Good news after 40 mins it lifted to a very light strawberry blonde colour thanks again from me so it's safe to do this
That's great to hear! Glad I could help :)
Wow! The color you have now looks amazing and natural. Thanks for sharing! :)
I used henna on my hair for around 3 years and then I got it bleached and put on purple hairdye and a bunch of crazy colours over the years. It's fine as long as your henna is authentic henna (from plants) with nothing added in to the mix.
abrhil herrera if I use red mountain brand henna would I be able to have it bleached and dyed?!
what henna did you bleach from? i want mine gone lol
Maddie Todd Light mountain is a bit different because it’s a powder, but it should be fine because it doesn’t contain metallic salts. However, it could turn out a orange color, I would recommend doing some vitamin C treatments twice a weak, and after each, sleep with olive oil or coconut oil in your hair after ringing it out. After you have reached your desired lightened henna color, I would do a bleach wash, not a full bleach. Wait a couple weeks, then give the bleach a go. Mind you, it takes patience! But it can be achieved.
Wow you have the prettiest and silkiest hair I have ever seen!
Thanks! I’ve been looking for a solution. I didn’t notice it going so dark as well! Want something brighter for the spring.
It’s been one minute on your channel and I already love your channel. 😀
Naww, thank you! Welcome to my little bubble of the internet!
thanks, I needed to know this, I have the same natural hair colour as you and have been using henna for ages, going to try this. or something similar.
Glad I could help ❤️ hope it goes well!
Thank you for your insights! Super helpful video! hugs from Budapest xoxo
Thank you for your comment! Glad I could help!! Love from lovely London x

I lightened up my henna hair with a blond hair dye from Garnier, without ammonia and silicone. It worked rather well on the first go.
I usually used pure henna, and a while ago henna + a bit of indigo (to get a burgundy color), and I don't notice any green tint, and my hair didn't burn or fall out haha
I also have to add that I haven't been using henna for the past 6 months and that I am naturally ashy blond so that helps...
Ah, that's great to hear! Glad it worked out for you :)
Very helpful thank you sweetheart I've cut my hair very short to chop off the henna and all I have of henna left is just the tips of my hair I'll head to holland and barratt and grab some of that stuff thank you!
Updated! Worked a treat! 😁😁
Ive had henna in my hair for 5 years, and im a natural light copper gold redhead. The deeper red henna color on me was brilliant, but it is SO dark now!!
Thank you it does work and my hair isnt dry after following your advise. Im originally a natural red head but over the years dyed it but wanted the auburn look again. I used henna once and was a dark auburn, too dark for my liking so I did what u said lightened it with the naturatint and its now a lovely colour im going to top up my roots with the herbatint that u use. Very happy, Thanks for sharing your video was such a great help. :)
Ah, this is great to hear! Glad it worked for you and you got the colour you're happy with :) thank you for watching and commenting! X
thank you!!! it worked for me, i only used henna once but didn’t like the outcome. after using the product mentioned in your video, my hair has lifted to a lighter color. Now i’ll be able to color over it xx
Ah, brilliant! That's great to hear! I'm glad you got the result you hoped for :) thank you for commenting 💙
Thank you really much for sharing!!!👍
I’ve lightened my ginger henna hair with a concoction of baking soda (in the foreign bit in Tesco) with Jerome Russell developer, some crushed vitamin C and head & shoulders. Wrap the hair in cling film and leave for 15-30 mins......always works a treat. X
You do need to give it a good condition after washing out x
Haha it's funny, here in Germany we have baking powder and pure soda is considered a bit exotic. So here, in the recipes for natural bleaching, they always recommend soda over baking powder. I guess baking powder does have more ingredients on top of pure soda. It probably doesn't make much of a difference between the two.
Loving the homemade bleach wash idea! Looking desperately for ways to transition out of using henna and back to box dyes. It's so messy!
How much of each ingredient do you use? And mix them all together?
