Wisconsin almost always loses these games. Last #1 knockoff was 2010 OSU. With the chokes against Penn st and USC earlier this year it was never a doubt we'd lose this one too. Just never had a good QB in my lifetime (you could count 2011 i guess).

Oregon doesn't play like "champions" they play like a finesse team that has so many chinks in its armor that still manages to scrape past opponents despite the mistakes they make. Oregon hasn't played anybody outside of Ohio St and the rest of Oregons schedule are unranked teams. And people complain about Ohio St's schedule.

Weirdly, I wasnt that mad about it. Wisconsin QB had like 90 yards passing all game, so Lanning attempted the shot at icing the game with a first down or leaving it up to the defense. Sure, most coaches would take the points and make Wisconsin need to score a TD, but if Wisconsin blocks the field goal or gets a good kick return, then it could be a different ending. Lanning pretty much said, "my defense is in gear right now and your QB sucks, and you are pinned at the 20 yard line without any passing game and under 2 minutes to go" and took that chance. I respect it.
It was the right call. The only risk in doing the fake field goal is if Oregon can't make it to the first down, BUT they would've made the field goal and not had it blocked or missed (because in that case it wouldn't have mattered anyway), then after the failed fake field goal, Wisconsin comes back and can't make a TD but gets a field goal since a Wisconsin TD would've won them the game even if Oregon had made the field goal, and then Wisconsin makes their field goal, and then Oregon doesn't have time to score their own field goal afterwards, then it goes into overtime and Oregon who's the much better team on both sides of the ball loses in overtime. That's a lot of ifs for it to matter.
Absolutely I like the idea and kudos to him for playing to win but in that situation if you want to go for it keep your offense out on the field period. You can get away with that against Wisconsin or USC but if your playin a Georgia, an Alabama, a Ohio st. A mistake like that can easily come back to bite you
