- Like amaryllis, paperwhites are a popular way to bring some life and fresh blooms into the dark of winter. In this video, I'm sharing how I planted 'Ziva' paperwhites three ways, each with its different vessel and look/style about it. In about 4-6 weeks, we should have some lovely white narcissus blooms with a heady fragrance. Come see!

Hello Jenny, there is a method to put the bulb atop a jar using one with the mouth just smaller than a paperwhite bulb. Fill it with water to the root line and quite quickly the roots will be hanging freely in the water. My son got me one with a tulip (for Xmas one year) up until then I hadn't seen one being forced in this particular manner; it looked kind of cool and very original (he bought it at a Florist Shop.) Might be too similar to your first & second forcing method but at first sight it's different enough to invite one to take a second look at how the roots are forming so clearly & easily : D
Hi Katherine, yes, I have some of those vases and plan to use them for hyacinths in February! :-)
I will try this for a small winter interest project
Good luck!
Your sunroom is so lovely!!! Love the paperwhite arrangements! It’s been a joy to see all the ways you’ve used the foraged pieces from your sister-in-law’s property🎄
Thanks! And there's more to come, too!
Jenny they are gorgeous and go beautifully together, you can never go wrong with natural materials 💕 I love the smell of them too 💕
Are you growing any this year?
@@HarmonyHillsHomeandGarden I love to do it every year 💕
So beautiful. I love all the elements you used to plant these bulbs. Im so happy I can watch your videos every day. Thank you for having this wonderful channel.
You are so welcome, thanks for watching!
Very pretty. It gets very dreary in January, and white flowers perk things up. So charming.
That's the plan!
Your sunroom is to die for! Thanks for all of the instruction. I had no idea how simple it is!
So very simple! Give it a shot!
Thank you!
I've never took time to try paperwhites. But I will now. 😀
They're very easy! Good luck!
All three projects are very nice. Thanks for sharing 👍!!
Thank you! 😊
I love the moss and silver tray, I think it looks beautiful ❤️
Thank you! 🤗
Jenny, yours is the best and most informative demonstration for planting paper white bulbs! You've given me SO many ideas!
Now I can't wait to have fun planting some! Thanks so much for the inspiration❣️ Linda in Houston, Tx.
Glad it was helpful!
I also love moss. I work at an ecology center in St. Louis, Missouri we are a zone 6. I have a number of tree stumps that I love to visit that have gorgeous moss growing on them. I have one question how will you support the stems when they begin to grow on the moss and silver pedestal. I can remember when I was in high school I grew paperwihites in my bedroom and I just loved the scent. Thanks for another inspiring video.
I think I'll probably tie a ribbon around the leaves and stems, tying them all together into one mass.
Jenny I liked your hair style so much I had mine cut similar. Love your channel thanks
haha, that's fun! Thanks!
Excited to see them in bloom!! Thanks for sharing
Me too!! They're coming along nicely, won't be long, and I'll post an update.
Hi Jenny! I have been enjoying all your festive Christmas crafting videos!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
I hope you’ll be giving us an update on your paper whites? 🎄💚🙃
Of course! :-)
I am in zone 8b and I planted paperwhites in several outdoor containers 3 years ago. They have been in full bloom for about a month now and I love looking outside the kitchen window to see them off my back deck. I had forgotten about them and when the stems started coming up I thought they were my chives until they bloomed and then I remembered.
I am wondering if the bulbs can be divided?
I would think they'd be divided just like daffodils?
They are really pretty, but I have never tried to plant them because of the smell.
True, some folks just don't care for the smell.
How many flowers will you get from that single bulb?
Each bulb usually puts on 4-5 flowers, I think.
