Right. When we say fix a dead battery, we mean fix an actual dead battery that won’t charge. We are trying to fix it because we would like to avoid having to buy another one. I purchase a legit en-el 23 from the Nikon sight to have as a backup battery. I didn’t need it for a long while and the first time i try and use it, it didn’t work. I charged it and all, still didn’t work.
The Nikon P520 Coolpix had a problem with the firmware when it was first released (Version 1.0 of the firmware). Some interaction with the built-in GPS meant that under certain conditions it would power down but then not switch on - Giving the impression that the battery was dead. The solution was to remove the battery and leave the camera without its battery for a number of hours (preferably overnight). There must be some sort of capacitor circuit in the camera that needs to slowly discharge to return it to its original state. Hopefully, when you put the battery back in in the morning the camera should switch on as normal. To stop the issue from happening again upgrade the firmware to Version 1.1. - As of July 2023 the firmware upgrade and instructions for installing it were still available on the Nikon website. I guess that over the years the issue has caused a lot of perfectly good Nikon batteries and maybe even a few Coolpix P520s to be thrown away unnecessarily.
I have the Nikon P520 and think I have this exact issue. When I plug the charger into the camera the light of the on/off switch remains solidly on... I can't get the camera to switch on at all.
Please help. I have a charger Nikon MH-24. The problem is the charger won't charge the battery. Once I inserted it on the charger the battery gets full already, its stop blinking and when I put it on my camera the camera would say it is low bat. Can anyone help me fix it?
Hi I have a Nikon p1000 - I charge the batteries using a Newmowa charger and up to recently it had worked well. I put in the batteries and I can use the camera up to a month after. Recently I charge the batteries and I find that the camera does not turn on after 4-5 days. What is happening? The camera is 3 years old. Appreciate your help.
I just got a secondhand D5000 off of MPB that was in good condition and came with a battery and the Nikon charger. I fully charged it and put it in and the camera just beeps for like 2 seconds straight whenever I switch it on or off, nothing works. It didn’t come with a manual or anything, I’m assuming the camera is trying to say that the battery is dead or faulty?
I have a nikon p600 that was working perfectly until the next day, and it wouldn't power on :-(.. I charged the battery however after using the camera for a minute or so (or after taking 3 photo's) a message appear saying the battery is exhausted. Does this mean the battery isn't good anymore? Also I bought a new battery but the camera won't even turn on..any thoughts on this? thanks!

Haven't used my Nikon Coolpix in 2 years and tried to charge the original battery for 8 hours. The flashing green light just kept flashing. So now I just bought a new battery and it's been charging for over 3 hours. Is this normal? When will it be charged? I cannot turn on the camera while it's charging. Thank you
great info. I had three batteries of NIKON not work after camera was stored for a year with it turned on..... so assume it is the Camera?? Note your video is blurry throughout the instruction..... you were just too close.
Sometimes the problem is with the charging cable, not the battery. Mine wouldn't start or even take a charge. Then I swapped out the wall plug charger (with an old Samsung phone charger) and now its charging just fine...
Short solution. You can't fix a dead battery as the video suggests. In saying that if you're tech savvy, you may be able to pry apart the shell of your current dead battery and replace the failed cells in side. you're welcome.

You do realize that that's not at all the only type of nikon battery. Those are for the smaller dinkier cameras. The bigger cameras have bigger batteries.
How about this dilemma then? I have 2 Nikon OEM Batteries that I bought new with the Z7 camera. Now one charges, the other does not. Both with the same Nikon OEM charger. Any suggestions about the non functioning Nikon OEM battery that does not charge?
Measure voltage on the battery (you need some wires or tin foil) it might even be zero. Then connect it to a different battery to charge it up. And it seems that charging in camera (connect camera with USB cable) is more tolerant of low voltage than the battery charger.
@@olddanb1 I hope it works well for you. Just so you know, I used that with my z50 battery today which is a different model. But the battery didn't work before (no light in the charger at all, the 3rd party battery that broke a while ago makes the led flash) and now it's happily charging in the wall charger again.
