- Post-mortem photography allowed people to have an image of their deceased family members and they used them to remember and mourn loved ones.
Post-mortem photography was particularly popular in Victorian Britain. From 1860 to 1910, these post-mortem portraits were much like American portraits in style, focusing on the deceased either displayed as asleep or with the family; often these images were placed in family albums.

They are not fake. But some of these r old. Seen several of these before.
Personally, I wouldn’t want my loved buried or shown with their mouth open. It’s in very bad taste.