@@Elvenboadicea depends on the length of your hair really! I used 5tsp soda, 5 vitamin C and enough Head & Shoulders to make a paste similar to Conditioner x
Thank you for the video :-) This is so helpful! I bought the natural blonde spray from Henna Plus and it worked very well. It lightened my henna hair to the right coppery colour! But it leaves my hair kind of brassy, so I need to do deep conditioning afterwards. I will try your method for sure!
Ooo that's interesting! I've never heard of that!
Rocky Applebee I think it‘s a simple lightening spray. Nothing real good for the hair 🙈 a friend who used henna for years told me about it.
@@francyfey4646 Ah I see! I remember using something similar a long time ago before I was a ginge, but it really damaged my hair
What a coincidence! I was just on here trying to find answers on removing henna so that I can dye my hair AND I bought naturtint the other day! I was going to put it on today but didn't because it said to grow the henna out completely first!!!!!! I can't wait this long as I have very long hair. But I will give the naturtint a go next week and see what happens. Thanks for the video, most helpful.
Ah, that's brilliant! Make sure to do a strand test first! Hope it goes well ❤️
@@RockyApplebee Will do, thanks.
@@RockyApplebee I did it! I did do the strand test because it says on the instructions that you have to completely grow out henna hair dye and I didn't want it to go green and had no idea what would happen as I couldn't wait that long AND you told me to, LOL. As easy to use as any box dye without the itching, tingling and no sore scalp afterwards! The strand test came out perfect so I went ahead. The colour is great, I used Naturtint Natural Mahogany 4N. The condition is great, it's shiny, soft and better than I was hoping for. The colour and result are fabulous, I had no trouble covering the henna. So glad I gave it a try, will be using from now on.
@@jupitermoon7137 Brilliant! That's great to hear! :)
I used vatika pre mixed. Natural brown. My hair is black now! So I'm interested in what happens. I'm scared to do anything. Thank you!
I did it once and my hair got fried by this treatment. So if you do it just know it can damage with time your length. I did it once two summers ago and my hair got fried and my length is still a bit ruined, it never went back to how it was. I have hennaed hair.
I didn’t do it to lighten my henna but to remove a stain that I got on my hair colour by using Rosemary’ s water once.
I have lush caca rouge which I love but I want it more copper than brown red, it;s a little darker than I want, I wonder if I do this if it will help me get the copper I want.
I've bout this I'm doing it on my henna extension first as I've used the same henna on my extension so trying to lift the henna on extention first before lifting the Henne henna in copper on my head I made the mistake in January 2020 of putting Henne bottle henna on my roots a head for too long now I'm a dark red I don't like it so let's see what happens to the hair extension first finger crossed be back soon
IT WORKED PERFECTLY!!!! And my natural colour is medium brown hair:) thank you thank you thank you sooo much:)))❤❤❤
Ah, brilliant! So glad you got a result that you're happy with :)
Could you do a video the next time you dye your hair? 😁
Thank you for this video. I've done 2 applications of henna a few months ago and it gotten dark fast which was unusual cause my natural colour is medium blonde. Hopefully this will help to lighten the henna. I used pure henna, now I know I should of used more cassia than henna (I did say I was blonde lol) so fingers crossed
Thanks again
How went for you ?
@Sticky lotus as a fellow blonde using henna, did this damage your hair at all?
I did some hlresearch on herbatint and there is actually peroxide and sulfates in it as well as ppd which is the metal that reacts with henna. I wouldn't recommend this dye
Henne henna copper hair dye bottle formula if left on hair can go dark red before I used Henne henna powder made my hair a beautiful copper colour I'll hope this lifts then henna Henne copper henna hair colour again go back to nice copper again
Hii I really wanna try this because my hair has gotten super dark with henna. But I've got a question, when you bleached your hair with the natural dy, did it turn blond and you just dyed over it with herbatint? Or did it stay ginger but just lighter? Thanks a lot for this video :)
It stayed ginger, just lighter. And it lightened over time :) now I just touch up my roots and don't touch the lengths. Hope that helps!
