Good info. Thanks. Saw this in a KOF15 Discord. It's good when you can find tendencies in the opponent. Maybe I'll find what the overheads are for various characters. Hops on pad can be a pain (at least for me). Been trying them for many years, and herd tapping down after a tap jump or analog stick flick can help.
Yeah hops on pad need some getting used to, doing them as tap u then down can work, or as up forward into forward. You can also try flicking up into upward. It all depends on you though and what you feel is more consistent for you.

I feel like these tips mostly only apply to the higher levels when people are actually thinking. Nothing here actually tells me how to open up the rank 10 Ash who just holds down back and then flash kicks as soon as he sees me go for a jump in lol
This is supposed to show you how you’re supposed to think, in your scenario the answer is to run up then block, do a low or throw. You can also do standing normals, or throw projectiles at him. You can also be cheeky with things like run up then backroll. Hops can work too if he’s not sharp as theyre faster than jumps. You have a lot of options aside from just jumping at him.
@@Countdownsmiles yeah in a case like this flashkick is super risky, if you bait it you’re taking half life from him where the damage you’ll take is very minimal. Try to be less obvious in your jumps where he isnt just crouching there waiting for it. If he’s waiting for the jump and you run up in his face he’ll be less prepared for it and you can throw him or start your pressure. If you do a crouch B and block and he flashkicks then thats the ideal scenario and you get a full combo.

Option selects in kof arent that big or necessary. You have the back+C OS after blocking jumps ins after cr.B doing f+C+A one to catch rolls or get a standing A if the cr.B whiffs. There’s a few more regarding buffer timings (eg: inputting a special late after a normal) but these are very specific to some characters or scenarios.

@@Demondzeta for me I just play sets with my local scene, especially if its someone similar to your level or a bit above. Long sets are good for that coz you start seeing habits and patterns and your opponent can see some of yours as well. Watching footage of your matches and taking notes can be good too if you want to find things to work on and improve. And obviously watching high level matches to see what theyre doing thats working or things you can add to your arsenal. I know its been a while but I’ll have vids for Neutral, combo tips and a few others soon. If you have someone outside of those you wanna see I’m open to ideas on what to do a guide on next.

If I may suggest something that would be some pro match analysis, also how to actually find and correct your mistakes watching your replays or how to analize pro matches with some examples would be good, as a lot of what happens in the screen is sometimes hard to understand deeply enough, that's why i asked you about OSs. I would also subject analisis on begginer players matches and what are their common mistakes and how to fix them, and the use of diferent blockstrings depending on what you want could be good too. I know i'm asking a lot but above all that i just want to keep watching your content, you are the best ever, and I mean it. Thank you.
Depends on what it does with your character. With some its a good ground poke (Meiten, Mai, King) with some it moves you forward so you cancel it to get more range on your specials (Ralf, Shunei, Kyo) with some its a good anti air so you can use it to cover the hop space (Luong, Jenet, Robert) with some its very situational and you wont use it much (Ramon, Whip, Shermie).

What games you are talking about? Older kofs you cant charge power. Best way is to attack or to use specials, especially if you a special that recovers quickly.

My issue right now is how to block some crossups like Angel's jC because with some characters I don't have a really good AA, so as for now I am trying to roll forward which not always work, and jumping in place could work against her but not other characters with better jumping buttons going for crossup as well, any advice?
Thats a bit too open ended, but against crossups rolling forward is good to avoid it, or close normals (close A or close C) but this will depend on your character and what their close normals are like. 3rd option is if you have an invincible move, you can do it to the other side. Like if you’re Terry you can buffer his rising tackle if you expect the crossup, but buffer it to the other side (reverse dp) then hit the A/C button once they jump over you. If its not on oki, neutral hops or hopping backwards with a button are good options to stop them from going over you to crossup. Last thing here, a lot of crossups are dependent on if you’re crouching or standing, if they hit you when you’re standing the opponent’s height is a factor here. A lot of them might be done too high so you can throw the opponent after it (sometimes even if the crossup hit).
What character would you recommend for a person that is used to playing sfv and playing this game for the 1st time? I like controlling space and "slowing" down the game with characters with good normals, anti airs etc
Robert, Athena, Ralf, Andy, Iori, Mai, Terry. They are good characters for newcomers from a SF background. Try them out and see who fits your style from them.

Man don't hate it, find a friend to play with, KOF is awesome, I got washed constantly as an old veteran (I am old tho, 35 years) and still I enjoy playing it even when I got rekt, but mainly because I play with a friend on weekends, if you can't stop playing it is because you are enjoying it but getting mad that you can't improve as fast as you want, just chill and practice, cheers man.
Yeah I'm old too. I'm 31 I literally can't convince anyone to try it out. Nobody I know likes fighting games. I am enjoying it. It's a love hate thing. Don't worry I'm not going to stop playing it.
