Personally I would put all your sealed sets somewhere else, and I would cover each wall with shelves and display all your sets on the shelves. It would look a lot cleaner to me but it’s just my opinion
I don't know much in the way of audio visual stuff.....but oooooh do I love organizing!! lol After watching your basement tour video I would recommend that you store your unopened sets NOT on your display shelves. They could even be kept in labeled totes or boxes. This will give you more space to display your opened sets, minifigs, etc. which will in turn clear up loads of table top space, and perhaps make more room for a larger filming desk set up. If it's possible I would say split up your brick link store stuff from your personal collection as well. anywho I hope this is helpful, thanks for all the great Lego content!!
To make space for a centered desk area you could make some of the back LEGO set shelf’s where your desk would be in front of off to the side, maybe facing each other with a mini nook in between
I think whatever works out for you will be good. It's crazy to see how many Legos you have; my collection is a work in progress. Thanks for all the great Lego content!
I have a similar room to what you have, and what I did is put the desk in the middle like you talked about. I think if you get a bigger desk for building and maybe get a second camera for building streams/Timelapse’s it would add a lot. You can have one camera at the angle it’s at with your current setup, and a second one kinda far off and level with the desk.
I would definitely do the big display behind you, and since you have that TV on the wall, if it can swing out you could have it display your slides for you instead of you having to cut to them (through editing, not actually displaying it). Just ideas.
The main desk in the middle of the carpet like you said would be perfect, one thing I've always wanted to do for myself would be hanging some ships like a foot or so from the ceiling, maybe like a tie fighter or something. you could get a storage unit for your sealed collection, or just things that you have that you dont need to look at. Maybe a really big table where the futon is for MOC's, if I think of anything else I'll edit this comment. Looking forward to the change, Long Live Lifebricks!
I would start by organizing everything in that area. From my personal experience, I had a very messy LEGO room and once I organized it, I found there was much more room afterward. using the space around you is key. I fill in every inch of space on my shelf where it would otherwise have been empty. An example is my UCS sets, I used to keep them alone on a shelf but I started to put sets under, next to and on top of the sets to crowd the shelf and it ended up looking more impressive. In the last two weeks I also took up a new technique of displaying sets on the wall and ceiling. This makes a room look incredible and really shows off the collection. Those unopened boxes should be kept off shelves and be put into a designated area of the room off camera and packed in and organized so they don't take up too much space. For any non LEGO stuff, I would try to put recognizable and impressive sets in the backgrounds it'll catch peoples eye since they know what it is immediate after seeing it. Its also a very good way to show off some of those gems not many people would see otherwise. The lighting should not be too bright since the reflection can catch on the glasses or any other surfaces that might reflect light and end up making the footage look bad. You should test it out first but pointing a light slightly away from the area you want to illuminate can dim it up a bit and makes it look more natural but it has to be in the right placement and brightness to pull off the effect. And for audio, a mic clipped to a shirt not too close is the best and easiest way to get audio. Really just try and build the room off of the desk and view it as a center piece and fill up every inch of space to get not only the maximum amount of efficiency, but also the best look and view of the collection. Hopefully some of this was helpful.
Heyo Tyler, I think whatever you end up doing, it’ll look fresh and clean. My one recommendation would be to find a way to suspend the light umbrella’s from the ceiling. I think you’d be amazed at how much space you’ll gain and how much more professional it’ll look from the space below it. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Mount your lighting on the ceiling on a track with ball joints on the lights to allow for adjustability without taking away walking space. You will get the same lighting capability but a lot more comfort in your space
I really like the idea of swinging your desk maybe over into thel the middle of the room. Like you said, move sealed sets around. Bring in more SW sets into the background. If you hang lights on to the ceiling or raftors you would eliminate the light reflection we can see in your glasses as well. Last I would extend that stair set that leads to your show space or get another black shelfing unit to cover the missing stair area. More display space is always a better idea. I think Ikea has disounts with the reward app but ends in February I believe. Only 5% or so
From first glance I think it would free up a lot of space to store the sealed sets somewhere else. If you’re not going to mess with it anytime soon, then it wouldn’t hurt to put it out of sight.
Yeah Id say, eliminating the amount of stuff in the space would be best, less is more as they say. Cable management. Possible hang some of the ships from the ceiling on strong clear line to free up some open space. Maybe have the background a little further behind you to have some stuff in focus and some out of focus. Definitely a lot of different things that can be done
Center your desk on the window. Put the L table in the back left corner for display sets, and to quickly move between desks while sitting. As if you’ve just walked into your office and you are at command.
I think that if you move the table as far to the left(from the perspective of sitting on the chair) as possible and then take some stuff off of the shelves behind you so that the background is more simplistic the whole setup could be nicer. If I was there in person I would probably see a few problems with that idea but from what I've seen in the video it makes sense to me. Sorry for the bad grammar I'm typing this on an Ipod5 so it isn't the easiest way to type.
You should talk with a professional organizer. They have many ways to improve efficiency with this set up. After the consultation put it online. With there recommend options. The shelves seems fine or maybe a large table in the island with your desk? A Professional could chop suey that problem up in no time at all. Get a few recommendation s from a university student who is studying office efficiency.
My own personal opinion is this. You need to move all of your sealed sets (preferably mailed to me 😉🤣). All jokes aside I think no matter what you do it will turn out great. I honestly love the background you have rn (I know its a little crowded and stuff) but its really up to you.
i have a couple things first of all im not crazy about the carpet I would take that out and replace it with the same color hardwood and for the sealed sets on the back wall I would get a storage unit or find another place to put them and replace the back wall with some shelving like on the left side
I think that you should have your own desk office area where you make videoes maby you have som lego on the desk as decoration. A big shelf with your favoritt lego should be behind you. Have all sealed boxes on the same place and some tables with only big lego ships would be cool.
A little late, and I'm going to throw a curveball... use the corner of the room. You could showcase more built sets from the view of the camera versus having a straight section behind you. "< | " is the best text depiction I can give 😅

And keep the table in the middle like you said so when you record so you could have a bunch of sets displayed behind you

Ah, that room full of legos! Truly beautiful the room of a LifeBicks is!
Do what your heart desires Tyler and they will look wonderful regardless

I think clear out the area then start placing your work station where you want it. Then from there start placing things around that
I like your videos as is and I’m sure no matter what you do your content will still stay top notch😊
I think maybe in one of the spaces behind you put a square for a next or upcoming video/review. A nice little preview
Just some organization would be the best start. Maybe get most if not all of specific things in one spot so you can better see what you have.
When you change it your lights.
Go with the 4000k led lights.
They are white, and give true color tone on camera.
Yeah Id say,
