It's funny watching younger people react to this. There is so much context to almost every part of this sketch that is from the time period that you can't really understand what they're talking about. Still great video

I was born in 95. I know all the references.
It all follows as it really happened. The UN was against US invading Iraq and the "coalition of countries" included mostly small countries. There were big aluminum cylinders spotted in Iraq that Americans were told could only be used for nuclear missiles. George Bush Sr declared war with Iraq (after Iraq invaded Kuwait) in the early 90s. The popular thought was Bush was angry that he didn't capture/kill Sadam Hussein then. The "yellow cake" is the nickname for material used for making bombs. The "Mission Accomplished" speech on an aircraft carrier, long before the war was over, is also a true thing that President George W Bush did. Chappelle was spot on.

It must be hard for younger people to enjoy the “black bush” skits from Chappelle today. But 20 years ago that 💩 was hilarious! Chappelle is the GOAT!

I remember watching the knee high park sketch not watching The Chappell show ever and laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. Dave Chappell and Neal Brennan literally almost killed me.

This is even more hilarious if you remember the news from the era, including the CIA satellite shots of aluminum tubes supposedly meant to house WMDs; references to revenge for Bush Sr’s Gulf War; Tony Blair being a b*tch in pressers etc. Was a strange era to live through. I miss vintage Chapelle.
Edit to add: the gay marriage bit was a reference to republicans including Bush switching to cultural issues like (at the time) criticizing legalizing gay marriage to avoid press on the failing war effort.

That was funny. I'd like to see you check out the actual Mission Accomplished speech. Regardless opinions on the war itself, it was a really good speech. Bush's 2 best speeches were this one and the adlibbed talk he gave at the World Trade Center ground zero, shortly after 9/11.

His father wa sthe rpesident who went into kuwait. That joke was anything but random to us here. 20 years later junuor came into office. The start about his father is sonething many of us saw before he ever came to office. That he d move on Iraq before the end of his second term . Because of the massive crutsic8ms his fathe rook as president when he went into Kuwait but left saddam in power. I saw na interview where he said that wa shis big regret too. So yeah. His son will take Iraq.
