      Yep, If you mean that if is legal to jump to the inside of the attack line before touching it, set it and then touch the ground is totally legal

    i finally understand now. I always got so confused when people mentioned that they can hit or attack past the line but the ball has to be below the net. But seeing the visual examples really helped!

    OUTSTANDING!!! Thanks for explaining this so well. Every single season, I see coaches, referees, and athletes confuse the libero setting rule and the libero attacking rule. The 10 foot line has nothing to do with the libero attack.

    Thanks for posting this. Many people are unaware of this aspect of the Libero rules. It makes for arguments that lead to sanctions on the court. Knowledge is key!😉

    I really want to play libero because I don’t care if I break a bone or hit the floor, but I can also spike and set really well. Im an all around a player, so idk what position I am.

    The Libero can legally set the ball over the net either behind or in front of the attack line too. In front or on the line as long as they don't jump above the net.

  • @40beretta1
    @40beretta1 4 года назад +6

    Great information....the issue we / I see with this position....under 14 Club(s) don't know how the Libero is used. "we have a tiny player; give her the oddball shirt'. turns out they are anything but the best defensive player. OR; teams use the Libero as a free 'rotation' which is legal, but, you've designated one player out. We've seen a lot of higher ranked 12U'z using the Libero and she has no clue the rules...and the coach plays dumb.

  • @shahubaidullah1660

    Ok coach tell me if the libero make an over hand pass from front 3 meters for a back row player can he attack hit the ball if the ball is entirely high from the net with concern rule.

    So what is the advantage of having a libero on the play?

    • @andystaffy
      @andystaffy 8 лет назад +5

      the libero can substitute more often. for all the other players it´s limited to 1 time in or out each set.

    • @andystaffy
      @andystaffy 8 лет назад +5

      and with a good defender it gives longer rallies, wich is better for the viewers watching the game.

    • @cottontwist1943
      @cottontwist1943 6 лет назад +5

      a liberal in play you ask? The libero is a defensive player. Having a libero can assure you more that the ball wont hit the ground cuz the libero will be there to dig it and say a spike gets blocked, the libero can dive in and save the ball from touching the ground because as we all know it isn't over till the ball touches the ground.

    soooo i can set if i jump past the attacking line and set mid air?

    • @asherchong9641
      @asherchong9641 6 лет назад

      Pink Suspect depends on the hitter or height of the ball

    • @markzabel2631
      @markzabel2631 5 лет назад +2

      Yes; if you leave the floor behind the 3m (10 ft. line) you can set however you want (in mid-air).

  • @Marcv1285
    @Marcv1285 Год назад

    I love how he said: the libero can serve EXCEPT in international volleyball. What he should have said: the libero CAN'T serve EXCEPT in the US.
    One thing worth mentioning about the Attack fault with libero setting the ball inside the attack line is that there's no fault until the ball either cross the net or a block becomes effective (just like any other attack fault). For example, let say the opponent throw an easy ball on your side inside the 3 meter line, and the libero set the ball and the attacker hit the ball above the net, however he hit the ball in the net, in that case there's no fault, the play continue and your teammate can do a 3rd hit to send the ball on the other side. This is also important to understand in cases an opponent commits a fault while the ball is sent into the net. It is important for a referee to understand when the fault happens.

  • @pinksuspect6661

    what about jump set

    • @markzabel2631
      @markzabel2631 5 лет назад

      Depends on where the libero is, when leaving the floor, and then making contact with the ball.

  • @roshanpaidi
    @roshanpaidi 5 лет назад +1

    cant the libero jump and set when he's in the front of attack line? only bump is the option he had?

  • @cezaceza2857
    @cezaceza2857 4 года назад +1

    What about jumping from the back row and setting while jumping?

    • @adrielcruz2736
      @adrielcruz2736 3 года назад

      That’s perfectly legal and is referred to as a “Libero set”, and is often done when teams are doing multiple spiker attacks to confuse and delay the reaction of the opponent, and is done in national teams and advanced adult teams where they want as many people to attack as possible.

  • @mrvovira7964
    @mrvovira7964 6 лет назад +4

    but what happens if the libero jumps before the line and setts mid air???

  • @kaylalong4836
    @kaylalong4836 6 лет назад +1

    Hi, Thank you so much for the video! If the libero is in front of the 3m line when she sets the ball, is it illegal for the hitter to drive the ball or hit the ball below the height of the net? Or can the hitter only bump or set the ball?

    • @markzabel2631
      @markzabel2631 5 лет назад

      YES; It is the position of the ball, in reference to the net, when contact with the ball is made by the attacker. If ht. of ball is above the net, and played, Illegal hit.

    • @berlygirl14
      @berlygirl14 3 года назад

      Yes, as long as a portion of the ball is below the height of the net. If the hitter realizes the Libero’s position after they’ve jumped, they can still save it by dropping their elbow and Trying to roll the ball from its lowest point possible.

  • @kawaiikat2042

    I am the Libero for my team, can I jump & attack the ball from the back court as well? I really enjoy being a libero.

    • @ryanstejskal1506
      @ryanstejskal1506 Год назад

      Not if the ball is above the height of the net. The libero, unlike other back row players, can't attack _anywhere on the court_ while the ball is completely above the height of the net.

  • @rkive9210

    The questions are : how high is the ball on moment of play ?
