After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. The dynamic between Rooster and Maverick made this film for me. At first I thought Rooster was angry at Maverick for letting his dad die or something but the actual reason was much better for the story.

My face started to hurt because of how much i smiled. I cried a lot in the last scene. I almost cried in Tom Cruise's entry, like its so beautiful!!!! I held the tears back only because i didnt want an eyelash falling into my eye and ruining the experience. I stayed back and watched the credits with tears running down my face as i thought about what i had just watched. I am still in shock actually. Many of the themes are played in the credits so that's another reason of staying back.
I've watched this 5 times and its absolutely brilliant. I've cried every time. Its one of the best things that has ever happened to me (if not the best). I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. I skipped school multiple times to watch this masterpiece. To think there is almost no cgi is just mind blowing. My whole family is obsessed with this movie. Best movie to ever exist!!!!!

Epic movie experience. Tom delivered. Thanks Tom. On a side note, the intro at the front of the movie was so well done! After I saw that, I knew that the money I just spent was well worth it because you thought of the person (like me) who was going to watch the movie while you made it. Highest respect.

we are in the middle of the year, and BY FAR this is the best movie of 2022.... If dont get the Oscar, too bad for the Oscar, i spent 30m in the mall walking just to my adrenaline stabilize.

My question is, did the actors have vision tests? If they had anything less than 20/20, I’d assume they didn’t get the part. Or that’s just terrifying.
The actors didn’t fly - navy pilots did. Still incredible.
Tom tried to push for the opportunity - he’s a true aviator - and unfortunately, he was denied.
He did get to launch off a carrier though.
