I'm shooting 11mm steel with Sheshou 0.8 hunting bands. -5°C weather didn't effect much for the speeds I got out of these bands. I noticed Precise anti-cold 0.8 superiority over others at -25°C temperatures. When I shoot my aiming time is quite long (too long). In extreme cold conditions the tension in bands just dissappears if you're spending too much time for aiming. Only frame I'm able to shoot in winter is Rambone and other hammer grips. I'm wearing a thick working glove and half glove as my shooting gloves. In my opinion those Cattyshack red pouches are the best pouches for 11mm steel. Good grip and no accidental sliping with heavier bands.
Ya thats why I got them was for 7/16" (11mm) they are great for that size ammo. I am just waiting g for my order to come in. I have some great white .80 on the way and some of the little pouches like the big ones in this video. Those should be great for 3/8. I need to try sheshou out I hear they are pretty damn good. So many bands and so little money. Lol
Last night I figured out the elongation for the bands that came with my slingshot (that video of yours helped keep me from doing guess work btw) so I was outside this morning seeing how my bands handled the cold, it wasn’t that cold today in red deer though, great video.
Nice to hear the video might have helped. We are getting some nasty weather lately. But we haven't had our really cold 2 weeks yet this winter. I'm not looking forward to it. Stay warm and safe brother.
Awesome video! I watched another channel which did a similar comparison and got the same results. Thanks for sharing this with us brother. This is indeed an eye-opener!
Thanks man! I hope you are doing well. I will try some other brands I have laying around and see if they are the same. Cold weather bands just don't pull nice in my opinion. They always seem heavy and stiff.
I’ve been curious about the difference in cold bands and regular bands. Of course it doesn’t get near as cold here as there. Nice looking natty and great shooting with clays. I noticed it looked like you had a slight fork hit on the second shot. I used clays when I first started shooting just for that reason. They don’t cause much damage. I also used them some when I started shooting PFS a couple of weeks ago to be on the safe side. Great information and great video Mark. Thank you.
Ya I am trying out a new pouch and this frame shoots like a pickle fork. I have to twist the pouch because the fork gap is too small to allow a ball to pass through. It is a bit of a learning curve for me.
Good video mate I have never been sold by anti cold band I have used the .60 and .55 all year round with no issues but thing thing i find helps the most in the cold is to go up to a slightly thicker band for example if its very cold and I get alot of drop with the .55 I will move up to the .60 and that usually dose the trick might have to play about with the tapers and active a bit but it dose the trick. Keep the videos coming really enjoy them mate great stuff 👍
Thanks my friend. I agree the anti cold stuff really doesn't feel nice at all. I find it heavy and stiff. I never really noticed a big issue in the cond except when shooting really thin bands like .45 in -20. Going up a size definately solves the problem.
Nice vid Mark! Those yellow Precise bands seem pretty consistent anyways. Have luck with those in the cold as well as the Snipersling versions. Don't think we've had any days at -17 however. Thanks as always for posting!
I think I will test out the anti cold gzk against the orange and green I think. The green really has some speed and I would like to see how they perform in the cold. How are you hanging in there brother?
@@ATOMark All ok here buddy! Shooting almost everyday with clay but sessions are shorter. Officially RETIRED (early out for me) as of last September so have lots of time for my hobby's. Loving it and don't know how I had time for work before that!!!!! Stay safe.......
Congrats man. I wish I could retire. Still a long time to go. Some folks don't know what to do with their time..... I am not that guy. I could keep myself busy and happy quite easily. Enjoy every minute of it brother.
I've been trying .70 normal vs anti cold bands this week (it's around 0 degrees here in the UK) and although I don't have a chrony, my impression was that there wasn't much difference. Both types were destroying coke cans at 20 yards. Great video - keep 'em coming :)
I never saw a real difference either. Thats why I decided to test it out. Now it is confirmed. I don't usually do more than 15minutes in that weather anyway.lol
@@ATOMark Different topic, but thought you might be interested: I've spent the morning shooting 7mm for the first time. I normally shoot 8mm. First impressions are good - fast, flat trajectory and very hard hitting. Releases really well as it feels so small in the pouch. It feels much smaller than a 1mm difference. I'm using Celtic Cattys blue.70 cut 20/12. If you haven't tried 7mm give it a go! :)
I need to try those bands. I have heard good things. Just be careful you may need to adjust your taper for the lighter ammo or you may get some premature failures. Shooting light ammo with heavy bands is like dry firing. It can really damage your bands.
I haven't used precise in a while but when it first hit the market I used the red stuff. It was anti cold but I didn't like the stretch %. It was maxing at 475% whereas most rubber maxes around 600%.
Nice video as always. Would like to ask you a small question. I can say that Precise bands are the only bands Ive been using so far, Had tried another brand which everyone was talking about but didnt work out for me. I noticed you used Snipersling and also Precise bands. Can you tell me what difference do you see between those two bands? Thanks
The snipersling has a longer elongation andbis supposed to be great in cold weather. I really like the draw on snipersling and it seems really fast. How fast I dont know but I need to test the speed to see how fast. I will do those soon. The 2 are pretty similar in draw although snipersling is a little more smooth I think. Both are excellent bands
Nice video mark, I'm following your recommendation to go for thinner bands. Got some 0.55 precise on the way. And about pouches... what are your thoughts on roo leather pouches?
Roo pouches are nice but my favorite pouches are gzk pit locating pouches. They have more of a flat feel and are more comfortable to shoot in my opinion. I get less finger pain shooting those after a long shooting session and I get a far better release. Just my thoughts
Yup me too. I have some of the smaller ones coming. I bought the big ones for 7/16" ammo but I think I may order some gzk 11mm pit locating pouches for big ammo.
@@ATOMark yeah i think the gzk pouches are my personal favourite (in the absence of roo leather, which im struggling to get hold of), only problem i find with them is they can cause me hot spots after a long day shooting because they're not as soft as other pouches
What bands are you useing? Could be that the 6mm plastic bbs are just too light. Try an 6mm steel base and you will be ripping them right through the can.
academic approach to the matter I should say, bravo! 🔥
I want to test a few other brands and see if the results are the same.
