We can write measures at desktop level in the Live connection file, but we can't write calculate columns. If it is needed after downloading into the local machine from a cloud file, then we can write it.
That's correct. In Power BI Desktop, when working with live connections to data sources, you can create and edit measures directly within the model. Measures are calculations that aggregate data and can be used in visualizations. However, calculated columns cannot be directly created or edited in live connection mode. Calculated columns are columns that are derived from existing columns within the data model and are typically used to create new columns or modify existing ones. If you need to create or modify calculated columns, you'll need to: Download the data from the cloud source to your local machine. Create or edit the calculated columns in Power BI Desktop using the downloaded data. Reconnect the live connection to the cloud source.
