I visited Uganda after 50 years, spending my childhood there. I was at Nakasero market last week. What a joy to see abundance of fruits and vegetables I grew up with. Everything was so fresh.

Gonja is plantain, Matooke is green bananas. Its the main food of the Baganda people who make up 1/3 of the pouplation of Uganda. Iam not familiar with the main foods of other tribes in Uganda.

Its wrong to say matoke (Bananas) is our staple food...we in the north and east don't eat that ...so it's insulting.. Uganda is not Buganda.
