I was drafted into the WHL, and I love everything hockey. This league is amazing. A lot of guys have a hard time transitioning to life with out hockey. Any form of team and competitive hockey is a good thing. This video was great.
I played in the league 11 years ago. Was definitely the jungle back then. I remember finishing a game with 4 dudes on the bench because we had so many scraps. The league is a lot more tame now, a lot more skill. Not a bad idea for guys who don't wanna show up to the rink 4 days a week.
Nice job, been going to alot of junior C games in Calgary.I think it's important to give players an opportunity to keep playing. The calibre is quite good, some of these players can play junior b at least!
This was a really interesting video & well done imo. I live in London,Ontario,Canada which is home to the “Major Jr.A London Knights” of the “OHL” (Ontario Hockey League) which is amazing hockey as most of you’s know. With your comment regarding “Jr.C” hockey which i found was very interesting. I played “Jr.B” hockey for the “OHA” (Ontario Hockey Association) St.Marys Lincolns who are the second oldest “Jr.B” franchise in “Ontario” but i’m not sure where the “St.Marys Lincolns” sit in all of Canada?! … Anyways when i was playing for the St.Marys Lincolns in the mid 90’s there was a league called “Jr.D” believe it or not & it was called quite a few names over the years such as “Goon League” of course lol, “Beer League” & many more lol. Some of the “Jr.D” teams were farm teams to “Jr.C & Jr.B” teams as well. When i played for the St.Marys Lincolns our farm team was the “Exeter Hawks”. The “Jr.D” league doesn’t exist anymore though & “Jr.C” league is still going strong.
i was fed up by the time my AAA metro league career finished. I had no money no car When Jr C came knocking I firmly said no . I then let my tired bones relax. Now as a senior my shoulders hurt and my knees hurt a hockey reminder.
In Ontario, mostly lower skilled AAA players with some AA depending on the team or area. Some teams take hometown players who are lower skill. Still some good players though, although it's not as rough as 90's or 2000's.
JrC is a great time. It’s becoming a lot better and safer that it was. It’s great if you want that jr experience but also have school/ work commitments. I always thinks it’s a good idea to try and play at the highest level possible so go play A or B then play C.
Granted I’m not as familiar with juniors, but regarding semi pros from watching the ECHL, SPHL and FPHL, there isn’t as much talent difference as one would think. Often times, players just haven’t gotten their shot at a higher league. It seems as that’s the case in juniors as well.
As someone who has never been in any kind of hockey league or team I wonder how I could join a team in this league, I'm a pretty good player but my upbringing never gave me opportunities to join any kind of hockey teams and now im 18 I would like to get into competitive hockey