I can't get it to fade out.. the henna stays orange from outer space bright until over 6 weeks.. that means I have roots that are always awful!!
I just found this video. I last used henna 2 years ago. I so badly want highlights. I'm hoping they will take but will do a strand test at home.
I just went blonde after years of henna and box dye... It can be done! But I'd recommend going to a salon if you can x
Can you use this tint to do your dark roots and occasionally use henna (like the caca rouge from lush) all over your hair? Thank you :)
I ordered blond herbatint, Im pretty excited, I will let you know about how it went. I am upset about how dark my henna went :(
Hi! How did it turn out?
Sandra Quantin hi, it did nothing :/ But yesterday I put bleach (30volume with bleaching powder) on my hair, I was really stressed from that because I have never done it. And it turned amazing. Yes now I have hair like chicken and I must very slightly bleach it and then tone it to get rid of the orange. But henna is gone! And it was so easy and I am really happy with that. But I used henna only for maybe 9 months.
My red hair has gotten so dark over the years...I'm going to try this in a few weeks!!!
Good luck! Hope it goes well for you :)
Did it work?
I got some out with color opps still trying to get the rest out
you said you’ve had henna dye for years but i only used it twice so do u think using the naturtint will work on my hair? also should i use a different blond if my hair is not as dark as yours?
I'd try it if I were you - I used henna for a long time and it worked for me. This was the lightest blonde I could find from naturtint and I went for it because I didn't want to put full on bleach on my hair. Unless you're willing to risk putting bleach on your hair, I'd try this one. Hope that helps!
Did anyone ever tried a bleach bath or just this method with the naturtint and did that work good enough?
You should see my natural red head friend, it’s so neon orange and curly like Merida it’s crazy it’s 100% natural for some people
That's amazing! They're so lucky!
Why did you go back to blonde hair?
Unfortunately the colours you use to lighten your hair from the dark henna tone have PPDs which many people are allergic to. I definitely am (allergic) so can’t use them. The point of using henna was to dye my hair without PPDs, so your video was not helpful to me. But thanks for it anyway and I am sure it will help some people.
I use henna 1 year now. I dye them every 2 months or so.... Im a natural brunette, and first time I used henna it turned into a nice dark ginger! But not auburn. Now agter all these applications, my hair turnes out dark auburn, almost not red at all. I like henna, I don't want to go blonde, but just ginger. Will this help? Or is it a transition to removing henna and returning to chemical dyes?
I'm in the exact same situation as you, and yes chemical blond dyes work, as well as regular coconut oil masks :) Managed to get back a copper tone on the lengths thanks to coconut!
@@rosaliep2860how many coconut oil mask did you do to remove henna?
@@FoundSheep-AN count at least 2 months with 2 times / week oil masks (let it sit on your hair for minimum 2 hours)
If henna darkens the hair does it mean that if a brunette does copper henna often it will get darker?
The first time it will probably tint it with a red tone but over time if you keep using henna it will probably get darker.
I used henna my roots where darker than my ends my ends had been bleached I applied henna twice but it only toned down a little I still have very orange ends the roots I love its more of a dark copper red how can I tone down my ends more to match helllllpppppp please
Hmm, you could get a brown henna and mix it with the red henna, that would darken it
@@RockyApplebee I did use an indigo I put it on in sections for 30 seconds each it's less orange but do you find you have a matalic kind of orange Tint to the henna I think it looks more fake than natural lol iv brought a colour shampoo will wait to see if that makes a difference I guess, I'm a natural red head but I have been dying my hair for years I want to get back to natural colour so I don't have to keep covering my roots as they show so quickly with any other colours x
I did this and it didn’t lighten at all! 🤷🏻♀️I tried to not get it on the roots and it definitely only lightened the roots.
