Here is a selection of adverts of the famous Smash Martians who thought it was always funny when other people made mash when they had Cadbury's Smash. This also includes an astronaut enjoying a plate of it. Enjoy!

I grew up with these adverts. I loved these martians then and I still do now and im 47 now!!!
I will continue to laugh at Earthlings until they develop instant steak to go along with those instant potatoes.

Yes, Apple ACTUALLY announced a monitor stand and said "Yeah, this is a thousand dollars by the way, see you next year."

I'd rather peel the real potatoes than eat Smash but I used to love their adverts when I was young. They always made me laugh (and did again watching this).
These guys must have voiced the Daleks as well.
Still fondly remembered all these years later.
Even now when I see a whole unpeeled potato, I think of these adverts.

They were laws around advertising that ridiculed humans back in the 70s so the clever team used essentially puppets to do it instead as they were not governed by any such laws - an hilarious legal loophole

There was talk long long ago of a children's show featuring these aliens but it got "canned" because of their association with advertising. Then many years later we got sodding Johnny English which was based on a character from a Barclay Card advert.

I loved seeing these ads again.
Smash is pretty bland, as are the majority of dehydrated mash products. But they improve a lot with salt pepper butter and milk to suit your palate. (I often add a handful of grated cheese too)
handy stuff if you are in a rush.

Spot on Papa, Kraft have ruined a tonne of Cadburys stuff. Replacing the milk in chocolate with sugar in Dairy Milk for example. Horrible stuff now, i avoid.
Actually, the non-confectionery food brands of the Cadbury empire were hived off many years ago as Premier Foods and has since absorbed other well-known names. Their brands include (according to their website) Ambrosia, Angel Delight, Atora, Batchelors, Be-Ro, Birds, Bisto, Cadbury cakes, Homepride, Loyd Grossman, Lyons cakes, Marvel, McDougalls, Mr Kipling, Oxo, Paxo, Saxa, Sharwoods and Smash!
Too right about the chocolate though!

You can still get it.
You can get it in the UK but it isn't as famous and it's getting harder to find but in my opinion DONT GET IT!! It's horrible
It used to be bits but it's now a powder.
It's terrible and that is what makes these adverts so funny. It reasures us (humans) that alien robots will never take over the world because they are idiots.
Scott Christie Really! That's what everyone's been saying, but I'd still like to try them! I just don't understand how Cadbury could put out anything that was bad! Of course, the only Cadbury products I've seen here in the USA are their chocolate and their beverages, but they're both so good!
My friends and I used to sing ,With hash get smashed! the advertisement's took on a whole new meaning, ahh the good old days Lol.

Might be a coincidence, but I note that it first came out during the 1960s; the trend then was for companies to expand into lots of unrelated fields as "conglomerates". (For example ITT- International Telephone and Telegraph- getting into the hotel and bakery businesses(!))
Viewed from that point of view, Cadbury's "merely" moving into savoury goods looks like a relatively conservative reflection of the times. Or I could be talking out of my arse, who knows?
'Course, nowadays, the trend is almost the opposite, for companies to keep spinning off parts of themselves. Which is nice.

As a child was taken to a chain restaurant (Beefeater I think) and I was served smash instead of proper mashed potato. Disgusting stuff. Was sent back - Last time I ever asked for mashed potato in a restaurant. Adverts were good - Product was revolting.
