Great film! Thank you! I am born in 1970, so going off to sea was not an option in Norway when I was a teen. M/S Sandanger had a fire onboard in may 1964. 11 died. The fire happened South of LA from B.C to Le Havre. Keep up the good work!

Some great vessels here. I sailed on SS&A ships from 1971 to 1982 and remember seeing the Hobart Star in Auckland. I was a J/E onboard the M.V.Amalric and the Star boat had a main engine failure on departure; I recall them asking if we could lend them some spares as we had the same main engines (9 cyl MAN).

Lovely thank you real ships. I joined British and Commonwealth as an engineer cadet in 1971. Two years at Plymouth then too sae on Clan Robinson then back to college. Next trip Clan MacClay old ship built during the war. Then onto Rothesay Castle and after that spent the rest of my time King Line bulkers and Clan fruit ships. The latter change their names to Castles as the Mail ships had gone. I look back through rose tinted glasses but it was sometimes hard work but then again some fun times. Cheers

Great film, brings back so many memories and to see some old Australian ships on this film was a bonus for me, as I did sail on the Lake Illawarra before she hit Tasman Bridge and sunk and all the other Aussie ships of the ANL I knew very well indeed. Good to see those Port Line, Blue Star, Blue Flu's and others, they were the days and I thank you. Cheers from Tasmania👍

Great show of the old girls. Sad thing is ships of these sizes wouldn't be large enough to turn a profit today.

I was indeed fortunate to be in the Merchant in the 1950 s. The hideous unwieldy super tankers, container ships and hideous cruise liners of today are blots on the seascape

Gentler times indeed. I was at sea 1976 until 82 when British crews & traditional cargo ships came to a sad end. Fond memories & missed to this day. Always think I was born 10 years too late.
