. If you do status infusions though, it won't scale bullet art damage well, so it will be better to run something like bloodhound step or quickstep. I will also have another build example video coming up next for what I think is a niche ash of war trick with twinblades.
The only weakness twinblades have is that it has no inherent HA. Getting an AoW with some could be helpful. You could also consider piercing fang or impaling thrust for some thrust attacks with good pressure game (though twinblades already have great pressure game). You could also lean into status build up, so the mists, or seppuku. If you are powerstancing its also a good idea to incoporate the backstep thrust attacks using quickstep. Twinblades are just so good that aow are merely complements.
In part it's sad BC that twin blade is so fcing sad that it needs it. But if it buffed it it would be the typical "it's mid but I guess the ash of war plays the game itself" Elden Ring weapon
Peeler and Blacksteel 2h running R2 is superior even in PvP, much better range and damage with instant activation of multihit talismans on phantom hits not to mention pierce damage if they try to contest with.a trade. .
It is superior only when your opponent is bad at PVP and does not dodge. The damage/poise damage/status damage are all backloaded, so you can easily dodge the final blow even if you react late. The regular twinblade's 2h running R2 is unreactable on the first hit and much more difficult to dodge the 2nd backloaded hit vs Godskin's as it comes out 9 frames faster. After poise damage buff many patches ago, twinblades actually saw some usage in the competitive PVP scene, and people specifically picked the normal twinblades because the normal 2h running R2 is the best move twinblades have. It allows twinblades to be aggressive at neutral while not getting punished (because peeler has 13 more frames before recovery).
@@Chrightt You could say that about anything, the regular RR2 has no range and only 2 hits so it's worse for multihit and status setups. Even if you miss the last big hit they're still getting hit by as much status as they would with the full RR2 of regular twinblades and decent damage of 120MV. The higher recovery is worth the insane damage and status buildup given that it instableeds with a single attack even without sepukku. You should give them a second look, the jumping attacks everyone spams with paired twinblades are much more telegraphed for PvP with this being able to be mixed up in a myriad of ways.
..? hold on a second "spinning slash, which is not even good on twinblades"? what about the fact spinning slash got banned in ladder on twinblades? didn't it have insane range and a pretty good frame itming?
That was a bit unclear. I should've said Spinning Slash sucked on Gargoyle (because of the range). Spinning slash's timing for straight swords and twinblades come out the same and has just always been a strong ash on its own because of the poise damage. I'm fairly sure the LB ban on twinblade back in the days was made with twinned knight in mind (which does indeed have a fat AoE for spinning slash for some odd reason).
Ok so i never question you since you go so in-depth with the math and stuff but one thing thats been bothering me is that when it comes to slightly more nuanced builds that arent just all in on only 1 offensive stat, this video doesnt apply to it &/or is inaccurate if you wanna go as harsh as to say that. For example. Im at RL 200 with 75 faith (& for different reasons)53 Strength(57 w/ item)16 Dexterity(25w/ items) and the black steel twin blade fails at sacred AND flame art infusions. The Euporia beats it in Sacred and blows it out of the water when charged(just melee) & Twinned knight "sword" beats its DPS in Flame Art. Its not even close
This is a general look at infusions especially targeted at the 125~150 audience. If you're RL 200, of course you have enough stats for 2 stats? duh? You might as well ask me why the stats aren't all at 99? It does not mean that builds cannot be hybrids. You just gotta figure that out yourself using the general rule because hybrid builds are specific builds that derail from the norm for specific reasons. This isn't a video covering every single possible build. Finally, the Euporia does not blow the sacred/flame art infusion of black steel twinblade because it can't infuse a freaking weapon art??????? What if I want a specific weapon art? Just because they both deal holy damage doesn't mean Euporia is definitely better for the same build.

you forgot drawstring poison grease bug in off hand twinblade :D
Disappointed we didnt get a strike damage "twinblade" bo staff in the dlc
I can already imagina a Dryleaf Staff with a bamboo texture and a simple new Twinblade exclusive Ash... damn, missed opportunity fr!
Ahhhh the Black Myth Wukong at home I needed.
No new Land of Reeds armor either.
I would have loved that so much
Omg I’m not the only one who’s wanted this? I’ve been wanting this since DkS2 😂
I'm about as excited for the Chrightt video as I am the surprise update that is likely to come out just after

It's fitting though, wielding something like a twinblade with any success in real life would require a lot of faith (or foolishness).
