Good episode. Frances Bavier played Hazel Howard. She played Aunt Bea on "The Andy Griffith Show". Bob Crossen was in
Another episode where he played another disturbed young man.

Yup. I spotted her immediately. Actors/actresses plying their trade.

Pretty sneaky way to slide in an ad for Poland Water.

In the early days of advertising, they didn't even try to hide it. They would have a set next to the action, so they can pan over and do the ad live on set.

I really enjoy the routine policework that they do in this show. It is often mundane and it can take a numbers of weeks sometimes for them to get a good lead or sometimes they work hard on a case getting nowhere only for the guilty party to be dropped in their laps out of pure luck. And the crimes that they feature in the shows seem to be very recent ones. I wonder if viewers ever figured out the actual case in the show from remembering a newspaper story on the crimes? Some of the shows are incredibly sad due to the nature of them and this one is no exception. It makes it even sadder due to how the story is told it comes across far more realistic and true to the events that happened which makes it more real to the viewer. And some may say that the acting is wooden but personally I find that the acting is more realistic than any other show on tv. Though with some of the characters and the way they say their lines has me cracking up especially the banter between Joe and Frank. Frank is awesome, "salt your body is screaming for salt. I have what you need right here fix you right up. Same thing happened to me. It was salt fixed me right up." priceless. And his Spanish omelet. Wow! Friday dodged a bullet that time. Lol this is the salt pills episode too I didn't realize it. I got the lines a little different but close.

Poor guy. He probably had some form of dyslexia and was mocked for it. Happens to so many people who have unrecognized disabilities. Sad episode with very good acting.

This episode is not technically "Dragnet" -- it's "Badge 714" which was the syndicated version. Just the facts 😅

I know right? I just quit smoking 4 days ago and as much as I love this show it is messing with my cravings at how often they pass cigarettes around to each other in this show. Luckily I am wearing a patch and can reach for a piece of nicotine gum and my nicotine inhaler to satisfy the gnawing my brain gives me. I swear it's harder to quit smoking than it was to quit doing hard drugs by quite a large margin.
