  • I'm no fan of Google Analytics and all the data Google collects on our every move. This is why I'm testing out alternatives like Independent Analytics.
    We all need to track our website analytics to see if that new blog post is ranking or what our top-selling product is. Tools like Independent Analytics make it so much easier than the big player - Google Analytics.
    So, if you're looking for a much less scary website analytics platform that takes into account GDPR, take a look at Independent Analytics and try it for size.

      @@KennyGriffin Thanks, Kenny. You're probably right about that. Google Analytics seems to drag everything down for pagespeeds. How do you think this would work in combination with Slim SEO for faster loads?
    I'm trying to keep everything light and fast. I'm running GenPress and Blocks, both Pro, and the results have been great so far. And Autoptimize seems to do it's job, too.

    • @CompeteThemes
      @CompeteThemes Год назад +3

      It should work well with Slim SEO. Independent Analytics has minimal impact on performance because it doesn't load any JS files, internal or external. It only makes an asynchronous REST-API call to your own site to record the visit.

    What are the implications of UTM and GDPR? DO you need to explicitly inform people that your links in your emails and on your website may be used to track them, or is it sufficient to only put that as a clause in your terms and conditions on your website?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Год назад

      I gues it would depend on what data is being tracked. If there is no personally identifiable information being supplies (i.e. IP address, email address, name, etc.,) then I would imagine that would comply with GDPR.
      Obviously, I'm not in any way providing legal advise and I could be totally off base. But, my understanding is it's all about identifiable information.

      Hey there, we're the makers of IA. When you install the plugin, you'll see a button to skip data sharing, and then there won't be any info sent to Freemius. We understand that Freemius has had backlash for privacy concerns in the past, but they've addressed most of these issues as of March 2023.
      There isn't a trick behind us offering the plugin for free - it is truly free to use. Some users will upgrade to PRO, and that's how we are able to make a business out of it. We've been doing the same thing with our themes for almost 9 years now :)

    One great idea related to your topic "Goodbye Google Analytics, Hello Independent Analytics" could be to create a comprehensive guide on how to set up and use independent analytics tools to track and analyze website data. This guide could cover topics such as selecting the right analytics tool for your needs, configuring the tracking code, setting up goals and funnels, creating custom reports, and interpreting the data to make informed decisions. Additionally, you could discuss the benefits of using independent analytics tools such as data privacy, data ownership, and flexibility, compared to relying solely on Google Analytics. By providing practical advice and useful insights, you could help website owners and digital marketers transition to independent analytics tools and take control of their data.
