This scene is one of the reasons why Ross is more compatible with Rachel than someone like Charlie who's seemingly very like him. Rachel definitely shares his humor. They'd have more fun together even if Rachel didn't share his interest in Science or dinosaurs.
But Charlie was portrayed as fun too. When they ditched that boring professor or when she suggested he fills champaign bottles with water. I think she was just out of his league. He was a break from nobel winners for her🤷♀️
Kathy was out of Chandlers league, Kate Miller was out of Joeys and Ross is a bit out of Rachels league to be honest here, but it worked at the end

Totally agree with you. I guess that was the point, with Charlie? Technically she was “the perfect woman” for Ross on paper: pretty, intelligent, similar job. But this relationship proved that it’s not enough... Rachel brings all this passion to his life.
