This was Wipeout at its best, Paul Daniels was just a quiz show legend when I was growing up!! Thanks for bringing these to us, definitely hope more are coming…
I don't like to criticise a legend, but I have to admit that the thing which always annoyed me about the Bob Monkhouse version was that he'd pre-empt every given answer as being either correct or a wipeout before it was confirmed on the screen. It kinda spoilt the suspense.
Sorry I missed the premiere; I was in one of my college (university as you say) classes at the time. But yeah, this was the superior version of BBC's Wipeout. The Monkhouse Daytime version couldn't even come close despite its stage design resembling the original Tomarken version.
I don't think there is a clean version of the endgame. It's been one of my top requests on the channel and it's another very different asset to get hold of, Unless there's a perfect was of isolating the background noise of cheering and running commentary throughout the round, highly unlikely there's a clean version out there.
Paul Daniels did Series 1-4 of Wipeout on Prime Time Slots Bob Monkhouse took over for Series 5-9 on Daytime Slots Bob Monkhouse got a lot more episodes, but Paul Daniels certainly got the more entertaining episodes
Didn't the Pistols technically reach #1 with God Save the Queen but the charts just left a blank there rather than credit them with it? (That doesn't make the show incorrect, it's just an amusing bit of trivia...)
Rod Stewart was #1 that week according to the Official Charts Company, no blank was left. Whether you believe that was genuine or not is a different matter, but there was no #1 for God Save the Queen officially.
@@saturnsixuk Thanks for that. I didn't completely imagine the blank, though, I'm happy to report. According to Wikipedia "On the singles chart displayed in branches of WH Smith, the single's position at No. 2 was represented by a blank line."

Dave Arch for the win with one of the most under-rated bangers in the history of game show theme tunes!
12 years before, Dave became Mr. Saturday Night as musical director for Strictly Come Dancing.
@MatthewHadley-f9z and 2 years before the absolute banger that was the GMTV suite of themes!

While he had done well over the course of his career, it sounded like he didn't know the meaning of the word "retirement".
8:44 I'll Pass Please Bob!

I thought this was the obstacle course show
No, you are thinking of Total Wipeout. A completely different show to this Wipeout.
Remember Bob Monkhouse usually says well that wipes me out till next time remember that.
10:04 Apparently Diane doesn't know what show she's on either. With that in mind, I think it's time I ask Carol for a consonant.😁
1:40 DELAYED SIREN
27:10 Would love to know if anyone has a full clean version of The WIPEOUT Endgame Music here

Let'a hope there will be!!!! 27:10
8:46 Wait, who's presenting this show again? 😁 Did he think he was on Blockbusters or something?

I thought the first episode had a contestant called Sarah and a grid on American English and fruit
Paul is going to Florida and he has won the star prize and has 6 right answers as well 👏👏👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
And he's got a Frankfurter to go with it
