Japan is still free to make such films since if such a film were made outside of Japan a producer would have been bullied into canceling such a project due to fears of being labeled "obscene" of challenging Political Correctness since White Supremist Australia has strict censorship laws while Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and Electronic Frontiers Foundation went to court to allow manga and anime confiscated by Canadian Customs officials.
I did find this interesting but in my honest opinion it dealt with fare too little of the production/creative process of the film, and in that regard it was one of the worst "the making of ... " documentaries that I ever seen.
They won a huge award, the love of the public for the movie
Just remember, it takes a Master to make a masterpiece.
