China’s modern economic boom is little short of dazzling. Ballooning national prosperity has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, urbanized its citizenry faster than any other civilization in human history, and created some pretty awesome infrastructure projects along the way. Not least the world’s longest railway, the world’s biggest airport and a veritable forest of shiny new skyscrapers.

The REAL reason China has "world record construction speeds" is because its engineers take unwarranted short cuts with the building of such things. I suggest you google "tofu-dreg project". The REAL reason China has "world record construction speeds" is because its engineers take unwarranted short cuts with the building of such things. The US doesn't need high speed rail. It has a far more sophisticated transportation system already, and a wealthy population that can afford to own their own means of transportation. The need for a high speed rail in the first place is not something to be proud of, let alone wasting your money on one. None of the high speed rails the chinese have built have ever turned a profit, and people don't use them. They were just excuses for the ccp to embezzle more money from the people.
