Thank you so much! The dye saturation part is exactly what i was wondering about. I'm doing different colors on each side and it's been really tricky adding enough dye without anything getting overpowered or ruined
This was fantastic. I want to get a couple of packages of small bandana's and do this initially with them. There are SOOO many variations of each tie that can produce such unbelievable results!!! Fun!!! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you and yes I love to take one design and just play with it in different ways... great way to learn and see what else is possible ..... you are welcome
Hi Mr. Tie Dye! I watched your video and immediately tied the four pedal star flower on a handkerchief. Since it was just a quick experiment, I dyed it then popped it into the microwave for one minute then washed it out. Surprisingly the color stayed strong and the pattern is very visually impactful. Thanks again for an outstanding tutorial!
Mister Tie Dye, I would like to take a moment to commend you on this video in particular. I have been tie dyeing for going on 4 years now. I consider myself self-taught, though, admittedly, the majority of my knowledge was gained from watching RUclips tutorials, such as yours. And I have seen many, but none quite as in-depth or detailed as this one. I learned this particular design from your original tutorial you posted and, have since, sold a few items featuring this design. For that, I wish to say, thank you, sir. Your vast knowledge and willingness to share your knowledge is exceptional. Anyway, I found this video particularly informative in every aspect of this design as well as tie dyeing, in general. I absolutely love and enjoy watching your channel. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. When I make these videos, I do not have a script or anything... I just know what design I am doing and then I hit record and go for it ... I had a lot of practice though, I have been doing school events for 15 years and I am used to a bunch of kids gathered around my table while I do tie dye and explain what I am doing so everyone can understand and I feel this carries over into my video now. I am glad to be of hello to you and so many other people around the World... I know success brings me joy and i want everyone to feel joy when they create. Namaste ~
how did i miss this star flower design!?my grand kids are addicted to dish cloth tie dye. i have made so many. all mandalas some with hemostats. my pregnant grand daughter wants some for wrapping the new baby.28 by 28 is too small that i do.i thought i would contact the guy that does tapestries to see what i could get. i am very lucky all my 8 grand kids and great grand kids live in our small town. here i go on and on without thanking you for all your amazing videos and work you do and your good heart 1

I tie dye silk to make worship flags. It's a bit different than cotton, but it's nice to know the different ways of folding. Do you have one to creat Waves 🌊? I've seen one for a heart beat line, but need to relocate it... Was that one of yours? I want the line, which I will place across the flag with a heart in the center. Thanks for listening. I've also taken to dying t shirts because of your videos. 😁
I used to dye a lot of silk and love how vivid the colors come out... as for the wave, here is a video I did a while back on what I call the tidal wave ..... ruclips.net/video/N2pA0r206Wg/видео.html .... it gives a wave like design .... and yes I have done a heart beat tee a while back but I cannot find a pic right now
Awesome as always! Quick question -- you show three different ways to do this but there are more than that at the end of the video -- I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out which finished bandana corresponds to the three examples -- really like the half circle design. Thanks for your inspiration and knowledge - peace.
Hello Mary ... I tied 7 of the starflower bandanas in this video ... the first 4 were getting different number of points or petals ... I did 3, 4, 6, and 8 petals.... then I tied one and instead of using the center point of the bandana, I used the edge as the center and this gave me the two half circle starflowers, here is that point in the video ..... ruclips.net/video/H7qvx7v86oU/видео.html and then I tied another one and used the corners as the center and then one more that I dyed in just two colors ...... and just in case you did not see it, here is the reveal of the 7 bandanas ..... ruclips.net/video/PfGo-i73EzQ/видео.html
fitted bed sheets are a bit of a pain to work with due to the elastic edge... when I fold them, I tend to start in the middle of the sheet and twist or fold from there and then as I get to the outer edges, I just fold or lay the fabric where I can best get it to fit if I am going to do a mandala or something where I need the center of the sheet, I will take my time and carefully fold the sheet so that each of the corners are fit all into one corner ... I just try to line up the hems on them as best I can ... sorry I do not have any other secrets about working with these other than maybe have some help on hand as well ✌️
Thank you for sharing I have been teaching my granddaughter how to tie dye she and I watch your videos we made our own soda ash how long do you soak your shirts in it and long do you let the dye stay on the shirts

My God, what a beautiful and wonderful job! congratulations! but could it only be done on small fabrics or could it be done on T-shirts? wow i loved it i will do it! thank you!!
yes I have been using these fiber reactive procion dyes for 19 year and love the results .... there are other dye places that sell these type dyes, but since I am in Oregon, I buy from dharma, I know some people who live elsewhere buy from Custom Colors, Grateful Dyes or others
The dyes you buy from Walmart or any of the big box craft stores are just cheap, low quality dyes. They are good and easy to get for people who are dyeing just for fun or even for those who are just learning how to tie dye, which was the case with me, personally. But, for anyone who looks to get serious about their tie dyeing craft, the Procion MX dyes are the only way to go.
I have a strange question for you.I bought a 100% cotton duvet set .I spent a long time soaking it all then tying it and dying it,but the strangest thing happened. It was extremely vibrant and when I rinsed it with the cold water ,all of the color except a sky blue and white markings are left.I know it wasn't the dye ,because I did a sheet set and tee shirt all at the same time and they are all extremely vibrant.
two things I can think of is the duvet cover was mis marked and was mostly polyester ... or it had a very heavy stain resist which did not allow the dye to bond

Uhmm siir can we use a rubber band as the substitute for the thin rope you use there for the bandana? The one for tying them up? Anyways thanks for the tutorial sir
yes rubber band will work as well... just need something to old everything together, kite string just happens to be what I prefer to use now, but I use rubber-bands for many year.
I suppose if you had a big piece of fabric, like a rectangle shape, you could fold it in half to start, so that it would be about square after folded in half....... and then fold that piece in half like it is just one layer ..... and then do the airplane folds to the whole thing... hope that makes sense but this would double the layers of fabric so you will need to keep putting dye on, let it soak in and come back and add more and I would let it dry out before you start dyeing it and work from just one side .... then this would give you two starflowers side by side
I want to do something like this but on a bedsheet, its so large how can I do this without being so "tedious" because I dont think I could do it so large
yes this can be done on large sheets .... you just need more room to spread the sheet out and get it folded up in the airplane folds.... from there, then you can take it to your table and start the rolling process, just go slow and work the crease in as you go so it stays flat and then with dyeing, make sure to dye from just the top side until you can see bits of color coming through to the bottom in the thicker areas of the sheet, then you can flip and finish dyeing the bottom... have fun!!
