My dad had one of these phones. He owned it for about 2 years until he put it in a loose pocket and it fell into a puddle in 2010. His next phone was the HTC Desire (The Touch Diamond still worked after that, I ended up using it for playing the games it came with, and taking stupid pictures and videos (I was 8 at the time). That thing lasted until around 2 years ago).
Sometimes I come back and watch this ad and remember how much better times were when smartphone makers actually innovated instead of making the same $1k candy bar...

Holy crap man, that is wicked. The thing most people don't realize about these phones is that they have far more muscle than other phones. HTC makes devices that are 9 times faster that iPhone's internet speed, same processing speed as many Apple computers, and with a crapload of capabilities such as advanced stereo bluetooth, 802.11 with b,g, and n support, office mobile, messenger, skype, you name it.
I still love the phone, even though i just bought the Sensation, I still have the diamond and its original packagin... It was something really cool and innovative and the device started the whole Sense-thing...
Oh and one more thing: This is the 5th phone in a series from HTC, the original one was simply the HTC Touch. The HTC touch was available before the iPhone, just not in the United States (only Europe and Asia)! So for all of you who say that this copies Apple, you are not very good at research are you?
I've really enjoyed using my Touch Diamond...the touchFLO UI was a big improvement on my previous WM6 phone. But now I can't help but move on to Android and the HTC Hero...Windows Mobile is still years behind with its basest features and never catches up quickly enough.
It is truly like having a windows desktop computer in your pocket, just imagine having to start that up every time you have to make a phone call. That's what you're buying right here.
I still longed for this phone. Its very sexy! Imo it can be matched to the htc in design department. Shoot! I think im planning on getting this again as spare!
this device has not been released in the US yet. There are 2 versions destined here.. one CDMA for Sprint and Verizon, one GSM for likely at&t or T-Mobile. at&t might not pick it up since they passed on the first Touch, and its a competitor to their flagship phone.
WM6 is so much more then the Iphone will ever be! There are thousends of Games and Apps that you can install and all Office applications (word excel powerpoint) The Iphone is just a phone while the Diamond is a handheld PC!!! the addon TouchFlo3D jsut makes WM6 so much better!

I still have the pro with keyboard. This must have been my 3rd smartphone. htc made smartphones a long time before Apple came up with the iPhone.

i just put it up to charge :) its amazing,the battery still lasts 1-2 days. and it still looks as good as new. its a keeper.

the phone is amazing, but i am getting Touch HD. the video blew me away though, love the effects!

no it doesnt but the new Touch HD does have a 3.5mm jack, there is an adapter so you can put standard earphones in it

Sprint version has a 1340mAh battery vs the 900mAh battery. Definitely worth it IMO
