What a graceful loser! A smile on his face as he finished; more relaxed and possibly enjoying the game more now than in his playing career. Bon chance, mon ami
Coming from a man who tackled Morne Steyn in the air just passed the halfway line in the last British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa. He lost it there for them, and was in tears. He has a seriously big rugby heart. One of the true legends of the sport. I really do hope he has the chance to win a trophy with La Rochelle. He deserves a break.
@@topflightfamilys Yes bud. I know. I was actually praising him there. What i meant as i wrote. He deserves a break. One mistake never defines a person. That was a low point and he deserves better. He got some back assisting with the Crusaders. I believe he will be getting plenty more in a season or so.
@@shawnvantonder3490 Also, the team lost the game by leaving it in the balance.... I know you weren't slating the lad but we know ourselves a lions win or any win in SA is a tall order and not down to a single play. Shame that a moment can tarnish a career of brilliance for some...
Hindsight is 20:20 but if La Rochelle kicked their 3s on offer they'd have really built up the scoreboard and had a much greater chance of getting the win. Losing finals is a great learning tool
We're not going to throw the book at Ihaia West, who is an excellent visionary and playmaker by the way! However, we also need one (or two) people to kick 100%, to relieve him of those shots between the posts. We have too much waste at this level to be in the big league. Then a pity for Lep's Botia, who got carried away, certainly wanting to give his all for the team, he's a nice lad by the way, but that's also the vagaries of the game. But all is not lost, we still have the Top 14, with the finals that will soon start with in the players' minds (if they remain positive) a certain advantage of having beaten Leinster and held the Toulouse team in check for a very long time, with 14 players, the boys have to keep this image in mind, it's a very positive point!
@@leonardodavinci7425 I'm no one to judge, and in no way a La Rochelle player, because I've been a supporter of this club since I was a child and it's my favourite club! Now you are free to think what you want! Of course a player of the class of Elton Jantjies, would be an asset in our game, but this kind of player is very difficult to find at the right time for both parties (club-player).
Super O Gara , the mans pride , talent and ambition will drive rugby and competitiveness to new levels. Hehe, I’m a little biased , but watch out for Rog 👍🤣🤣
The Laws of the game need a complete overhaul, I know the conditions weren't great but considering the talent on the pitch we should be seeing more entertainment than that, physicality has taken preeminence over speed and skill ,we had some wonderful three-quarters on that field and for most of the game they hardly had a look in , maybe it's time to reduce the numbers because unless you can get quick ball it is very difficult to attack especially in poor conditions, I would cut the number of substitutions as well. Ps Im fed up with the amount of time taken by the TMO as well as the scrum and the goalkickers, let's make the game more aerobic so that players will have to be lighter to cover more ground which will help to decrease the physical impact in the tackle, congratulations to Toulouse on your fifth title from an envious Bath supporter .
Didn't watch but entirely agree with you. I think the breakdown is the key. Its too easy to slow it down and to win keep the ball which encourages rucks and disencourages offloads and pops off the ground. If the jackal had to keep their feet it wouldn't be boring. If the clear out had to keep their feet the physicality would be less, it would encourage an open game.
So many tight big matches are lost when teams don't take 3 when it's on offer. For me 2 stick in the mind - Dallaglio turning down 3 when England would have put Wales away with a couple of minutes to go in the Wembley 6 Nations game. Scott Gibbs scored a late try to deny England a Grand Slam/Title - and Big Bob Casey's inexplicable decision vs Leicester in the Prem Final 2008 or 2009. London Irish have never really been the same team since that day.
@@KelzMon I’m a bit confused but does the fact that it’s a record fifth title mean it’s one more than Leinster? Either way that ought to motivate the Irish side to go one better.

Love his honesty in post match interviews. He’ll go far as a coach and fingers crossed that La Rochelle grow with him at the top next year
