Lovely Ed. Inverary is a delightful village come town with a lot of interesting history tucked away beneath the floorboards. Thanks for tramping through the woodlands up to the vantage point to show us the beautiful view from on high. And those moss covered trees that have been there for generations, they remind me of you and me Ed. Survivors that won't succumb to the treacherous Campbells of Modernity. Cheers!
Hi Ed, Thank you for this video. I come from Slovakia, and in 2012 I lived and worked in Inveraray. I have also been to the tower several times and it was great to remember through your video how beautiful Inveraray and its surroundings are. Overall, the tourism around Inveraray is unforgettable and for me it was one of the most beautiful times of life. Well thank you.
Just moved to Inveraray- this is the video that inspired me to make the move as it really showcases the absolute beauty of the area. So pleased I did too!
Just discovered your channel through this little gem of a video, I visited Inverary Castle last week, I was staying just down the road from Arrochar. Great information on the Campbells and the history behind Inverary. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more!
Hi Eddy, thank you so much for your energy, time, video editing, walking, I have loved watching your videos and listening to your music choices since i have been disabled by osteo, its inspirational and gives a wonderful virtual journey. I so enjoy your chat as well, so thank you again, hopefully i'll be on one of these walks .... eventually,
Great Video Eddy, a wee suggestion if I may; not everybody watching is going to be familiar with where a lot of places in Scotland actually are, so maybe add a few words about how it's on the west coast and hour and a half from Glasgow that sort of thing. Anyway thanks for taking the time to make great content.
Jim, many thanks, and that's a very good point. In the past I have included a small map of the area and the route of the walk, but you're absolutely right in that folk may not know exactly where some places are in relation to the country as a whole. I shall address that issue.
Thoroughly enjoyed this Eddy. I've been here countless times (since I was taken on my first camping trip at 3 yrs old, to Oban. Still got my pic that was taken at the pier eating an ice cream). Was here a few ago's, Sat near enough where you sat at the start @around 11 mins. But in all the times i've been, never been up to the tower, always kept saying "need to head up next time we're here"...Looked absolutely stunning. Inveraray is beautiful, lovely buildings but not great to spend any length of time. A great 1hr break then off again, kinda place. Parking can be horrendous in the summer. Thanks for bringing back all the fantastic memories i have from here leading me on to many other great trips. Take care, Alie xx
I wouldn't agree with that to be honest but I guess it really depends what you're looking for. If you enjoy taking it easy looking around the shops, getting a nice lunch or dinner and going for a walk around the castle grounds or up Dun Na Cuaiche (the tower on the hill!) you can easily spend an afternoon or a day there. To me that's what wee towns like this are all about, not just a walk up the street and a chippie for the trip home.
Greetings from Beaverton OREGON USA. Really enjoyed your video & the narrative. Thanks. My husbnd & I are thinking of a day trip by bus from Oban to Inverary in early OCT and this walk just might top thing off. Any chance you could let me know how long, how steep & how much time it took? Absolutely no comparison, but it did remind me of the view I found from the top of Orrest Head in the :ake District. Cheers,
Hi to Beaverton. The walk's probably around 3-4 miles in total. I don't remember it as steep, and seem to recall a fairly good path - forest tracks for much of the way. If my memory serves me well it had a signpost pointing towards it near the castle, but like all walks there is the opportunity to lose your way and get lost. If you're good with maps, it's OS Landranger No.56 - 'Loch Lomond & Inveraray.' Enjoy your visit. Even if you don't manage the hill, Inveraray's a lovely place.
Yes not an event we'll forget. As a subscriber I think their algorithms are working overtime randomnly selecting from your archive 😊 A good thing in a way as I would have missed them.
Mr Pia's Chip shop on the main street through the town is worth a visit. I enjoyed an awesome steak pie supper from there a few years ago while I was home in the auld country.
During my last trip in August. I had to switch bus in Inveraray. I was coming from Oban and on my way to Tarbet (Kintyre). I had less than an hour to run around the place. I had a quick lunch next to the church tower and walk to that amazing bridge and went for a closer look at the castle same spot as you did on 12:10 of the video. I was a lot more crowded in August. Thanks for showing a part that I did not have a chance to see.
After my walk I arrived back in Inveraray around 3pm and had a four-and-a-half hour wait for a bus back to Glasgow (there's more buses in Summer). How does one spend four-and-a-half hours in such a small space? I sat by a log fire with a 60p soda-water-and-lime and felt strangely bored.
CORRECTION: The old Inveraray village was demolished in the 1740s by Archibald Campbell, not the 1840s as I said during my breathless woodland ramble.

First time I climbed up it was from the loch side and there were ropes to help you up. It was exciting.
“It’s a long way to Inverary and the cheapest pub I know” , was one of my favorite hiking destinations.
It's a very scenic part of the country.
It's called the hill of the cup or bowl because right on top there a dip behind the benches. Was on top of this mountain June 2019. Praying

Thank you. Lovely area of the country around Inveraray.
Hi Ed This walk round Inveraray randomly popped up on my RUclips this morning. Stunning views and a visit to add to my list.
Cheers
Cheers Howie. It's a walk and video that I'll always remember because it was the last one I did before we were all thrust into the nightmare of Covid.

Many thanks. It's definitely a small place. An hour is about right for the town itself.
