      Am I the only one who still calls them 'cammies'? Not Camo?
      When I was in (78-82), camo was what hunters wore. Cammies were what the military wore. Somewhere along the line, that changed.

    Went through this back in October, what's a bit fucked up is the Civilians working at lackland treat you like dog shit more than the MTI's

    • @chrismarkwardt4685
      @chrismarkwardt4685 6 лет назад +3

      I think many of the civilians are actually told to act that way to trainees. The MTI's are supposed to act this way as well of course, but I think they can be softer at times because they've been through basic as well and form a bond with trainees.

      Same here in the OCP era. Some civilians who work at Lackland BMT TRS area act like they're MTIs and shit. They won't be like "ohh sweetheart, sorry you couldn't comprehend, would you like to me show you?" its like "figure it out, get a wingman to help you, or you'll see" That's probably to keep that military bearing mindset throughout BMT.

When I went to Fort Jackson in 1995 my battle buddy never helped me and treated me badly nonstop and when I needed help with something he said " I am embarrassed to know you. +PianoMan Smith its just possible we old farts DID have it rougher. I know we did not show up carrying anything with us, and we ran in combat boots. And there were no civilians helping us try on our uniforms to make sure they fit. And no sitting around trying our boots on. We carried them back to the barracks and they had to fit. These troops are being allowed to relax a bit. None of that back when.

    • @Chuck88keys
      @Chuck88keys 9 лет назад +1

      +Thunderbolt22A10 I said we had it "rougher" and i was speaking "in general" for everyone. I was an outdoor person from age 14 Used to hunt trap deep sea fish and lived fairly close to the outlying woods and ponds. Spent most of my pre-USAF days out there, so i was in good shape. YMCA 5 nights a week and swim 100 laps each time ( that's a mile ) and could do 2 lengths of the pool UNDER-water ( that's 150 feet ). I have to admit that LOVE watching the A-10's FLY OVERHEAD when they were coming into Bradley airport.

    sir, i acknowledge your service and thank you for it. but people like you whom say that air force are not a military force and don't deserve camouflage. they have casualties too, just by putting that on they can be marked by afghan's. its a whole different era now. get over the BULLDOG COCKY stuff and acknowledge each military force and how vital they are. we are all in the same country..every branch is serving the same department. we are all brothers and sisters.

    wow so the af gets the same type of boots we marines get, only they are grey instead of brown, belville i liked those and i also got bates and then i went and got myself a pair of danners- 200$ but they are worth it. so the af only gets one color of camies? we mariens get 2 of woodland and 2 of desert

    Referring to the Vietnam era clothing issue. The "Green Giant", was nothing like what you are seeing here. Nothing like a visit to a Bass Pro Shop like you are seeing here. Screamed at, yelled at, threatened, clothes thrown at you (who cared they were wrong size) and left with no doubt what your Momma's profession was. No such thing as being "offended". And no "safe" room with hot chocolate and puppies.

    Wow! They now issue Asics running shoes. When I was there in 1984, they issued a generic Chinese made artificial banana skin, no-name white sneaker. Those shoes were horrible because they were cheaply made with no support or cushion.

  • @spikesonthebrain

    I notice people being issued Asics. My knowledge was that trainees are required to either bring their own running shoes to BMT, or to purchase them at the BX before PT begins. Could you clarify this?

    I get that air force is good for their paying and other stuff but I want to do more intense stuff

    • @sbruckner101
      @sbruckner101 2 года назад

      Then you should look into Air Force Spec Ops opportunity if you want intense.

    Someone supposedly hung themselves with a satchel now they issue web belt "satchels which are clipped to the belt through A.L.I.C.E. clips

    Actually he's not wrong about that. Branches often switch training components to compare effectiveness of training styles. I got a Marine Corps Drill Instructor named SSgt. Ramos when I was in ARMY basic training. I had never heard anyone scream so much in my life.

    I agree and disagree.
    The cammies that they're issued are a working uniform, meant to be universal. They're made to get dirty and messed up. They're cheap and functional, regardless if you're an aerospace engineer or A/C repair man. The AF desk jockeys I've met actually wear their version of Class Bs most of the time.

    Interesting the use of civilians to do what military personnel use to do. The least the men could do is not stand around unshaven with their hands in their pockets. The women look like they are going shopping at Wall Mart.
