Good run down of the various dump trailer options. Thanks for helping with my research.

I have that exact Bri Mar “homeowner” trailer except upgraded to 5k axels.
It has made me more money in the last 12 years then any other piece of equipment I have purchased. Do not be afraid of a quality built “economy” trailer

Good video thanks. Leaning towards Texas pride telescopic lift myself. Patriots flag? Guess since Tom Brady is a Wolverine that makes sense. Go Blue!

Texas pride did a overload comparison... first to stop lifting was the scissor lift, then dual ram then front telescopic & it only lifted to the first cylinder

Not all scissor lift mechanisms are from the same manufacturer. Very hard to compare

Not all that informative, but great as a very first watch for someone just beginning to look. Telescoping lifts aren't the be all and end all that this person has been led to believe. Yes, obviously they have easier work to do via placement, but that's the whole reason you are using Hydraulics... the power allows for preferred placement, not just simple leverage. A telescoping cylinder has 3xs as many seals, in an abrasive application.... think about replacing the seals in 10 years...? (every one of them is made in China i believe), or God forbid, replacing the whole cylinder- they're custom units. Scissor lift all use just a standard cylinder: all you need is similar bore and stroke (and not even exactly) and literally any replacement will work, plus easy to rebuild. Also, the Scissor uses Far less oil volume, makes a difference not only in time but battery drain. (thus in very frequent dumping could burn out a pump motor) Also, his conviction on gooseneck is also a little to positive... no mention that it takes away bed space. These are Heavy trailers... just a 3/4ton truck will move them ok, but loaded, @ highway speeds, um, you might want to be thinking about dual wheel rears. One blowout could get very ugly fast. Most of these dumps are not long trailers at all... gooseneck is too much, bumper pull works well, most guys find (exception might be pulling with a newer 1/2ton for the homeowner; they're light in the front, so don't want all the weight in the back..) Just my $.o2, to help others out~

    What about deck over trailers?????

I have a deckover dump...LOVE it. I got mine with the thicker floor, because deckovers don't have the rigidity added from solid sides (if they fold down) Also, most deckovers don't offer rear stabilizers, so loading equipment becomes as issue.... ♡ my deckover ~

Good info. But to call a medium to light duty trailer a ‘homeowner’ trailer is inaccurate. Many of us remolding contractors don’t need nor want anything heavier than a 10 guage trailer. Like another person posted, my medium duty trailer paid for itself in the first three months and I can’t use a bigger trailer because many of the streets I work on are single lane with cars around, with short driveways so when I back in I am in danger of blocking the street. Most of my contractor friends advised me not to go over 10’ in length but I have been making my 12’ trailer work. If you aren’t doing concrete work or hauling heavy duty landscape machinery a heavy duty trailer may be overkill. Also, aren’t you a homeowner?

This comment is correct- unless you are doing excavation, you really don't need a thick floor. Most manufacturers know this, and recommend you go with lighter Guage and then line it with decent plywood. Plywood is excellent at impact resistance. But the floors these companies use are all mild steel... pretty much no impact resistance whatsoever, unlike AR steel used by professional dump body manufacturers. Get the lighter guage, make sure it doesn't rust from below and put solid plywood in it to take the abuse. Be logical, even the manufacturers want you to be sensible (in most cases other than excavation and heavy demolition)

    Scissor lift is the weakest.