Ah, sorry to hear that! Mine definitely lightened over time. I didn't notice much difference straight away but after a few weeks it got lighter when I washed it
Rocky Applebee ok I’m hoping maybe it’ll lighten gradually then! I would love a video showing how to do your hair next time you need to lighten or touch up the roots!
How long did you leave the 10N on your hair? I only dyed my hair with henna one time 3 weeks ago. I did a strand test with the 10N and absolutely nothing happened. I left it on for 35 minutes
I left it on for about 30 minutes - I found that I didn't see much difference with the strand test but after putting it all over, the colour lifted each time I washed it. Hope that helps! X
I left mine on up to a hour and it lightened mine. It does work x
Mam if its work in black hair plz tell I am suffering very much for red hair by henna plz plz plz
You could give it a go - I'm not sure how successful it would be as black hair is so much darker underneath, whereas as my hair is quite light underneath.
Your roots look a bit darker and reddish than the lenghts. So i understand you don't put the Herbatint 8R on your lenghts (only the roots)?
That's right! :) and it fades out to match the rest of my hair within two washes
@@RockyApplebee Today i put color remover on my hair to strip the dark brown dye out. Now it's lighter brown with kind of a copper glow. I have Herbatint 8R and Naturtint 8C. I don't know if i should use it over my brown hair or if i should lighten it first with the Naturtint blonde. What would you recommend?
I liked the Copper Burst too but i can't find it anywhere. I am trying to get a nice vibrant copper color. In the past it often turned red instead of ginger.
@@NH-xg8kj Hmmm, it depends how dark the brown is. I'd probably lighten the darker bits if you want a light copper colour
@@RockyApplebee It's pretty amazing that the blonde dye lifted your henna hair so much. Normally these blonde dyes only work on natural hair. I am thinking of using it myself but no idea if it will lighten.
@@RockyApplebee I think it is still to brown for the bright copper i want. I think i have to try the Naturtint blonde first to lighten it and then a copper color. But i am kinda scared that the blonde will do not that much only damaging my hair.
Can you put henna again afterward?
Yes, if the hair colouring products used were without metallic salts (Herbatint and Naturtint are ok) and the henna is 100% natural.
I have extremely dark hair. Can't I lighten my hair using henna?
henna will add color to your hair, but it can’t lighten it! if you want a lighter result you could bleach your hair a bit and then henna it. hope this helps!
Henna doesn't lighten hair
@@kenzieplantlady I have heard that you are not supposed to put Henna over bleached hair.
@gcrichman53 that typically applies to indigo, not proper henna. natural 100% henna should be fine! I’ve had pure henna over my previously bleached hair for years now with no issues :)
why does everyone with henna have orange hair
Because natural 100% henna is red/orange. Any other colour of henna is mixed with other pigments, such as indigo :-) most people are drawn to henna because of its strong orange hue.
I wish I’d realised this! Did not want bright orange hair. I felt I saw so many soft reds claiming they were from henna :/
I wish I could talk to you or someone about what to do about my hair...:(
Maybe go and see a hairdresser? They'll be able to advise the best thing :)
@@RockyApplebee Tbh, I haven't seen one in years. I rather not. I'm going to try olive oil to lighten the dark build up in my hair. I'm pale and originally I wanted auburn hair. But at this point I look ready for a funeral. My original color is dark brown. But it has some grey. I'm 46. Also, I have hair loss problems. Letting it go grey causes the hair loss to be more viewable. I don't know what to do. I'm not an old hag in spirit. I am not a harsh person like you see in so many faces. I like to be maintained and practical but with a lift on my age. Life has been harsh enough! Anyway, I'll just start with oil a few times a week. Because i dont want to strip it. If it lightens...then I'll just see where from there I guess. But it surely was cheap and healthy doing henna the last few years. 😊 Thanks!
Natural henna is ok with chemical, the problem you are talking about is for chemical henna pre-mix...
