      While thie is super ridiculous and clearly made up, it might not be as silly as it seems? I think the teachers usually have a sheet filled with the annswers, so they just have to cross-reference the two. It's quicker and easier, and she woul be able to do it well enough. Still, what abou the reading teacher? Or the occasional essay in science? She can't grade that lol

    • @Trollestiatumblur
      @Trollestiatumblur 3 года назад +25

      @@AutumnAlma Actually, at my schools the students did grade papers to help the teacher. I only know that because I would get lots of detention and would roam the halls looking for people to talk to. And I would see teachers with their favorite student(s) grading the paper. It was usually kept on the low.

    • @MissMoontree
      @MissMoontree 3 года назад +4

      Helping other kids with homework? Sounds logical. Handing over the responsibility of grading tests and papers to a child of only 11? I would have been pissed (as student, teacher or principle). Some kids can handle that, but they are never under 15.
      Perhaps she was just counting the points and calculating the grades? If you make a mistake then, at least a different student can easily complain and ask it to be corrected.

If you had a study hall, you could ask a teacher if they needed help during that period. If they said yes, you filled out a form and became their "student aide." In 11th grade, I was an aide for my 10th grade history teacher. He basically had me grade stuff and run papers to other teachers. Or you could skip lunch and got to a club to make connections with fellow students.

    The "helping teachers' grade" is actually a thing called Teacher's Aid. Usually, teachers will give a student the answer guide for tests they've given a lower grade and ask them to help grade. It's usually one teacher at a time, though. And it's for extra credit, not money.
    Also, sophmore year is 10th grade, so Rebecca is 14-15 when she becomes friends with Ms. Lee.
    Also, I think the reason Rebecca is so blunt is because she spent 10 years basically friendless, just alone in a house with parents that spoiled her.
    Also Wabecca's parents were at least realistic in their reaction to her sheltering Mrs. Lee
